Drip Campaign post

I came to the forum after I stumbled upon Tin Star, and the WiPs and ease of Choicescript encouraged me to write my own game. Even though I have rewritten it many times, I still get feedback everytime without fail, and having a continued group of helpers/supporters makes me feel better and want to write more.

:woman_shrugging:t2: That’s just me tho.

Gaslighting is usually pretty difficult to do on a forum where all the communication is done through text and anyone can just go back and see what was said.

On a text-based forum it’s also impossible to read tone.

I think perhaps a discussion dedicated to “Experiences on the Forums” that you might be able to link to in the campaign, where everybody is invited to share some of the things that they love in the forums.

Sort of like a user-review thread?

This, of course, wouldn’t be a particularly written email, but it’ll guarantee accuracy and be holistic to every type of forum user, from those that are here for the fandom discussions, the games releases, the coding troubles and the WIP connoisseurs.

Perhaps Hosted Games Authors could be invited to share their successes and how those have been influenced on the Forums as well? Everybody loves a good success story, right?

I suppose there’s a danger to repetition, though.

The emails could give a brief summary of these and any other types of users or a general overview of what could attract the new users.

This is what I try to achieve from the letter I’ve written.

Maybe you guys have any input to it?

Uh, sure, yes:

That part is my favourite :<
But sure! It’s duly noted. Anything else?

Sure, which is why it was concerning for me to see one official respond to a member as though the member was completely misinterpreting what another official had just said — after all, the text log right there.

I’m pretty sure it was just an honest mistake. We’re all human, we don’t interpret everything correctly the first time.

Hi guys, I’m circling back on this. So, Jason initially laid out the notion that the forum would somehow “write” this post, but I misunderstood him (and disagreed with him!). However, the drip campaign has become mine to manage, and I now have the opportunity to uh…do things my way.

My way would be crafting the email myself, using quotes from folx on the forum. So if you want to submit a quote in this thread, please do.

Which is to say, how would you answer the question: Why should someone new to COG’s games join the forum?

If you’ve already shared something above, I’ll reach out to you over DM if I want to include it in the email, just to triple check that you’re happy with your words being shared and credited to your username.
