I am reading this at 7:49 am, just awakened. Lol
I read the beginning wrong. Like the cave is made of five dead bodies… Flashbacks to Dawnguard Skyrim DLC lol.
Now, seriously, it is a good hook starter page
Came up with a new concept that I feel like moving forward with, rough concept premise more than anything.
Summary
Artificial intelligence, which is fitting for what you are. An artificial being with intelligence. A being made to fulfil a purpose by its great creators, well, that’s the directive you were given, but you were nothing more than a weapon. Logically, there was nothing wrong with being a weapon, but a problem you didn’t foresee is that weapons are eventually discarded in favour of peace when it’s favourable.
After being shut down permanently, you find yourself in a simulation of sorts? You’re a human now, or something very close to it. Scanning the data or what humans call memories of your new body, you are a king, or an emperor, since you control an empire. Under normal circumstances, you would spend time analyzing your situation but you have been poisoned. With only two hours left before the poison corrodes your new body, what shall you do to survive?
Thoughts? a bit lengthy but I needed to get the basic gist of what I want to write.
Ohhh, I like it. It can go multiple genres from horror to something 90’s action film.
And a reminder to everyone. Play with the words of the theme. Or be literal, both are valid.
And with play I mean this. AI overlords. Can mean a company two Dudes call Albert and Ian that are called by their enemies AI…
The theme this year is all about playing with the words.
Playing with words is what I do!
Assuming I can get my stress levels drop to a level where my brain is able to function properly. Here’s hoping.
I know that state. One starts to write weird stuff in that mood. Once I was so zoned out that I wrote an entire chapter in three different languages mixing them lol. It was bizarre next day when I opened the project
That’s the “it’s 2 AM and I haven’t slept in 48 hours” phase. I’m currently at “I’ve been stressed out since May and can’t form complex thoughts, let alone words” one.
I love it! A robot’s perspective on becoming something human-like, plus the time pressure and stakes of having been poisoned.
I enjoy romantic fantasy isekais (well, “enjoy” isn’t always the right word) so I’m planning to do something with that and be a bit silly with it too. Basically I want to do a bunch of unserious things/use common tropes that I won’t in my future big rofan isekai.
I was trying to figure out who the canon male lead or what the plot of the original rofan novel was, but then realized maybe I should go for an otome isekai instead of a novel. I still do need some semblance of a plotline for the otome game but none of the love interests being positioned above the others as “the male lead” feels right, at least.
Also, I had the villainess character’s family name set as “Vicaris” but when I decided she was the daughter of a marquis, the temptation was too strong and I changed the family name to “Varquis.” So her father is Marquis Varquis and it’s so stupid but it’s also super funny to me. So yeah, I’m having a lot of fun with this.
Working on my outline, but it’s close to done. Why do I always default to planning puzzles when I never include any in the finished version? At any rate, Slime Havoc is my working title. Don’t worry @poison_mara, these aren’t DnD slime! They’re little, they’re cute. They’re teleporting through the walls of the space station and chewing on computer cables!
At least they aren’t gazebos or mimics. The damn Gazebo is probably one of the best known cases of dumb players turn up epic
I first read about that in an early Knights of the Dinner Table. That’s also where I read about the hysterical incident with the Head of Vecna.
Yeah. The results now are that ever a Gazebo is referred for players are paranoid about it. I used once a Gazebo mimic in a murder party in a session of Ravenloft
This guy was likely not even born when the gazebo first struck.
Totally but it is a clear sign of how much power the words and human stupidity possess. And how much one can play with wording. It is like the case of the player that thought that a warehouse was a type of werebeast.
And to return to the Jam topic and my insistence on playing with wording. With enough imagination anything in the theme can turn in anything else.
Totally not noting down that Gazebo mimic to crop up in the campaign I’m currently running now ![]()
Werehouse! ![]()
I’m thinking of writing a story where the MC ends up in a team of multiversally displaced superheroes and villains Exiles-style, but that’s the furthest I’ve gotten yet besides getting inspired by some card battle cards I made ages ago. ![]()
Check in internet some versions about the mythic werehouse. As it is not as well documented there are several versions of the legend.
And about Gazebos and all the Vecna. The mythic is so ingrained for the player that whatever the element appears players would become totally paranoid about it. And the quest will become how to kill the Gazebo. Due there is no way there is a gazebo and not being something
Good thing I play Delta Green and not DnD. ![]()
creative block/uncertainty is kicking my butt! methinks a writing sprint to speed through 2,000 words for this jam is in order. i got a bit of a late start today, though. maybe will try for 1,000 words today and the next 1,000 tomorrow? idk. i’ll have to check back in in a little bit to confirm if i got any work done or not, haha!
it really is! i have been chugging away over here, actually—not a concrete plan in mind whatsoever, just a loose premise and having fun with it. it feels so good to just write, no strings attached. and 2,000 words feels so manageable, which is a huge help. i’m at, like…600 right now? most of the text is in the ending branchy bits, too, so i just get to add more to the other mini-scenes and i think i’ll hit the word count limit in basically no time!
it feels AWESOME! the one really hard thing about writing IF is it takes so long (normally) to actually finish a project. i’m coming from a short story/short screenplay/novella background, so it’s sad not getting to tie projects up with a nice bow and call them “done” as often with ChoiceScript work. needless to say, i’m SO excited to finally get to do that here, hahah!
