I, the Forgotten One Release Thread (1.2)

It has been released!

All future comments and feedback should be consolidated here. Thank you so much for your support over these last three years!

Patchnotes
1.1
  • Complete code overhaul for both the guerrilla campaign and the final battle proper
  • Knights on both sides now take significantly more casualties
  • Infantry losses are now proportional based on the ratio between levies and retinue
  • Cavalry on both sides have been made much more lethal; the rebel cavalry reaching your line is enough to practically guarantee a loss
  • The casualties for rangers is now influenced by where you have them positioned
  • Added a brief, optional prelude with additional advice
  • Bug fixes (including the negative cavalry casualties error)
1.2
  • Tweaks to Heavy Cavalry Casualties (hopefully preventing negative losses)
  • Tapering effect to damaged inflicted by rebels
  • Major bug fixes

I am so curious about this game. Have not played the demo, did not follow the wip thread, did not even really read wip thread’s first post to find out more. Yet, people’s excitement here made me intrigued enough to pick this up

And so far, I like what I see! Still in the free chapters, but so far no reason not to buy the game.

I know a bunch of guys earlier were asking you about an achievement guide; thoughts on when you’ll create one of those?

I really need romance/relationship guide:( From what I played during the WIP, I didn’t know how to romance the male ro when I chose options that were “oh physical attraction/love at first sight” only 1-2 times.

Literally one of the best WIPs out

I have finished my first playthrough with tears in my eyes. Tears of joy getting to play it (and for my Marshal and her loved ones), and tears of sadness that it’s over (for now anyway).

Here are my first run achievements

Thank you all for your congratulations, and I hope the finished product lives up to your expectations!

I’ll put together one in the upcoming days once things settle down.

I’ll make a romance guide with the achievement guide, too.

I’m glad to hear it!

I have been eagerly waiting for this game’s release and it has certainly not disappointed. It’s been a while since I last played the demo so I don’t quite remember, but is Lada the only female romance?

Glorious. I loved taking the throne from Elya

Bought it as soon as it was out, poured myself a glass of wine and have been reading for the past hours. This has to be one of the best IFs out there, in my opinion at least.
So now the logical choice to make is to pour myself another glass and read it once again.

Congratulations @Bacondoneright on a fantastic book!

Congrats @Bacondoneright –

“Interactive fiction done right” seems to be a fitting summary for how I view I, The Forgotten One.

I eagerly await book two. :revolving_hearts:

Finished my first run. Big spoilers ahead:

I lost the frontal battle against Rade and in consequence Elya was wounded by certain enemy knight. Despite doing a heroic sally and organizing the retreat my Marshal came too late to prevent the injury, yet at the time I thought she would recover.

…Only for her to die when I less expected it: A day before her coronation. It felt like crap: After fighting for so long, after remaining loyal and true to the only sibling he loved, my Marshal failed to protect his sister at the end.

Normally endings in which I adquire power are considered good, but after having to take the title of Prince Regent, this… This is pure, absolute tragedy and pain. The Marshal adquired the throne at the cost of the person he loved the most, and there is very little left for him except vengeance. Not sure if even Darin or Lada can truly help him out of such a thirst for retribution, but at least he seemed a lil bit better in the ending sequence.

All in all, I am surprised that this route exists in the first place, and it left such an impression with me that I think I will continue from here in the sequel:
