lol or you could mix an element of each one and make one story?

Let’s see…

play a swordman-woman who enter a competition to win a legendary weapon. Homewhever, your rival and arch nemesis stole the damn relic and half way trough the match they tell you that. So all your winning so far don’t count for squat . To make things worse, the damn jerk run away with the relic to a tomb with catacomb filled with ‘Horrific monstosities’ . A bunch of adventurer were the last brave soul trying to clean the place, and now you are sent to get the damn relic, find the jerk , and if you can figure out what happen to the adventurer if they still live…oh and try not to die down there. Cose as soon as you step foot, they are locking the door, and they give you a password to say…if you ever make it back alive .

I didn’t say anything about changing or diminishing the horror aspect, just because you’re making it a COG game doesn’t mean I was suggesting you diminish the horror aspect, on the contrary I think that’s the best part of that option.

@E_RedMark That sounds like a weird chaotic hodge-podge of genre’s that just wouldn’t synergize at all unless you fundamentally change the genre/events/ premise of each story. Also, trying to please everyone isn’t always a good/successful endeavor. Also how does the high-school aspect fit in ?

That’s one hell of a plot but it would be complex and won’t have a specific genre to make it unique🙂

It has catacombe! Whats not to like ? lol

also, I wrote that on the fly lol let see you do better :stuck_out_tongue:

Humm…he can turn the truth and dare stuff into puzzle and trap inside the catacomb lol

Think something like Jigsaw stuff lol do or die .

@Novachrome I personally like complex stories (As long as they aren’t complex politic stuff which bore me to tears) . When you pick a genre, peoples have a tendancy to…limit themself . When say X genre is much more then what you may have played, read, saw in the past .

Edit: Though I admit, simple stories are also good . Check out MOON movie, so well done with the smallest cast ever .
Edit2: Btw, write the story that’s calling to you. You must have fun when you write it, you must want to write it . A poll isn’t a bad idea, but often its better to make the choice yourself, since you know…you gonna be the one writing it .

True you are right

@CreoleGuy519

I get your point.
I wasn’t trying to change the genre ,just the setting maybe from highschool to something else.
Though it seems the space outbreak might be OK to start with…:slightly_smiling_face:

So I have two ideas, both are sci fi/fantasy.

They literally just popped up in my head. Everything I write below is just brainstorming.

  1. (Green Lantern/Star Wars/Nova Corp inspired)
The main character is suddenly chosen to be apart of an intergalactic peace keeping body after saving one of their members from an attack. The mc is taken away (willingly/unwillingly, you can decide) and begins training, while an opposing society threatens the stability of the galaxy at large.

I’ve been deep diving into a lot of comics recently and I’ve grown to love the Green Lantern/ Nova Corps. This would be a sort of love letter to them.

  1. (Alien abduction/Quasi-power fantasy)
The main character is taken away from their planet by space pirates (I don’t know what else to call them) to be sold off for study. Gather up a rag-tag band of outcasts and fight your way through the galaxy to return home.

I like worldbuilding and this story would have a ton of that. I don’t know if any of you guys use reddit but the HFY subreddit has been the main inspiration for this story. If you like sci fi power fantasy, that’s the place to go.

I can promise that both these ideas will have a ton of action, not sure how violent it will get. The only problem being is that I can’t decide soooooo.

Poll!

  • Idea #1
  • Idea #2

Depending on which one is chosen I’ll do a second post and then I’ll open a Wip thread. If any one has any questions or ideas for me that would be great. Brainstorming is hard for me and I’d like for any help that I can get.

I can already tell that these games will be large.

I like the 1st idea more because I’m more familiar/ interested in the Green Lantern Corp lore, however I’ve always liked the Sinestro Corp and Red Lantern Corp more than the greens. Mainly because the leaders of those organizations are more interesting to me than the Guardians( who caused a genocide) and Hal Jordan. So if you added a rival corp that’s morally grey and has cooler powers I’d definitely want to join the “enemy faction” especially if I’m being forced to join them.

