I’m considering starting a new ChoiceScript project. Now, due to what is most likely undiagnosed ADHD, I have a bad history with these projects, I have two other WIP’s that are all but abandoned, though I still harbor hopes of finishing them one day. Now because of this I’m hesitant to even start, seeing as there’s a decent chance that even if I start to work on this project it might end up another draft buried deep in my files.
That being said, I wanted to see what people here thought about my premise.
You’d be playing as the heir to the throne of a large kingdom in a medieval fantasy setting, featuring a magic system heavily inspired by the psyenergy power of the characters from the Golden Sun game series (a must play for all retro rpg fans). Your father is a warlike king, but a good if distant father. The early part of the game would feature short to mid length chapters scattered through your formative years, featuring at least the ages of five, eight, ten, twelve and 15-17. During these times most of your day to day interactions will feature your mother, the queen, who is much more involved in your life than your father, she is a kind and warm person, exactly what you’d expect of the perfect royal mother. Possible siblings (yet to be decided upon), one or two knights of the kingdom. And most importantly you magister, or teacher/tutor, a vastly powerful elementalist recruited to be your magister by your father even before your birth, they are your teacher in your sourcerous studies, lessons in history and all things related to the world at large, and later in your life, even swordsmanship.
Later parts of the game would feature your life at court and adventures within the borders of your fathers kingdom and on occasion outside of it. This part hasn’t fully taken form yet, currently I’m picturing you forming something like an adventuring party and performing great feats across the land. Classic heroics.
Even later in the game, or perhaps a sequel if inspiration truly strikes, would feature the story of you becoming the new ruler of your fathers kingdom. Fight a war alongside your old friends from your time spent as an adventurer, balance life as ruler at court with your old adventurers identity. Even less formed than the middle part but you get the picture.
