so confusing
at the end I gad absolutly no clue what was going on plus I feel like you where building up suspense at the end but killed that without even really explaining anything
@Samuel_H_Young, You know what would be great? If we could tell our thoughts from what we say out loud…
@doctor
I probably shouldn’t have, but I cackled like a witch. xD
I really liked it, but the ending seemed to build up then end rather suddenly. We get to the too expecting to save Silvana only to find out that she doesn’t need saving and we get very little explanation about what was going on. For example why did she take the form of the eleven girl? Or why even pretend to be kidnapped in the first place? If the protagonist learned that well on his own I imagine a teacher would help more.
@Iggles Air is the one I’ve gotten most. For that you just have to be charming, noncommittal, a little lazy, and caring.
when patch died I was about to go rally a horde armed with steaks(hehe meat jokes) and torches but luckily i decided to finish the rest of the game first.
@alexxo97 from what i understand in the end you restart your life one more time but this time you keep your memory’s of the previous life. and by doing so you get to ignore the parts in the game where you and Silvana get separated and instead she teaches you what you need to know by the time the asteroid gets to the planet.(unless of course you understood that stuff already in which case i feel silly for typing part of the comment)
just did my first playthrough and i am curios,does elements really change anything,i have only played through once as an air mage but i am wondering if i get different scenes(more than how i kill a bloke) or choices or anything
and if so can i get a guide to all the elements,for the life of me i cant get fire
@Matteller
I haven’t checked, myself, but I don’t believe it would change much.
And to get fire, you have to be really emotional. (At least, that’s how it worked for me.)
Well, I bought two copies of Fatehaven to show my support for these kinds of games (one on Google Chrome and one on iTunes), and I’m pretty disappointed with this release.
The whole thing felt like a prologue for the ending, which ended being summed up as, “And big stuff happened. The end.”
The game felt too tongue-in-cheek for me, although thinking about it, I would say its style could be an anime series (sometimes too zany, sometimes too serious).
Personally, I don’t mind a more linear type of game like Heroes Rise, because I love the Heroes Rise series. That being said, it felt like both the stats and decisions were completely meaningless; you always pass even if you fail, and the same things always happen. Even the first Heroes Rise felt like it had more interactivity to it.
Ultimately, Fatehaven was just kind of “blah” for me – I’d rate it a 3/10. However, I don’t regret purchasing it, like I do with Fall of Memphis and Planetary Quarantine, so there is that.
My main concern isn’t the linearity or the predefined character; what bothers me most is that everything that seems like it should be a choice, isn’t.
@MultipleChoice Oh I don’t have a problem with tsunderes. Just that when Brigid is tsun to me and so is Patches, it makes it hard to choose.
Tsunderes are cute :3 like those hard chocolates that are so tough to bite but once you do, your mouth is flushed with hot goey richness and sweeetness
@Scelous Looking back I liked the demo but then it suddenly dropped in writing quality after you left your hometown. Also, I felt like we played a small role for the ending despite you know…being the main character.
It’d be as if HP killed the bad guy and then the war stopped. The end. I know it’s not a very long game but how about leaving it as the MC kept working on his/her magic skills.
I’ve gotten all the elements except for Fire. They don’t actually do anything except for small written changes during the fights.
Still replaying through the chapters available for preview but I found a typo.
“Usually it isn’t lit up like a touch”
“So why are you drinking until you needed three legs to stand up?”
That’s a really good question, actually, seeing as I hate alcohol.
“Hate” is a strong word… and so is “strong”
@Doctor
Lol xD I have a STRONG HATE for when people say that. I’m definitely allowed to have powerful emotions, especially against things that are detrimental.
So I finished three endings last night, each dealing with the *three* love interests ( I think there is only three in the game at least…) While I enjoyed the first ending I got ( Patch’s ending) subsequent play throughs were very lack luster. Especially considering you can literally just skip pages of dialogue and pick choices in order to get the ending you want and for the most part ( besides the small scenes with the chosen love interest) nothing really changed. Granted, you pretty much skip in all Choose Your Own Adventure type games but there is one very big difference with this one: I didn’t care to read through it again.
The demo was very entertaining and filled with possibles, although I didn’t keep up to date on the work in progress forum so maybe what happens was to be expected. I just expected some sweeping epic, not working at some…place. To be frank I think the love interests could have been expanded on more especially Silvanus. I understand the player character had a whole summer to get to know the guy but the problem is that we the PLAYER did not get to see that relationship develop. It’s very easy to say you love a guy, but its a whole other ballgame to go into detail about why.
The endings for the most were ‘okay’, again Silvanus in my opinion was the weakest ( which is shame because I was very much looking forward to romancing him when I played the demo). The whole game over all just felt very anticlimactic. I applaud you on finishing the game, I know writing can be very trying on a person, and I wish you success in the future. I think you have the potential to write some very good Choice of games, just I hope you don’t lose sight of WHY people enjoy these games so much in the first place. Good stories are of course welcome, but if we wanted to read a good story we could go to any library or bookstore and pick up a novel and read it. What makes Choice of Games so special is having a impact on the story, to see how our choices make a difference in the narrative. To be frank, Fatehaven while enjoyable the first time, did not achieve this. I understand you warned us about it before hand, but I was hoping it wouldn’t be that big of a deal in the long run.
I hope this doesn’t sound too mean, and I wish you success in your next game.
I decided to pm directly.
I’ve noticed that the amount of choices in the second half drastically decreases generally, 3 or 4 is the ideal amount of options (in my opinion) but we only get 2.
Ugh…it’s getting pretty irritating to have Patch yell at me every 5 minutes for something I was forced to do.
This was probably my favorite game to date! I started to freak out at the final battle, wondering if I had messed up a step! But it was a great twist! Loved it!