Personally I like the second idea better, but I see I’m in the minority. I’ve always liked the vibe Guardians of the Galaxy and Starjammers have more than the Lanterns or Novas. Don’t get me wrong, Kyle Rayner is my absolute favorite DC superhero and Blackest Night was certainly one of the all-time best comic events, but I love the down and dirty spacepunk of Star-Lord or Corsair.

I’m quite surprised that the poll is at a stalemate. Oh well, I gave it enough time as it is.

I’m gonna stick with idea #1 guys. Sorry for anyone who wanted the second one but, don’t worry that isn’t going anywhere. That might become a thing of its own.

Now its time for buisness.

I like the #2 idea more. While both ideas have tones of creativity possibilities to them. I feel like the 2nd one will have just a bit more.

HHiiiii I just had an Idea, can someone, anyone make a book about this? cause I can’t do it

I was watching a movie on a tv and there was this scene where a young girl is going to jump off of a bridge and this guy prevented her from committing it … Then suddenly an Idea struck me and its like how about write a book about a leading protagonist who works for a suicide prevention center? And he/she makes an impact about many peoples lives its either the lead will led the said characters to their doom or save them~

I hope someone makes this thing cuz I can’t write that good yet I lack many things and can’t express words that good~

PS:if theres an existing idea like this one then feel free to take this out! Haha~ see ya all around

I’ve started writing a few scenes of a story idea, and since this thread is here I figured I’d take advantage of it to get some opinions. I’m not the best at elevator pitches, but let’s give this a shot. Also I still haven’t played as many CoG games as I should so if any of this has been done already please let me know (I promise I’m working my way through more!)

Basically, there are two premises. The first is that the MC has a power (currently called the Tether) that allows them to empower other people – warriors get more stronger and durable, mages can cast more powerful or varied spells, and so on. MC has no real skill on their own, and is extremely reliant on the allies they can find to get things done.

The other premise is that the MC’s soul has been stolen, which would normally be lethal, and the plot revolves around them trying to get it back. However, something happened that allowed the MC to essentially share their adoptive sister Maya’s soul, allowing them to survive, but basically forcing the sister to go with them everywhere and putting a heavy strain on their relationship.

I want the game to be heavily relationship-focused, not so much in the sense of friendship or dating (although I want those to be there) and more in the sense of what it means for people to mutually trust each other and how to make or break that trust, and what the consequences of that could be for better or worse. Right now I’m planning for the first half of the game to be linear-ish, and then after the Game Changer scene, there will be a bunch of different possible second halves based on how your teammates react to you.

I guess I’ll leave it at that for now. Anything in there salvageable? Assuming I have the writing and scripting skill to pull it off in the first place, lol.

Seems like a good idea, CoG could use more heist type of games and I like all of the Ro’s from their blurbs though I’ll probably try either Fox or Lion first if you do write this thing. :+1:

I vote North America, Hollywood likes to depict dictatorships happening in other places, so one happenning in an alternate North America would be the most refreshing to me.

Hmm… I was thinking a rise of the “new” VoC within the European Union, subverting all the nascent intranational governmental bodies into a new “Company” and perhaps forming a new Hanseatic League type situation would be perfect…

That outer space one is a saturated genre in video games, but is nearly unheard of in choice fiction. I’d love to play something like that.

I’d structure it more like Resident Evil than like Dead Space: instead of a linear path where you encounter monsters in a set order, you should have a bit more freedom to explore and unlock various sections of the ship.

It is at least something different from the usual East European post-Soviet ruritania that Hollywood likes to depict as European dictatorship…but still not as new and refreshing as North America itself. I was depicting an America where Washington’s rebellion fails and as a result the colonies are both less developed and only break away in the wake of an alternate decolonisation movement in the 1950’s- 60’s together with much of the rest of the former British Empire.

While less common western European dictatorships are still done more often and are practically the theme of the whole “last days of Europe” mod for Hearts of Iron I’m playing now. Where they have Geelkerken as a far right nutjob rename my homeland Dietsland. The horror! :face_vomiting:

But as far as European Union gone bad schemes go, it is at least more original than “the Germans have been biding their time to turn it into the fourth Reich” or “The (former) French president just took over and declared a new French Empire with himself as the Emperor”.
