I like it. The idea seems interesting and it can go in multiple direction’s. For instance, that inaccurate prophet you mentioned could’ve made a self fulfilling prophecy. In trying to avoid his death, the king gives the supposed killer reason to kill him. Like in Macbeth

This is my second attempt a COG. I learnt a lot from my ordeal with the Night Hunters and this plot was the first original one I penned down. It’s inspired by the Alien, Jurassic park series cause I love monsters and survival movies.

Death Files: Phase One

Your Role

The war recorded by historians and data keepers as the Galactic Wars for Freedom. You’re a 2nd Lieutenant in the Military Intelligence Core. Unlike the myths behind the MIC, you’re not a spy or a secret agent. You don’t get to go undercover or create a network of lies in the underground. When the Commanding Officer in the briefing says, “Our Intelligence reports…” She’s referring to the intel you stalked out.

MIC personnel are all recruited from the Army and their cardinal rule is that they work alone. Unlike the Battle Marines, Galactic Allied Special Forces you don’t work in teams or even pairs. If discovered you are expected to kill yourself…not for the safety of your troops but as a measure to save yourself a miserable painful torture schedule.

Soldier first and foremost, you’re instrumental in providing your troops with the information, plans, assassinations and whatever they need to complete their mission. Just don’t expect a thank you or a respectful welcome. Naturally since only the high council and your CO are the only ones you answer to and are accountable to discuss your identity with, the senior board hates you. The Air Force hates you cause you’re Army, the battle marines hate you because you’re far too much of a lone wolf, the Galactic Special Forces don’t trust your type and are more suspicious than cold. Your own Army people hate you cause they can’t boss you around and you spook them.

After all you’re one of the insane souls who venture behind enemy lines all alone and come back alive and quiet.

Features
  1. Play as Male, Female and Non-Binary
  2. Pick your MC physical description
  3. Be part of the military and venture deep behind enemy lines.
  4. Be the one person who knows all.
  5. Three gender set and four flip able RO’s that aren’t locked to a sexuality.
  6. Decide your loyalties and priorities, what’s more important humanity or your nation winning this war.
  7. Follow the crumbs and uncover the mystery behind the death tolls.
  8. Choose your path, once you’re rock bottom there’s only one way to go.
ROs
  1. Major Blaze Griffith (GCSF; Team leader)(M)
  2. 1st Lieutenant Nikshar/ Nikhat Rahzvi (Fellow MIC agent)(M/F)
  3. Flight Officer Elliot “Comet” Yun (Fighter Pilot) (Air Force) (NB)
  4. Chase Hillior (Chief Communications Engineer) (M/F)
  5. Alexander/ Alexandra Kingston (CSIF; Team Sniper) (M/F)
  6. Dr Julianne Russo (Doctor and leading Scientist)(F)
  7. Captain Killian Shade (M/F/NB)(Battle Marine)

The details will be filled in the story cause they’re spoilers as of now.

The demo will we released in first or start of second week of July.

Why not, I like high fantasy. However, I don’t recommend you to write the whole story with random capital letters, since it’s hard to read.

…and back to the classics!

THE DARK ORDER

ChoiceScript is an excellent language for implementing D&D-style games. So why not get back to a classic adventure, taking a break from all the much more creative and brilliant gamebooks that have been written by Hosted Games contributors? (I’m being honest, I’ve been reading a lot of awesome stuff).

So, grab your swords/bows/daggers/fireballs and come help defeat (or join, for that matter) the mighty necromancer Zoon (evil, of course) who wants to conquer Kindorius and the rest of the world’s territories.

Who is this terrible necromancer? Where did the terrible creatures known as zworg come from? Who are Zoon’s powerful generals? How can they be defeated?

Choose your class (four available for now) and subclass (two for each class). Make your choices, use your favorite weapons, and choose up to four companions to follow you in the quest to defeat Zoon (be careful, they can die along the way, so can you). Will you help the good guys win? Will you rule the world alone? Or will you join Zoon and spend an eternity of evil glory and suffering?

Features:

  • D&D-based rules (note: it will not be necessary to know how to play, or have ever played, D&D to enjoy this game);
  • The choice of class and subclass does not change the difficulty of the game, but it does lead to different dialogues/experiences/endings;
  • Alignment mechanics (good/evil, lawful/chaotic) that influences the player’s journey;
  • Partially non-linear story;
  • Use different combinations of weapons/armor/shield (no restrictions, although it is best to choose accordingly to your class - sorry, a wizard with a sword and shield will not fight very well…);
  • Ability scores pre-defined according to class that you can adjust along the adventure;
  • Available classes (may change): warrior, ranger, rogue and wizard.

