Having a similar concept doesn’t mean the execution will be the same or that your version won’t be as good or interesting as the other one. If the idea sings to you, follow it and see what you can do with it! The Cinderella many of us know isn’t the original either, after all.

I didn’t mean to discourage you, just to check that you weren’t using an already used title, as it would be confusing and could potentially lose you readers because of that confusion. There is plenty of room for two similarly themed games, but if you truly don’t want to use Cinderella because it’s been used before, why not just switch to another? Snow White could easily fit, or the Swan Maid (depending on which Swan Maid tale you choose) or even Diamonds and Frogs.

Not sure if you’ve ever heard the phrase yoink and twist before, but I think it might be somewhat applicable here. Plenty of people develop similar-sounding ideas independent of each other but they’re almost never going to be exactly the same. Your own ideas and emotions will naturally tell a different story than someone else. You could choose to avoid that game and only work on your own or check it out and ‘yoink’ some concept you like and ‘twist’ it in a way that is unique to your own creative expression. I love fairy tales and stories inspired by or based on them so I’d be thrilled to see more content created within that context.

Thank you for your encouragement. I think I might twist the concept a bit more, but I’m definitely going to keep working on it.

That image really helped and brought a smile to my face. Thanks. I will continue to work on it some more.

Don’t worry, I understand your intent. You just wanted to make sure I dont use the same title.

Now this is an interesting fairytale idea!! I love it, I’ll see what I can do.

This is very true. Thank you for your encouragement.

Today’s pitch

ROCK, PAPER, SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION

In a world of kings and castles, the luck of the draw is what trumps all. Make your choice, play the game, winner take all. The great game decides all.

English version: Rock Paper Scissors as a magic system.

Hello my dear friends,

I have finished writing proluge of my game ( The Great Indian Gamble) that we discussed here somedays ago, what should I do to show you all demo of that?

You can create a post in the HG/WiP category. Common form is to use the name of your game as the title; some people also include the word count in the title.

You should include a plot summary and any features you’d like people to know about (like if you plan to include romance, because people will ask; what kinds of things you can do, like destroy your political enemies with blackmail or financial ruin; some people like to include certain stats, like what sorts of superpowers you’re allowed to choose from, etc).

Don’t forget to include the link to your demo! Most people use dashingdon or moody to host their demos; plenty of info on both if you search them in the threads (though I believe moody is kind of becoming the primary site now). Uploading is a pretty straightforward process.

I suggest also including any questions you’d like your readers to answer or any specific kind of feedback you’d like to get (were there parts that were unclear/I need help with grammar/how did you feel about the characters/etc).

It will probably be helpful for you to look at other WiP posts, especially the ones that have a lot of activity, to get a better idea. Good luck!

Last time i had an idea, i didn’t commit to it but i feel like giving this another try since i have started learning coding as well.

The story would be loosely based on the Indian epic, Mahabharata, though far different from it plotline wise. You play the Role similar to that of Karna, kind of an anti-villain in the story. The Greatest Realm in the continent is about to go through one of the greatest succession crisis known to man, even gods and demons are taking sides. You, though, don’t have anything to do with it… Yet.

The character would have some fixed traits such as desire to prove themselves to be the very best archer in the world and a built up Arrogance. Both are necessary for a true rivalry arch and can be problems that can be fixed with character growth.

The story would explore character depth, scheming like never before, pride, caste system’s influence, bad influence, true meaning of loyalty, valour, goodness and honour. So is there an interest for it?

The Great Indian Gamble

The Great Indian Gamble” is a thrilling choice-driven political strategy game that puts you in the highest seat of power: the Prime Minister of India. From the heated campaign trail to the corridors of power, every decision you make will shape the future of the world’s largest democracy.

You’ve won a historic election, but your journey has just begun. Now, the eyes of a nation—and the world—are on you. Can you live up to the expectations of millions, steer India through economic and social challenges, and assert its role on the global stage?

Key Features:

Shape the Nation’s Destiny: As the newly elected Prime Minister, you’ll face complex choices that impact India’s economy, social fabric, foreign relations, and national security. Every decision will affect the nation’s future—and the legacy you leave behind.

Forge Your Leadership Path: Will you prioritize economic reform to drive growth, foster social unity and welfare, or focus on strengthening India’s global presence? The fate of the country depends on how you lead.

Political Strategy and Risk: Navigate a web of alliances, manage your party, and balance competing interests to keep your government stable. But remember—every choice has consequences, and political gambles can either pay off or cost you dearly.

Personalize Your Story: Your leadership style, priorities, and decisions are yours to control. Whether you lead with vision, caution, or bold action, your choices will define your character’s path as Prime Minister.

