Villains Leave No Graves {Demo Updated 11/3 ; 8k Words}

You know what it’s like to die. Intimately so.

After all, that’s something you only get to do once. Or, at least that’s what most would think, but when you’re reincarnated into an old book series you used to be obsessed with as a kid, you’re forced to reckon with the idea that there’s more to death than an ominous veil of darkness and everlasting peace. Far from it—after all, no rest for the wicked, and you’ve reawakened as the most wicked of them all.

  • Live and die and live again in a story of second chances, perspective, and peddled narratives, whilst you navigate the precarious world of upper society as the villain of a tale you used to know so intimately well.
  • Make enemies, friends, and maybe even something more with a diverse cast that once enchanted you in your childhood, and perhaps see a bit more to them than the author was willing to explore
  • Play to the classic image you’ve grown accustomed to or don’t, just be prepared to face the consequences either way.

And remember, always remember, that villains leave no graves.

Main Cast Overview

Araminta/Araminthas de Doloryn (The default original villain)

(Appearance Customizable; NOT an RO) The villain of A Tragedy of Grace, Arami was taken in by the heads of the house of Doloryn shortly after their mother’s death, being seen as a sort of replacement to the child the couple lost from stillbirth. Growing up, Arami held an ill, almost inexplicable temperament, and, combined with their complicated relationships with the remainder of the head family of Doloryn, went on to become a venomous and vengeful noble of upper society.

Eventually revealed to be the cursed devilspawn of prophecy which threatens the future the reborn saint would bring about, Arami is eventually smited and cast back down to the hells which birthed them.

Maristella/Maristel de Fiorenselle (The original protagonist)

(Same Gender as Villain) The original protagonist of A Tragedy of Grace, Mari was born to a minor family in the house of Fiorenselle, a quaint childhood in the countryside giving way to rigorous lessons in virtue and purity, as is custom of the house. They are everything one would seek out in a hero—humble, self-sacrificing, and dedicated to doing good.

Of course, it goes to say that no one ever thinks to check in on such a blessed individual—after all, the story says the weight of the world on one’s shoulders is a privilege, not a burden, and no one goes against what is written.

Domenico/Domenica de Cavalleux (The original romantic lead)

(Opposite Gender from Villain) The romantic lead for the original protagonist, as well as the inconveniently betrothed of the villain, Domeni was born to the head of the house of Cavalleux. Practically bred and raised for greatness, Domeni sits as the shining star of society, always loved, always looked up to. Their kind and responsible nature, however, can at times be overshadowed by their naïve ideals of justice and their clumsy but earnest attempts at enforcing it.

The perfect partner for a perfect protagonist, Domeni is depicted to be a prize more than a person.

Leandro de Serenne (The guard) ; Violetta de Nerozziere (The playwright)

Violetta de Nerozziere

(Female) Quick-witted and sharp in both mind and tongue, Violetta was born under the house of Nerozierre, quickly finding her place in this home of performers as the one behind the quill and parchment. Her astute observations and biting delivery via weekly plays has made her a well-respected playwright that noble society relies upon to get their weekly dose of gossip and opinions.

Lenient with every truth but her own, she is the one responsible for ousting the prophesied villain to the public, thus effectively signing their death warrant.

Leandro de Serenne

(Male) An orphan taken in by the house of Serenne, Leandro maintains a strong sense of duty and fealty to the church which took him in. Honorbound and litigious to a fault, he does his best to justify his fortunate circumstances and distance himself from the street rat he once was, eventually landing in the position of the executioner for a villain suddenly ousted to the public.

One must wonder, though, how his devout and steady nature will interact with such a sinful interest in the so-called proclaimed villain of the story.

Very nice start. Looking forward to seeing more of this story.

There are a few errors when you talk to Maddalena for the first time. In the second and fourth choice.

Cool! A “Reborn as a Villainess” IF, which i don’t remember seeing as much in cogdemos. Glad to see that you can still incorporate your music of choice too!

i did notice one game-breaking bug but other than that, everything seems to be in order.

Approach towards Maddalena

Second choice (aka "Nothing’s the matter) breaks the game

Noted and fixed! Thank you for pointing it out :DD

Thanks for the specific line, figured out I forgot to establish the relationship variable in startup LOL. Should be fixed now!

And right??? I love reborn villainess stuff so much, I’m surprised there isn’t a big cog that capitalized on the specific sort of manhwa/manhua/manga version of villainess stories (at least that I know of). You know I had to make use of my vsynth for that lullaby heheh (btw what’s with me and lullabies???).

i have seen some proof-of-concept tumblr blogs but sadly, no demo.

In the topic of the game, i think it’s funny that we can have “death by Truck-kun” option. ̶(̶s̶o̶r̶r̶y̶ ̶b̶u̶t̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶s̶o̶r̶r̶y̶ ̶M̶C̶)̶

Heh, well looks like we’re changing that starting now.

And I simply could not live with myself if I did not pay homage to the classic ferry to isekai land, AKA Truck-kun!!

Thank you, just… thank you. I’ve been waiting for something like this since the start of time. I’m glad you actually didn’t use AI

I like the start already!

I’m actually surprised there aren’t more isekai/reincarnated as the villain/ess types of games because they could be very fun to explore imo.

I only remember one such IF which sadly got abandoned iirc.

Looking forward to more! Also love the portraits of the characters!

This was a really good read… kinda light, not too dense, but still witty with interesting dialouge options to choose from.

Love it! I’ve always imagined what it would be like to be in a novel. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the story!

Is A an RO or just the other info in the section? Because I’m a little confused by their addition to the list

Nice start so far! Also love the option to be a different gender reborn. That comes with a lot of problems. Haha. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Seems really really interesting so far can’t wait for more and also really curious how evil you can be

Bit too early on to say much, but I like the premise.
I’ll probably end up being more evil rather than trying to play a nice version of the villain, so we’ll see how that goes.

preps my character to be a vengeful good girl.

I won’t start shit but I for sure will end it if it comes!

A neat looking demo so far! It caught me off guard doing the character customization before I realized I had been customizing the original body. Really excited to see more of the setting!

Thank you everyone for the kind words! Hopefully I can get out more of chapter 1 in the upcoming week :DD

A is not an RO, I just added their picture because that whole dropdown was a placeholder. I’ll be adding the updated information here, but this masterpost on my tumblr also does a good job at giving all the necessary story and character info.

WAY MORE THAN OKAY, I’D LITERALLY GO BANANAS

Anyways, excited to write more for this game and see the personalities of your villains shine through as the story progresses! Be sure to check out my tumblr if you want to engage more >O<
