Children of the Gods (Important poll #12306)

No worries. I wasn’t offended, just surprised, but it’s very gracious of you to apologize. (I’m not Catholic myself, but the comparison seemed a bit off, as Zeus has never really done anything positive for the MC.)

Oh, in that case let me clarify.
Helena’s positive opinion of Zeus isn’t based on fact, rather her skewed perception of his actions (or inaction). Compared to how she was living on the run, living on Olympus is a huge step up–food, shelter, friends–and she has attributed all these positives to him.
Thus, her doubt of him (which she does have, just chooses to ignore) causes her guilt because she sees all the good things that are going on in her life (which, again, she’s misattributed to him) and feels guilt, in the same way that my own doubt of Catholic doctrine made me feel guilty when the church had only been a positive force in my life.

I hope that clears things up.

Those are gorgeous moodboards omgggg

could i ask you to do some for my Bearers?

Actually that was rather rude of me.
Tell us about your Bearers instead!

Wasn’t rude at all! I’d love to do one for Helena and others when time permits me. I just hope I do your characters justice. For now, if you have a pinterest account or somewhere you collect images/quotes/whatevers that remind you of your Bearer, send me a link. It helps to start somewhere!

As for myself, I’ve got two Bearers. Electra, an allure focused warrior, and Elias, a wit focused mage. I don’t have enough free time right now to go into huge detail but here are some important events that shaped who they are. Granted, all of it is subject to change if it conflicts with in-game events/lore.

Summary

Elias has killed four people, starting with Saxon. All of them were life and death, expect for the last. He killed them in revenge after they betrayed him. He didn’t feel guilty or numb like the previous times but instead felt powerful, satisfied, and in-control. Realising this he became disgusted with himself and begun to question if he hadn’t been killing out of necessity, but out of choice. He swore to never take another life, no matter the consequences. We’ll see if that promise holds out.

Electra, unlike Elias, chose not to kill Saxon. Even though she wasn’t directly responsible, she still felt immensely guilty that she wasn’t able to save him or the others that had died/disappeared because of her (Aelin ). Her guilt and sadness quickly turned into anger however and she swore to get revenge on those responsible. Even if that means making some, uh, morally questionable choices along the way.

I’m missing a LOT of details in between but there’s a small idea of who they are.

Ooooh, interesting. I haven’t thought to add more deaths into my Bearer’s backstories.
It wouldn’t fit in the backstories I have for Vesper and Helena, but maybe Alexander (after all, he’s already a gigantic asshole, what’s a couple of murders?).

And I assume you took inspiration from the Electra myth for your Bearer? At least in that righteous fury they both seem to share?

Yeah, that’s the spirit! More tragic backstories and casual murder!

That was entirely coincidental. I thought it would be a shame if I didn’t take full advantage of how you can make your Bearer a mini raging ball of fury. Also her anger isn’t entirely righteous, but that’s a whole other discussion.
As for the name, I originally took it from the Marvel character Elektra Natchios. Whilst researching I stumbled across the myth, thought it was very appropriate and decided to change the spelling to Electra.

Out of curiosity, were there any inspirations for Helena, Vesper or Alexander?

If we’re talking about dangerous Bearers then Aegon definitely belongs in this as some people already seen. Years on the run from the “filthy Hunters” as Aegon would call them has changed him for the worst. He has a scar across his eye as a reminder not to trust anybody (my head canon says Aegon got that scar from fighting off a pack of Hunters and survived). Killed Saxon because it was a kill or be killed situation to him and feeling the adrenaline rush from taking a life made him lust for more blood so any chance he gets, he will kill anyone just to feel that feeling again, it’s like ecstasy to him. He’s pretty muscular because he wants to look very intimidating to make sure that no one would think about getting close to him because let’s face it. If you get close to him, there’s a pretty damn good chance you’re going to die in front of him like Aelin. Aegon never truly got over her, and he’s angry with himself for not saving her life when she needed him the most. In the end, the only thing he values the most is death. Immortality or the fact that Aeson’s life is tied to his life means nothing to him if everything around him dies, so he wonders to himself every once in a while, “what death would be like?” He does not want to be around forever unlike the “selfish” gods seems to want. However, if you were very lucky to be on his good side like Hades and Athena, then he would gladly give his life just to save yours and he’d probably say “Don’t thank me, just live.”

My MC has no redeeming qualities at all. Details TBA.

On a different matter, I keep seeing references to pills, spears, guns, and the like as parental gifts. I don’t see them in the link on first post. Is there an update elsewhere that I’m missing?

If I remember right, you get them before or during the first trial so if you haven’t gotten to that part then yeah you missed the new content. Pills are from Zeus (pretty sure it’s just Viagra for demigods) Spears are obviously Posideon while the guns are from Hades.

Don’t quote me on that since I’m not 100% on that. However, it’s been mentioned before that the story will be rewritten so that part might be gone now since Posideon and Hades aren’t the options as a dad anymore.

My MC also has no redeeming qualities. Soren is just… bad.

I’ve been meaning to put together a moodboard for Soren but it’s been difficult finding stuff for him. Anyone else have any moodboards for their MCs? I love hearing about everyone’s bearer. :eyes:

I’m about to make one actually. Gimme like 30 mins or so to post it.

Edited: Ummmm… I’ll do that tomorrow morning. Since it’s now 3 AM and I should be going to bed shortly lol but I promise I’ll have mine up by then.

Insomnia got in the way again. So here’s my mood board as promised. And yes that’s supposed to be Zeus’ head.

Before, Hades as your parent gave a gun, Poeidon a trident, and Zeus a 9 hour erection pill for the first trial.

I wonder if the gift from Zeus will change.

Yo, so Aeson is the least possessive. Not surprised, bec I mean I wouldn’t be too if I knew that I would see the Bearer again and again in different life cycles lol. You literally are soulmates no matter what hahaha. you will never be rid of me Aeson Thantos

I am, however, a little surprised at Santi. Since it’s a huge struggle for him to admit his feelings, I would think that once he does he’d be possessive to some extent? Or maybe I’m just confusing this with jealousy.

you might be.
Some people can be guarded and not easily admit their feelings but that doesn’t mean they lack confidence in a relationship or feel like they need to control. Basically they can be as chill on the inside as they are on the outside.

I think a thing to keep in mind is everyone expresses their feelings and emotional states in different ways; it’s part of what makes watching these characters so interesting.

And just like any other emotion, people tend to express their jealousy in various ways. So while Santi isn’t particularly possessive or needy, it just means he’ll probably be expressing his jealousy in a different way (and being that low on the list doesn’t mean that he or the others won’t feel needy or possessive occasionally; it just means they’re less likely to get that way compared to some of the other characters the Bearer can bond with).

A little post-Valentine’s note from my MC. Please note that my MC’s views are not necessarily my own.

The Dagon Angelis Guide to Booty
(Author’s Note: I will not call myself ‘Pan Angelis.’ It sounds like a fucking pasta dish.)

Calypso: She’s pretty and somewhat realistic about her place in the world, and that is the sum total of her redeeming qualities. She seems to find me attractive, which can only mean that she has no standards.

Avery: Who?

Aelin: Not all that fond of her, but she was a sweet, loyal girl, if her last words are any indication. I could do worse, I guess.

Sage: This one I actually find interesting. She has a lot of highly crushable, completely unfounded self-confidence. And she hates me! It’s nice when you meet someone with common interests.

Santiago: I don’t like men, but if I did, I would still avert Santiago. His father was a satyr-skinning, pipe-playing creep with unquestionable skills. Santiago’s idea of following in his father’s footsteps is to be a slightly competent prick. His popularity is a sign that people will eat absolute shit if shown a pretty face.

Adonis: Even if I weren’t disgusted by his habit of screwing everything with a pulse, I’d hate him for his mother’s sake. Someday I’m going to bake him on his own forge.

Aeson: See the entry on Santiago. At least he’s polite.

…that line gave me flashbacks of this Dragon age 2 comic.

I do find it kinda sweet that Cally sees the Bearer as perfect (but holy crap, I can see some Bearers blushing hard if she ever verbally told them what she was thinking when she first met them). I kinda wanna see another short like that to get a feel of the other ROs’ inner reactions to the first meeting with the Bearer in the same way we got a glimpse of Calypso’s private reaction to them.