Immersive Storytelling: From intense cabinet meetings to critical press conferences and nationwide addresses, experience the thrill and pressure of high-level politics. Interact with senior ministers, opposition leaders, and world figures as you steer India through pivotal moments.

Your Nation, Your Legacy: How will you handle a struggling economy, border tensions, or a divided nation? Will you leave behind a legacy of prosperity and unity—or will your term be marked by instability and missed opportunities?

The Great Indian Gamble is more than a game—it’s a test of your leadership, strategy, and ability to navigate the challenges of governance. Every decision you make has the power to uplift the country or send it spiraling into crisis. How will you lead?

Step into history, take the gamble, and shape the future of India. The fate of a nation is in your hands.

Could we be able to become a dictator? Or would we have to settle with an boring good democratic leader path?

Also I’m pretty sure you should make a thread if your posting the demo

In “The Great Indian Gamble,” you have the freedom to lead India as you see fit. However, keep in mind that this is a modern democratic nation, not a setting where you can turn into a full-blown dictator like in Germany under the Nazis. While you can consolidate power, every move you make that pushes away from democratic values will be closely watched—by the opposition, the media, and, most importantly, the people.

You can take multiple paths—become a strict, authoritative leader, or focus on democratic reforms. But remember, India in 2014 has strong democratic institutions, and any attempts to go too far will lead to criticism, protests, and political fallout. So yes, you can gather more power and rule firmly, but turning India into a dictatorship will have severe consequences.

Play smart, rule how you want, but think realistically!

@Jaydeepsinh_Dabhi congrats on completing a playable demo. That said, I recommend creating a WIP thread to advertise your project. It will be more likely to get views that way. We don’t want to clutter the Interest Check Thread with feedback comments for your demo when these could serve you far better in your own WIP thread.

Ok I will take care of that, thanks for your suggestion

Interest Check

EDIT: The forum for this IF is now live. This is the link!

Title: Deux à Deux
Author: Ray Wilson
Genre: Drama, Romance, Thriller, Crime

Short synopsis: You’re barely scraping by your dead-end job when a couple leaves a note as they leave: “Quit your job—we’ll take care of you.” Calling the number on the note throws you headfirst into a world of luxury, intrigue, power, and lust. Tread lightly.

Longer blurb:

"As a server at a self-proclaimed “upscale” restaurant in New York City, most of your shifts end with exhaustion, total rage, or vague annoyance. When a beautiful couple leaves you a note with their receipt (instructing you to quit your job and let them “take care” of you), along with a $500 tip, you’re intrigued.

You go to their massive townhouse in NoHo and find yourself face-to-face with the most alluring lifestyle you’ve ever encountered. Balancing your newfound friendship with the Lyonses, and your own somewhat nitty-gritty lifestyle, is a challenge, but one you’re determined to make work. Once you’re swept up in the Lyonses’ world, though, it’s hard to escape—you’ll realize there’s a dark underbelly to their glamorous, luxurious lifestyle.

Will you become as cold and crooked as the Lyons couple, or will you find another path with their permanent “house guest”? Maybe you’ll stay at your crappy serving job and get closer with one of two coworkers, to the horror of the Lyonses—or maybe even your boxing coach.

Whatever happens, it won’t come easy."

So that’s the basic idea! I have the whole plot outlined in detail, as well as the characters, but it was initially planned as a book so I’ll need to do further outlining to fit ChoiceScript. I’ve spent the past two days getting familiar with the coding script, and hope to have the first (short-ish) chapter out in a week or two. If you’re interested, please let me know!

I’ve just started writing a game where you play as Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty (you can pick your name, of course). In this game you’ll help mortals find love, and even find it for yourself.

The ROs are:
Hephaestus, the grumpy and reserved god of blacksmiths, and your new arranged husband.
Ares, the bold and hotheaded god of war, with a softer side.
Nerites, the playful and loyal ocean deity, who’s your only true friend

Now here’s my question. Is there anything you’d love out of an Aphrodite? An aspect of her characterization, a specific Greco-Roman myth, something about one of the boys you think would be interesting, etc?

My only ask would that you keep the Charities as her companions/attendants rather than making new characters to take on that role. In the myths where Hephaestus doesn’t marry Aphrodite, he is often married to one of the Charities instead.

Thrilled to finally see some Hephaestus inclusion! Love it!

I’m torn on this suggestion because I’m a “Good Boy TM” player as often as I can be so the likelihood that I would even see this content is low. And why would I suggest you do extra work in that case? But, knowing how much of a meddler she could be, I would enjoy seeing the option to lean into that as a personality. I mean… a little messy drama never hurt nobody. Just. You know. Troy. It’s fine. It worked itself out. :face_with_peeking_eye:
