Books? As in more than one? I should sell the rights to the trilogy before it’s too late.

Thanks for the idea, I’ll start fleshing out a couple of the events and see where it takes me.

Hi @HunterBlack, congrats on the design. The layout is really elegant. How did you do that? I thought you couldn’t upload styles on dashingdon. How did you change the next button to say things like “21 years later”.

Does the demo end after you complete all the multiple character selections?
Personally, I’d prefer to be given something mostly autogenerated and to jump directly into the story (or with the choice to adjust).

By the way, I also hit a bad label (“grappling”).

Keep going, the background story is compelling.

Hey y’all. Been a lurker and reader for a while on here! I’ve finally decided to write a game! As of now, I’m still learning the coding system, but I have the basic idea of the game down along with some of the characters and setting.

The game is in an urban fantasy setting at Arawn Academy, a hidden school for young animal shapeshifters to learn to control their powers. You play as Mcintosh (it’s the canon last name, first name and gender are customizable), a new student with a secret. Unlike the other shapeshifters, they can take on multiple animal forms. When a fellow student goes missing as the fog rolls in, it’s up to you, your classmates and friends to investigate the similar disappearances going on around town.

Gameplaywise, the idea is that it’s a bit like the Persona games. You have real-life events to attend during the day, but at night you can investigate the warped version of the town you’re living in. I’m still new to coding, so the initial options will be limited, but hopefully, they can make an impact if that’s the case.
The party members will also have their own events you can help them with. I’m still on the fence with making some of them incompatible depending on players’ attraction choice, but that’s still up for changing, not married to that idea yet. Speaking of the characters, here’s a few of them.

Chase Holiday: A stubborn and steadfast guy with the animal form of a mountain goat. Considered a ditz by his classmates and teachers, Holiday’s real strength is his determination to gain control of his powers and reenter the competitive track world and make it to the Olympics.

Abby Aashirya: A talented and aloof girl, Abigail or Abby as she’s known by her friends, seeks adoration through her watercolor pieces. Never seen without her paint-splattered overalls and lucky brush, Abby is considered out of touch with the rest of the world. Her skill extends to her animal form; a hawk, as she is graceful and quick in her movements in the air.

Jordan Leto: Around the school, Jordan is hardly seen. Aside from showing up to class, gym practice, and lunch, they never seem to stay around much. No one has heard them speak or even make much noise. Always wearing that brown, baggy hoodie, suspenders, and other mismatched clothing. Their room is always closed, but students who have looked in briefly saw computer monitors with security feeds of the school and town.

So that’s it. I’m still in the very early stages of this WIP to the point where I don’t even have a name for it yet. What do y’all think? Any suggestions, ideas or do you just hate it in general?

For the button text, if you do this:

*page_break "Insert Text Here"

The button will say: “Insert Text Here”

You don’t need " and " for it.

On another note, anyone interested in a fantasy game about revenge?

Summary

Have you ever desired something so greatly that you would give up everything—everyone dear to you to obtain it, to keep it, when offered to you?

You went from a street urchin, abandoned for the magic in your veins, to indentured servant for a mercenary company at the age of 8, just to survive. You faced the pain of training for years before becoming a full mercenary, though still indentured, at 18. You worked for years to whittle your debt down so you could be free. Finally, you fought in a war for someone you came to trust and love. You promised everything to him.

He took everything you offered and exchanged it for power. You were left for dead, your blood running over the ground. You were dying when the Grim Reaper offered you another chance to live, but it came at a price.

Vengeance.

Sample:

Is it really that simple?

You open your mouth to speak, but the Grim Reaper cuts you off.

“There is not much time left. I can only offer this to you while your body still lives,” they say, pointedly looking in the direction of the man and your body.

The deep frown on your face turns into a grimace. You don’t like being hurried to make such a choice, even if it’s warranted.

“I can assure you, it is as it sounds. If you agree to the deal to get revenge and you get revenge, you will live,” the Reaper pauses before continuing, “But if you refuse the deal or fail to uphold the deal for revenge, you will die. What do you choose?”

An unfamiliar feeling spreads in your chest. Perhaps it’s multiple emotions. Perhaps your heart is about to stop beating and you can feel it happening. You can’t quite decipher what it is.

You cast one last glance at your body before your eyes move to the stranger trying to save you. Finally, you turn back to the Reaper… and make your choice.

“I accept your deal. I’ll get revenge in exchange for my life.”

The Grim Reaper gives a single nod and raises a cloth covered hand, magical light already swirling around it like a translucent mist in the wind, “Then it is a deal.”

You hesitate for a brief moment, then take the Reaper’s hand.

The magic encircles you both.

I think your post would fare better at the Interest Check Thread.

Also, does it have to be Mcintosh? Sounds like an apple product :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:.

Oof, you’re right, it does sound product placementish! Any suggestions? Also, thanks, I’ll see if I can slap this post up in the Interest Check Thread!