The chapters will have short interludes in between describing events occurring elsewhere. After all, this is also a story. Possibility of romance? Why not (if there are requests)? Love exists even in the most unlikely places.

About gender and sex: these attributes have no influence on the adventure. I’m not planning to ask gender or sex. I assume anyone can do anything and fall in love with anyone else. Just like in real life.

So… are you willing to start this glorious journey and win while facing the ultimate evil?

(If not, say it now and save me months of sleepless nights).

Be safe!

What a great pitch! DnD DM, here. I’m all in, and I would love to play this! (Definitely joining Zoon).

It seems that I have already found a beta tester. :grinning:

So would anyone be interested in an E-Sports storyline? The game will be a Moba/shooter, so there’ll be a bit of heroes/champions to learn. I haven’t fully fleshed out the idea, but I’m curious to see if anyone’s interested before I move on with it.

I’d really like to play it! I miss simple and nice party games.
Aaaand now I’m thinking about comedy IF where characters are playing dnd, like The Gamers. I’d read that…
Or I’d write that. Goddamn.

Not sure if the Tolkien estate would take notice of this niche market, but calling your High Elves Eldärie is cutting it close. Warhammer 40K recently had to change some names for legal issues, though they were more blatant calling their space elves ‘Eldar’.

If you make it a poll I think would be easier to gauge. :joy:

IMHO, yes.

For my money’s worth, I don’t have a problem with any of them. I could potentially see some people having an issue with the most racy option, but the other two are completely safe in a world where 50 Shades of Grey exists. Can’t wait to hear more about the project.

So I shelved my other idea and am already working on chapter two of this game. Forgot to gauge interest first, yikes and oops. I decided to delve into my own military interest and bring you… This. Would you believe me if I told you this came to me in a dream? Wrote a note on my phone at 6AM and ended it not with a period, but a “holy shit”.

Very, very brief overview

You like aliens? You like war? Of course you don’t, neither do the people on Cronus base Alpha. But here you are, commands in hand and aliens dropping from the sky.

Ground Zero: The Beginning (Working title for now) takes place in a world not so different from ours, unless you count the five-year-long alien invasion still ravaging the lands.

No one knows where the rifts came from. The first week, the creatures were few and far between, but five years later the rifts in the sky rip open like fireworks, raining down eldritch horrors with unknown motives and a desire for blood, for all you know. They started off fist-sized, weak and fragile in your atmosphere, but now the most monstrous creatures tower over the landscape, shaking the ground with each step, and crumbling buildings with a single breath. Humanity is facing extinction in the claws, tentacles, and maws of these unimaginable creatures, and the population dwindles by the day.

Enter CRONUS. The savior of mankind, an united militaristic union formed by the surviving powers left on Earth. The union recruits every man, woman, and person willing (and unwilling, as the rumors has it) to lay their life on the line for the survival of their planet.

You’re a part of this revered division, whether you like it or not. Recruited or coerced, it doesn’t matter when the repertoire is as impressive as yours. Your past is erased from records and you exist to serve the greater good of humanity, saving innocent souls from the monsters prowling the lands and oceans.

Embrace your team, or use them for your own survival. Impress your superiors or take the path of a deserter. Meet cultists, erased soldiers, even a baby alien that seems the most innocent thing in the world. Uncover the secrets behind the rifts and the creatures it sends to your world, or keep the streets running red.

Welcome to the end days.

Welcome to CRONUS.

RO's

There will be (for now, at least) four romantic options. One RO is a genderlocked male, but the other three are up to your preferences!

Will you pursue love with a workaholic superior, going against every rule and regulation you’re both supposed to follow? Then Eddie’s your man. Do you prefer someone easygoing with unrivaled puns and jokes so you can party all night and slay monsters all day? Go for Fabien/Fabienne, or as they’re better known, Deadeye. Maybe you prefer a quiet, brooding mystery that no one invites to social functions in fear of them? As long as you don’t mind affectionately using Boomer instead of real names, Joel/Jade is the one to go to. Perhaps those with a techier side are your cup of tea, someone passionate with unrivaled hope for the future, and picket-fence dreams? Enjoy video games and daydreaming with Gabriel/Gabriela. It’s all up to you! The secret romance will be kept under lock and key though, sorry about that.

If romance and walks on the beach during sunset aren’t your thing, a fling here or there never hurt anyone; Even soldiers have to let off some steam sometimes. And if flings aren’t your thing and holding hands is uncomfortable, enjoy getting to know your team and establish life-long friendships that last through the centuries. Or at least until the aliens take over. Bah, details, details.

Or denounce your entire roster and go off on your own! Endless possibilities!

Ideas, other fun stuff, off-tangent rambling

You can choose one of 6 possible backgrounds for your character. Male, female, and nonbinary options are to be added to make the game suit your playstyle. Choose which militaristic strength to focus on while establishing a ever-shifting personality for your character throughout the game; No one sees battle and comes out the same every time.

Also to be added: Were you recruited or coerced into CRONUS? What was the superior skill that made them hone in on you? The alien invasion might be celebrating its five year anniversary, but are you closer to retirement than birth? A wide array of ages to choose from (currently planning 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, and contemplating on 60’s) that change how people treat you during your encounters.

Full, optional character customization! And by full, I mean FULL. Besides eye, hair, and skin color, prepare for tattoos, scars, piercings, facial hair, even the aftermath of war on your limbs, senses, and mental health. Your height? Major role in infiltration and combat sequences, even during your off time if you decide to go throw that butt in a circle on the dance floor!

There’s no demo yet, sadly, but I’m going to open a Tumblr page for inspiration and other creative ideas I come up with while working on this. If you want to embrace a future mess, here, you have been warned. Just kidding, I’m nice, and it’s a proper page.

I’ve actually thought about starting one recently! i think it’s got a lot of potential.

I agree that it has a lot of potential, but the biggest problem for me so far is the storyline. I have a general idea about the class system and what the stats will be, but it’s the story that’s killing me right now.

Here’s a couple that jump to mind for me (you’re welcome to use these or adapt them or whatever, of course)

  • MC is a prodigy who suffers a wrist injury and becomes the coach of a team who makes it to the world championship but one of your players gets sick on Finals day and you have to step in for one single match of glory

  • MC picks up a Moba to duo queue and bond with their kid but turns out to have an incredible talent for the game and has to balance a Real Life career with minor-league pro matches

  • MC begins as a hacker who sells exploit software but gets hired by the game production studio (after threatening legal action) and has to choose whether to work for the “good guys” or secretly continue assisting cheating players

Definitely interested in your story I like your plans for customization especially giving us many options like military strengths, age, tattoos, and am curious on what your plans are for limbs, senses and mental health. The fact that height would play a important role in your game is something I like very much and I think is underutilized in most wips. Looking forward to seeing the demo

Hey! So, I’ve been working on a story for a few months now. It’s something that I truly enjoy and would happily keep to myself, but I wanted to see how you guys would feel about reading something like this? It’s a murder-mystery with romance. Details are all below!

The Killing Seasons: Summer.

Summary

After a four-year dormancy, the infamous serial killer codenamed ‘The Season Slayer’ has attacked his first target. However, unlike the former twenty-eight victims—you have survived.

An alcoholic detective and a team of unwelcome FBI Agents must solve the case and keep you safe. Something easier said than done when old habits die hard, and you launch your own investigation. Starting with the tarot card he left behind at the crime scene.

The Killing Seasons: Summer, is a gritty murder-mystery and romance novel (one of four) set in a fictional dystopian city called ‘Paradise’, in the year 2101. It highlights the difficulties of recovering from severe emotional traumas. The damage that government corruption causes to the public. And it advocates against the unfair injustices people in lower social classes face on a day-to-day basis.

Written in British-English.

Your History and Role

You were a journalist whose sole focus was to investigate the blatant neglect toward cold case victims from The Fringes. A decaying corner in Paradise City that is without law enforcement and whose residents suffer. Your research and influence gained public attention, as well as the ire of the mayor and the wealthy who tarnished your reputation.

An entire year has passed since the fall of your career, and you grow exhausted by the strain of your crumbling life. Standing on the guardrail of an old bridge, a strange man approaches you for a chat but does nothing to intervene as you prepare to jump. Then, with one foot out into the open air, two hands press against your back and push…

But you didn’t die.

With a team of enforcers on your side, a long list of contacts, and a hunger for revenge. You take the law into your own hands and get ready to take down the killer yourself. No matter the consequences.

Details
  1. Play as male, female, or non-binary. With options for transgender characters (with or without surgeries).
  2. Play as gay, straight, asexual, touch-adverse, and more.
  3. Romance up to 5 characters. 3 are gender flippable, while the other 2 are non-binary and female. (There is one love triangle route.)
  4. Choose your weight, height, clothing, and features.
  5. Enjoy multiple choices in both flirting and personality building.
  6. Select an addiction or self-destructive behaviour that your character suffers from and help them recover.
  7. Strengthen your ‘mental health’ bar by attending therapy, taking your medication, connecting with others, and making the right choices. Or go in the opposite direction and see how your choices affect your character.
  8. Follow the clues that the killer leaves behind with or without help from your ‘team’.
  9. Strengthen your skills in: combat, weapons/explosives, intelligence/tactics, agility/stealth.
Romance Options
