December 2025 Writer Support Thread

Welcome all to the support thread for December 2025. Doesn’t time fly?

The writer support thread is a low-pressure, low-judgement space to talk about writing, share our progress and ask for feedback or questions. Thank you again to everyone who participates in these threads and helping to support each other.

WIPs

I will also be featuring some WIP threads here. Please feel free to take a look and provide feedback (or even just leave a comment) if you have the time. Feel free to comment or reach out if you want yours added to the list. (If I missed anyone out, please let me know.)

Deux à Deux by @raywilson

The Mark of the Devil by @M.K.Bramble

Era of the Archdemons by @Sylents

Also, no pressure, but I would also encourage that folks here try to exchange feedback for their WIPs with each other.

Resource Sharing

Jacic has a very useful resource for folks who might need art for their game. Stock art websites are a free way to get solid art for your game, if you don’t have the budget to pay for commissions.

If you need help with getting game art or cover art, feel free to ask for help on this forum.

Anything else?

That’s all. Feel free to reach out to me if you want anything added.

I haven’t done much writing in a few months. This month I want to get back on track and write 20k words, most likely of A Specter Over Kilerth

Ah, December. The last month of the year. Today, I will be uploading a partially (90%, to be exact) voiced version of Ozone Ashes today; and after that, I’ll work on the final chapter of Lily Adventuresses! Episode 3, as I’ve slated its release before this year’s end.

My main goal is that I want to release my WIP demo no later than December 20th, with at least 60000 words. I would love to see the feedback and interest. I want to determine if I continue the WIP or go with another option.

Hopefully I’ll get some feedback! Five comments is my goal.

Happy Birthday, December Babies! :birthday_cake:

I did not complete NaNoWriMO. I think I got about 30k words in and got distracted and struggled to figure out what to write. I had unfortunately outpaced the detailed bits of my outline, so I wasn’t able to work at the same pace. Add on that I started to have more ideas about yet another story.

Right now, I’m working on an outline for a side story, so that it can get out of my mind for a bit. I might write some of it, but normally, planning is enough to appease my mind so I can get back to writing my main story.

This is a video on writing needs and wants for characters. While I also normally recommend having a Lie and a Ghost, this is a good start.

I have nothing for this month.

I should work on project V so I guess the goal this month is to wrap up the evening portion and head over to that one.

Thanks so much for setting up the thread @ChanceOfFire!

For December I’m aiming to get at least halfway through coding Chapter 5 of my secret project.

This month, I am finishing my degree. Finally, after many struggles that extended my schooling for what felt like forever. After which, I will have significantly more time to myself, and more importantly, a huge mental weight off my chest. Won’t set any writing goals for this month while I’m wrapping up finals, but next year will be the year I’m serious about this game since I’ll be in the perfect position.

With A Time of Monsters out, I’ve spent some time focusing on bug fixes and the like - but now that those have dried up, I’ve started devoting most of my effort to Shadow of the Eagles, which is definitely something more in my wheelhouse.

Naturally, I’ll be pushing out of my comfort zones in other ways (which Twine lets me do), by incorporating a UI and music/sound (among other things), and some systems which I’ve always been hesitant to incorporate (like constant character progression) before. It’ll be a lot more game than story this time around, which is something I’m both excited and nervous about handling.

It’ll also be the first project which I’m intending to completely self-fund and self-publish, without outside direction or support from above, which means I’m going to have one hell of a time putting it together.

Hello everyone,

Last month, I released the demo of my first IF game. This community has been very supportive, and it’s been an awesome experience getting my work out for everyone to see!

I naturally lean more writer than developer, so whenever my code gets complicated or there is a lot of branching, I find myself deep in the struggle.

My hope is to drop a 10k word update this month, and see how far I can get ahead to help with next month’s drop.

Thank you for consistently releasing the monthly digest, and wishing you good health!

My goal for this month is a milestone rather than a wordcount. I just want to finish the skeleton for this chapter. I only have two major scene, and one smaller transition scene to add, so I hope to finish that within the first two weeks, so I can start filling in the empty choices.

Hope everyone has a great December!

That’s almost exactly where I’m at. Have a WIP that’s 50k words to end of chapter 3. But had an idea for another and wrote a 10k chapter 1. Can’t decide where to put my focus.

And as promised, here’s the 90% voiced version of Ozone Ashes. The final update will come on the 30th anniversary of the tragedy (March 18, 2026).