By the way, I really like the idea. About the name, idk, it’s up to you. I was joking.

Hello, people! I’ve been toying with the idea of a game where the player takes control of a teenage MC and spends the week in a cabin in the woods with their friends. You can probably guess where this is going but I’ll continue anyway, a secret killer tries to end everyone’s lives and the MC makes choices that could contribute to the death toll or shorten it. Every single main character can live or die, based solely on the players decisions, both intentional and not. There will be RO’s, a friendship/enemy system, and you can even help the killer!

It’s obviously very bare-bones at the moment, but does this pique anyone’s interest?

@Jakeblinked right here 🙋 it definitely piqued my interest. I also love that you can save everyone’s asses or go team up with the secret killer ( * laughs in evil *). Anyway I love your concept, keep 'em coming. All the best :+1:

Hi! This is an interest check for my WIP, tentatively titled The Yacht Club (TYC) after the organisation at the centre of it. First time posting, so if this is too extensive, I’m sorry! Please let me know of any mistakes!

(Trigger warnings: explosions, death [implied], amputation [implied], PTSD)

Plot Synopsis
The player character is an individual codenamed Coyote (tentative), a chemist and explosives expert formerly part of a heist crew known as ‘The Yacht Club’. Their name, some of their background, moral code, personality, relationships with the crew, and additional skills can be shaped by the player, but their codename and some parts of their character are pre-set.

Five years prior to the game’s beginning, the Yacht Club was involved in a heist at a renowned (but fictional!) gallery in London. During that heist, something happened, and the gallery was destroyed by an explosion caused by Coyote, and there were several causalities, including severe and permanent injury to TYC’s leader, codenamed Rabbit. The crew dissolved in the aftermath, the members scattered to the corners of the globe and hunted by the authorities, but Coyote was haunted by what went wrong and they suspect they may have been sabotaged by someone on the crew.

The game begins with Coyote receiving a mysterious letter addressed to the members of the Yacht Club, and stating they have a final job to complete, one that may provide answers about what happened in London. After the crew decides to take on the job (though Coyote’s feelings about this can be decided by the player!), it will be revealed that the crew are seeking a lost city known as Sentiéro, in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. Throughout the job, the player will have chances to cultivate relationships with the rest of the crew, gain heist-related skills, and find answers about what happened in London.

Stats
While I’m still working on this part of development, the main stat system will revolve around morality, of which there are two types, individual and group. Checks on Coyote’s morality points, and then the group’s, will lead to different outcomes regarding the search for Sentiéro and their relationships with the crew members. Players will be able to choose whether they play as a villain, hero, morally grey, or somewhere in between!

ROs
Right now, I’ve planned for four ROs, because I don’t want to spread myself too thin, but the crew consists of 10 people (nine not including Coyote) and I recognise this may lead to people wanting ROs I’m not planning on being ROs!

The tenative ROs (which I aim to make gender of choice), by codename:

Rabbit: Former leader of TYC, they lost their left leg in the explosion. A skilled aviation expert, with an aggressive personality even before London, though their charms are numerous. This is likely to be a slow burn route, as they still harbour some blame for what Coyote did, but this can be resolved.

Panther: A diving expert, from a long line of pearl divers. They were (canonically) close with Coyote before the explosion (which they did not witness, as they were on getaway duty) and disappeared completely after the events in London. Regardless of romancing them, they will be Coyote’s greatest ally, as they believe something strange happened that day as well.

Serpent: The strong and silent type, and an impossibly gentle person despite their many muscles. Their route is likely to turn out to be the ‘softest’ among the ones offered, but they certainly have their secrets.

Fox: The tricky, cocky bastard of the crew, they run the crew’s former safehouses and are accustomed to a certain lifestyle. They’ve only agreed to return after running out of money, and will be easy to get with physically, but not emotionally, as that’s one of my favourite tropes!

[potential fifth/replacement RO]
Lion: A gambler who always got what they wanted, until the gallery explosion. I would describe them as ruthless, and they and Rabbit are often at odds over what should be done (Rabbit represents a highly moral path; Lion represents the opposite end of the spectrum.) Very cocky and arrogant, if that’s your RO type!

Inclusivity
I plan on it being LGBT+ inclusive (as I’m a member of the community myself!), and it deals with topics like PTSD, depression, and other mental health issues. One of the planned ROs, codename Rabbit, is also physically disabled.

Any other questions, I’d be happy to answer!

After playing Qing Collapse and reading too much about the Late Western Roman Empire, I’ve thought of a new game called End of an Empire.

The idea is, over the course of a hundred years and several characters, you have to stop the nation of Altora from going too far into decline and collapsing, as its assaulted from all sides by invading foreigners and domestic rebellions.

You’ll initially take control of a character at the turn of the century, then take control of either their protege or the children they have with their RO. More information about the world will be added once I figure out how to use collapsibles.

