Hero Project: Redemption Season News and Discussion

My question really is who in the hell Beta testing this game!!!? Because almost all fans opinions are exactly the same. And many of us are gay or non binary so is not bigotry. I paid for a Super Hero game and I am not getting a super hero game. It is like I enter in The barbecue bacon belly restaurant and the menu is only carrots and onions!! It’s felt like false advertising. But the beta tester hired they should be fired on sight

Beta testers are technically hired to find bugs, while some people accept story criticism from beta testers it can be hit and miss in that. I’ve tested video games where the developers welcomed any insight into story problems that I had, and actually responded to them… I’ve also tested some where I would have been immediately cut had I critiqued something ‘subjective’ like the story, all I was there for was bugfinding.

Does anyone know if Sergi is following the forum? I was wondering if he was following the reviews of the game off of steam.

They are bad on steam too, I suppose. But He had to know that something like that eould happen with a so Political propaganda guion, there is no hero stuff whatsoever in the game. It looks more like Chiken Oprah The discrimination show!!

I feel like that’d be an important part of beta testing something that solely depends on the story. I think bugs are just as big of an issue, but with a game that’s honestly just words on a screen, story’s 90% and mechanics are at least 10%.

Though, I get that. Writing itself is such a touchy subject, but damn, did this game come off as just a giant platform for social issues. I read someone here saying they couldn’t help but compare it to X-men and that Marvel came out on top there. And I’d have to agree. This entire game seems like a showboat of social issues and I’m gay as fuck and would love social equality and to not be discriminated, but the target audience for this game seems to be LGBT+ individuals so… Preaching to the choir. And it’s preaching so much that a lot of us who are aware and active in our own issues are tired of it.

Honestly, I came to play some gay ass superhero, not to be lectured on social economic issues about gender identity and sexual orientation thinly veiled in categorized super powers. If I wanted that, I’d go read X-men AND I am AND I feel more connected to the fact that my favorite character in the series is gay (Iceman fanboy aha fuck he’s aaaa) than a character I’m supposed to connect with deeply on principal of the fact that it’s supposed to represent who I am as a person.

I finally got to buying and playing this game, and as someone who romanced Jury at the end of Heroes Rise: HeroFall, I feel heartbroken, almost to the point where I want to wipe this installment from my memory, or just not even import my old saved game into this one ever again, and pretend that it didn’t happen and go on my marry way.

To me, personally, that doesn’t feel right. I feel cheated almost. I know that Zachary probably has some plot related reasons for doing this, but it essentially feels like a cop-out.

I wish that instead of breaking up my past MC’s romance and having her cheated on, he had come up with something else, and given me the happy ending I worked though three games to achieve. Again, I will just say I feel cheated.

This:
Propaganda: Anti Discrimination the Game, sums up the game in a nutshell.

I’m not sure if my poor heart can go though anymore disappointments like it did while playing this… :sob:

You’re absolutely not alone in this. I went into the last game thinking the Jury romance would be a nifty little alternate thing, but that last bit, however minimal it was, really struck a cord and had me invested in seeing both my MC and Jury happy. So, finding out that they didn’t, in fact, get their happy ending like the rest of the LIs (minus Prodigal) kinda felt like a gut punch.

Correct me if I’m wrong but Jury’s romance is the only one from the original triliogy (outside of prodigal) that got the short end of the stick, right?

I think if he made it so if Jury was the romance, Black Magic was the person sleeping with Lyra would have worked. Both them and Jury have their superhero careers in arguable freefall, as BM had the whole “source of magic” and “reality warper who low-key destroys stuff to save their lover” thing going on.

Actually, now that I think about it, the Victons make the MC look even more obliviously out of touch. One of them was THE PRESIDENT. Regardless of whether or not you follow superheroes, if THE PRESIDENT OF THE COUNTRY YOU LIVE IN was doing this you’d be hearing about it nonstop.

As far as I know, BM, Lucky, and Jenny are your fiancées. So yeah.

It’s fixed. You can just restart Steam.

I believe so, it’s almost like Zachary just threw his hands up into the air and said, “Screw it, making Jury as a romance option was a mistake, time to fix it at the players expense.”

WITHOUT EVEN GIVING US A CHOICE IN THE MATTER, no less.

As an avid reader and writer, this just feels wrong to me and isn’t something I would put my readers though, even if I knew what I had done had been a mistake.

You can find different ways, other than segregating those that enjoyed the Jury romance by breaking them up, to fix past mistakes that you feel like you might have made rather than breaking the hearts of a big player base.

@RedRoses
That would have been an amazing idea, too bad Zachary felt the need to break our hearts in the way he did, rather than adding this in.

Tried that. As well as uninstall and reinstall. It just do not work.

Hmm. Everyone who wrote in about DLC has responded that it’s now working (we fixed it over the weekend.) Please email support at choiceofgames.com in order for me to investigate further.

So, am I the only sucker who fell for Griffin? :kissing_closed_eyes: I think, especially considering I went for Crook over in Community College Heroes, that I may have a thing for older, slightly washed up heroes. Granted, I am slightly miffed at his reaction to your MC’s appearance the day after, but I’m not surprised considering we’re supposed to feel the brunt of what exactly it’s like to be the MC with their powerset.

You are the best at describing things.

I forgot to say, here is another “if you don’t care about societal problems, you are going to be punished”.
If your PC has low leaderboards points and dont speak about the StarSoar problems then there is a Societal check, if you pass you continue and you gain a lot of Legend points, if your Personal stats is high then you are eliminated.
If you have high leaderboards points and high Personal, then you can pass even if you dont speak about StarSoar, but you dont gain any legend, because you “aren’t doing what a Personal person would do” and can only gain Legend by exposing or blackmailing StarSoar.

Well I was tweeting the Zach about a potential side series with the original MC and their current issues with this ‘Infinitum’ problem. He said:

I wish I could get excited, but now the cynic on me only think a continuation would only destroy the first trilogy and would be a game about discrimination issues.

I don’t think I will be buying this game superhero are cool and I like the world but I hate preset past and having to do something cause of a family member I as a player does not care about.

I swear i am trying to describe stuff like native English people to avoid the trolling. But I can’t It is my personal way to describe stuff and write and each time I get excited about a theme I care, Boom! Exuberants Mara’s descriptions, and then trolls called me clown via pm. I now you don’t see it that way. But I starting to think is a handicap here, people don’t take me seriously because of my writing skills.
