Sounds like a you problem.

You haven’t received your promotion to Marshal or your command yet at Belos’s Sally. The troops listen to you during the Sally because you are projecting competence.

@STWalfs It is stated in text that you don’t have a command yet (and you get it after the Sally).

Nonsense. Punching him should garner more respect :yum:

No, we were the Marshall to begin with. We were named General after Belos’s Sally.

Regardless, I stand by arguement. Prison, Death, whatever. We should have stepped in charge, ensured Betos safety, which was paramount to begin with. Any commanding officer, or figure with experience would have done the same and ask for penance afterward.

Huh looks like the punch/talk scene is the main one that determines Verdan’s respect for you? :face_with_spiral_eyes: Unless I’m missing something

dang it i only get 2 respect points in every playthrough

what are the other ones???

No, it’s just one point. The opportunities to get respect are:

  • "It was only my duty." (if you revealed Sobik’s death)
  • So you take it off and try to comfort him. (witnessing Belos’s death)
  • "It's not worth it, brother," you say with a sigh. "Don't break this family even more." (when Vedran throws a tantrum after hearing news)
  • let him talk when given option to let him talk or punch
  • "If you promise to be less of a dipshit." (when asked to accept apology)
  • "Just makin' sure you're okay," you say genuinely. (visiting him before the battle)
  • surrendering without fight when Vedran does his coup
  • "I'm not letting you out of this cell just because of that," you say dryly. (when visiting him in the cell, with high respect)

Getting only one of these is kind of impressive, in its own way. /s

Punching him costs one point of respect so you went from 2 to 1. The last option only shows up if Vedran’s respect is at 4+ (his personality changes quite a bit at this threshold, it’s quite interesting experience)

Hm I usually punch him and fight back at the camp. Didn’t pick the first three options but did do the next two. I don’t think I even got the last option. Looking at the spaghetti code and apparently going quietly also helps.

What we gain from getting from Verand high respect ?

Also does Belos have the same character description as Verdan? I kinda imagined him with short hair

We have no official title until we’re given control of the armies, he says he’ll consider giving it to you, but he never actually does, and even if our position as the marshal still stood, we still wouldn’t have had any authority. Plus, even without that, trying to save his ass, was never going to work, one guy against him, his brother, and all their bodyguards, forget it.

Is there any way to force a fight on Rade’s forces after choosing to give them the Vietnam experience and attrit them into extinction? It seems the option to fight and the option to attrit are mutually exclusive, and I was considering the possibility that a Marshal who’s initially outnumbered could choose to whittle Rade down until the enemy is half-starved and half-dead.

Or I could be forgetting some details, which I admit is a very real possibility.
