Its not just to do with the original genders or whatever. Artemis is too strongly associated with women for a genderbent version to make any sense. It’d be like making Poseidon king of the desert.
Kind of a pointless argument to make when every god seems to be gender flippable like Zeus/Jackie and Dame/Aphrodite
Plus reincarnation is a thing in this story
Zeus is the strongest male predator in history and they’re a woman now so don’t really matter. They’re myths at the end of the day.
I think this makes it interesting.
I see what you mean, I hadn’t thought of that. I wont change it because I feel the gods are more powers rather than personalities in this canon/world. But it does bring up an interesting topic I hadn’t even considered. I’ll ruminate on this and see if I can’t figure something out.
If it makes you feel any better I am leaning heavily into the “hunting” aspect of Artemis rather than anything else. For each god I lean more into a vague aspect that can be used as an actual power. But I still see what you mean.
Right, so our MC isn’t the same person as ancient Ares? That would clear some things up. ‘Reincarnated’ led me to believe that we, and by extension, the rest of the gods, were the same deities as in ancient Greece. But if we’re just different people who have inherited that power that explains it.
Edit: that being said i personally wouldn’t portray a new Artemis as man, but i do understand it now. Looking forward to reading more
Still, I enjoy writing about topics of gender/sexuality so I am going to use that aspect somewhere down the line, so thanks for the topic idea!
Well God have aspect like domain as long that particular God doesn’t stray from that I think it’s fine.
you know when they say “devil’s in the details”? welp, Jackie never outright stated that a finger must be cut off from Pete only (red underline), but it must be an offering from him/under his name (blue underline).
you have 11 (10 gods, 1 human) people in the room. 110 fingers to choose from. there should be an option to pick up the knife and cut off from anybody (Jackie, Dame, Verne… yourself. or Pete). judging from earlier info-dump, regeneration should kick off and get unlucky god to regrow a finger at a later date.
perhaps make it a choice for subterfuge and charisma mains? knowledge also works, but then it leaves out might mains… something to ponder for you, author
This is a great idea!
So Sacrificing God for another God? Normally Immortal being have rules that view this negatively like Vampire shun diablerism and stuff like that.
I am curious, it seems like (from what I can tell) Jackie is of the belief that all the currents gods are the past versions of the same gods. Do any of them believe that they’re entirely separate people from previous versions? Like, “yes I have X’s memories but that doesn’t mean I am X”
I assumed they are the same people as their past lives, but they aren’t necessarily the same people that their versions in our world would be.
Hmmm, aside from Ares it actually seems the gods get their previous incarnation’s memories at the age of 16, at least according to the author’s tumblr. The sheer weight of thousands of years of memories vs 16 little years…
It does seem like gods being “powers” and not “personality” might be inconsistent with the IF’s lore, but I guess I’ll have to wait and see.
I just want to ask Jackie if the story about them turning into a horse to smash a lady is true
A bull and a swan… And a golden shower*
Out of all these people, who has captured your heart?

How did some of y’all vote twice?
Sigourney, can’t help it, the single mom just trying her best, while dealing with a bunch of shit, always attracts my attention.