World

This will be set on the fictional Sea Continent. Besides Altora, there’s also its old rival Ryftus and the uninhabited backwoods of the Va Auresh. The Sea Kingdoms and Bishna Khanate are both under control of the Forest Continent’s Nations.

The Forest Continent will be the colonial power. It contains Geleran, Zorivas, and the Three Cities, the primary three colonial empires. There’s also portions of the Va Auresh and Karsa, the alchemical superpower.

Magic

This is high fantasy, after all. The Altoran military uses spear-mages, soldiers who use runic weaponry and armor. Meanwhile, the Forest Continent troops are evoker-grenadiers, who are sort of a direct upgrade. Almost all combat units have incantatars, troops who chant complicated phrases to strengthen the other troops.

Learning powerful magic not only requieres great intelligence, but also toned, strong bodies because of its physical requirements. Because of this, the weaker, more studious people devise theories of magic (or perform alchemy) while most of the soldiers in the world militaries only learn the most basic phrases and usages for combat.

I’d love to play this. Wll the MC be able to choose their class, or is that pre-chosen?

Mostly you’ll be an imperial magistrate, but that could mean that you’re either a patrician or peasant or whatever (I haven’t really figured out if I’m using Rome or China’s system for that). Really, it just means being able to pass the exam.

If you mean the three different types of soldier I listed, the background options will definitely have the choice to learn spear-mage tactics early on, and you’ll be able to learn incantations and evocations later too.

I actually already have this as an open world RP in two separate RP sites, just they both ghosted and I realized that this probably worked better as a Choicescript game.

Say no more, where do I sign up?

I’m just going to point out one thing here; in Rome, nepotism was quite prevalent (see the entire Caesar family). While in China, thanks to Confucius, merit was given more priority. Of course it helped if you were somehow favoured by the Imperial family, but a peasant technically had a chance of rising to prominence, like Confucius himself (even though his ancestors were dukes).

So you might want to base off the exam on that :slightly_smiling_face:

Seeing so many positive reactions, the demo will probably be ready once I manage to finally install Choicescript. Somehow I have two laptops, two iPads, and a phone available to me but I can’t get Choicescript on any of them at the moment for one reason or another. That’s the real WiP right now.

I was thinking maybe a combination of the two systems? Maybe officially, it’s a meritocracy, but there’s so much corruption and cronyism that it’s really not anymore.

As I come to the end of my multi-year project TDUP about romancing immortal fantasy creatures, I wanted to bandy about a new idea.

I really love the “found family” dynamic of TV shows like Brooklyn 99 and The Good Place, and wanted to design a game that captured something close to that feeling, but with a new setting and a dash of weird, dark nonsense. I also like fiction that deals with repeating cycles, like Groundhog Day, Happy Death Day, The Outer Wilds, Dark Souls etc., so I wanted the game to reflect a bit of that as well. Living out similar days over and over and trying not to go crazy in the process. My city has just gone into lockdown a second time, so those themes are really relevant.

Here’s my pitch:

Recovery

Genre: Supernatural Horror

In exchange for healing you back to health after your terrible crash, you must fulfill a debt to the Hospice House: you will guard the house from evil spirits until 7 patients have been discharged. You and three other guards spend your days looking for an escape and whittling away your time together, and you spend your nights fighting back against wave after wave of shadow creatures that come to harm the patients of the Hospice House.

The Hospice House cares for those who are a danger to themselves and others, releasing patients only when they are ready to rejoin the world beyond the black fog outside. But you find that released patients tend to find their way back to the House again and again anyway. A patient is only truly discharged if they never come back.

You also suspect that the House may have different methods of treating different patients. It told you that you were an exception. That you didn’t belong here. But maybe you do.

Fight at night, make friends in the day. Rinse and repeat until your penance is finished.

Characters

You’ve got a choice of four characters.

Sienna, 22 f, is a med student who was nursed back to health after a car crash she caused.

Mal, 32 f, is a mortician with a history of falling for the allure of modern cults.

Grimes, 27 m, is a public transport officer who let his small amount of power get to his head.

Hanson, 37 m, is a high school principal with a determined belief that everyone can succeed if they put their minds to it.

  • hell yeah
  • no way dude

So I’ve had this idea for a sci-fi game set in a universe where “magic” exists almost everywhere.
There is an expansionist federation of species that relies heavily on this magic, to the extent that they don’t have technology as we know it, like their ships fly with magic etc. Earth on the other hand is one of the few places where no magic exists.
The game would be set a little in the future so that humanity has all the usual sci-fi tech.
The game starts when the federation decides to colonise Earth, expecting little resistance from the primitive local civilization that doesn’t use magic. How ever human technology is far, far more advanced and the federation is completely overwhelmed.
I was thinking of making the MC a member of the federation and you’d get to choose the species

I have yet to think of a plot, characters and so on, just wanted to share the setting with you to see if you guys like it!

Sounds like a mix of Halo and Warhammer 40K to me.
