Children of the Gods (Important poll #12306)

THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS HAS BEEN OPENED

Why yes! Quite a few in fact.

Helena

Helena is directly inspired by Anna from Frozen, at least in terms of personality and her desperation for familial connection and romantic love.
Visually I think I subconsciously took inspiration from Luke Skywalker (with the sun motif and the Chosen One-ness) as well as Emily Haines from Metric.

Fun fact: Helena is the name of a character I’ve had since middle school. And Helena as a name is derived from the MCR song.

Alexander

Alexander doesn’t actually have a direct inspiration personality wise. He’s kind of a terrifying mix of all my worst thoughts and impulses, in addition my penchant for hard-drinking, morally questionable, egotistical characters like Starling Archer, Rick Sanchez, and Bender.
Visually I directly based him off of James Franco’s portrayal of James Dean.

Fun fact: Alexander’s hair is actually supposed to look like a literal lick of flame. He’s also a virgin.

Vesper

Vesper hits a bit more close to home. She was orginally inspired by my struggles with depression but the more I’ve thought about her and developed her, the more she’s actually grown into her own character separate from my experiences, most importantly her newfound rampant hedonism which is giving her more to think and do than just be numb.

Fun fact: OC!Helena actually looks more like Vesper than Bearer!Helena. Vesper is actually an accomplished singer and performer and made her living performing with and writing songs for bands while in the run.

MC Bio:

Pan Dagon Angelis insists on going by his middle name, on the grounds that while both his names are the product of his mother’s poor life choices, at least ‘Dagon’ sounds vaguely impressive.

Growing up, Dagon appears to have been a listless, phlegmatic child with difficulty forming social connections. With family and friends (like Aelin) he was mildly affectionate, the way some people treat favorite dogs; their loss was unpleasant and inconvenient but manageable. (He was slightly fonder of Athena than anyone else, due mostly to gratitude for his upbringing.) Others, such as Lucy and Garrett, met with near-complete indifference.

During his escape from the Hunters, he killed Saxon in self-defense, although this was not his first murder (see below). He rather enjoyed his time outside Olympus, taking the opportunity to indulge in bouts of illegal activity. Approaching the Trials, he sees them–and any relationships with his classmates–as a chance for greater personal aggrandizement. At the end of the day, he is loyal to himself alone.

After the medical review, the Asclepians agreed that only Dagon’s divine blood was keeping him alive, as his diet seemed to consist of junk food, coffee, and unidentifiable pills. However, despite being noticeably overweight, he is extremely strong, and has focused on enhancing his strength at the expense of everything else. While Dagon is a somewhat above-average student, his achievements have more to do with spite-fueled tenacity than natural intelligence (a fact about which he is insecure).

By all accounts, he enjoys his divine strength immensely, and has put it to questionable use. Aside from the death of Seeker Cosse, a string of murders corresponds to Dagon’s time outside Olympus. Evidence suggests that he is motivated by an intense envy of those capable of forming social relationships. (This may account for his hostility towards Adonis Amour.)

Confession time, I’ve never actually seen Frozen beyond a few clips so I didn’t draw that comparison at all with Helena. If you don’t mind me asking, was it only the name you adapted from the previous character or did you build off their personality as well?

Oooooh. Now that you’ve mentioned it I can definitely see James Franco’s James Dean (Deanco?) in your artwork, minus the red hair of course. Looks much more alike than the person I had in mind.

I’m actually in love with the fact that Vesper spent her time being a travelling musician. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems that Vesper is the most emotionally closed off out of all your Bearers. With that said, would she ever perform for anyone in Olympus? Does she consider it an intimate act to do for another?

Also a question for anybody who wants to answer. Are there any songs you associate with characters from the game or your Bearers? I’ve been listening to a playlist while writing to generate some inspiration and I couldn’t help but wonder.

Oh ok

Same here. Nyx has a lot of pieces of me. Mainly my flaws, because I love my flaws. They make me who I am a lazy bum and I always put a piece of myself in my characters. Also I put some of my physical appearences in Nyx she’s a better-looking version of myself :upside_down_face:. My best features are my eyes and my very very long hair, and my lithe body figure. So whenever I make a character (doesn’t matter if it’s non-human or male) I always imagine them having my dark eyes, and flawless glossy black hair. Oh, and one thing. Their height. It doesn’t matter if the author themself describe my character head to toe, I will always imagine Nyx as a short little lady. Because i’m 155 cm tall and I have to use a chair everytime I want to take down the jar of cookies on the third shelf.

@Fay Would you like a booster seat?

If that was a joke about my height, then I will summon my army of midgets and climb into your room.

Although, that is if we can reach your windows.

You can climb on each others’ shoulders, like cheerleaders. It’ll be awesome.

Or if you wanted to hang out that badly, you could just use the front door.

Casually walks in

Someone call for me?

I could always throw one of the Tiny Army members to the window… Or break down the wall. I may not be tallest member in my family, but I’m the designated heavy lifter.

Where’s the fun in that?

Beware those who are below average height, for they make up for it in their willingness to utterly destroy you in everything you do!
Based not on my average height self, but two friends who are below 5 ft and can do any and everything better than I can.

I have the most lithe limbs in my family, because I took over my mother quite a lot. And my parents always tell me how graceful my limbs are but when i’m taking a group photo with my friends I look like

Relaterad bild

But my family is vietnamese. And the average height for vietnamese females are 152-155 cm. (155 cm is 5’1 in feet, right?)

Short Girls unite

ain’t that the truth. Kasia is short and lithe too! I guess we’re (me, you, Kasia, and Nyx??) the same in that aspect haha.

Besides height and build, Kasi and I share the same race and eye color. In terms of physical looks, she honestly just has way better hair and the helix ear piercing I’ve dreamed of getting lol.

I made sure she had a scar on her nose bridge though so she isn’t too perfect

Yup, that’s about 5’1”! I googled it bec my American mind doesn’t think in metric

I’m 15 and 168cm (5’6) but that’s quite tall for most Brazilian girls of my age, they are generally way shorter than me
Edit: I just remembered that was my height two years ago when I went to the doctor but I recently I discovered I’m actually 168cm tall, sorry)

@Fay

I’m as flexible as rock  but make up for it with a ridiculous amount of natural strength. I was giving my much larger, muscular grandfather piggyback rides for the fun of it when I was 8. And it baffles my family to no end because I’m the most laidback, quiet one of the family whose idea of fun involves curling with a good book, whipping out me drawing book, or playing video games.

Two of my Bearers (Mia and Rain) are the smallest out of all the other Bearers I’ve created, but they’re also the most physically balanced too (Mia is a Warrior while Rain is a Mage).

@Ritter

The next generation always seems to get taller and taller…

Ah, height runs in my family so I’m one of the shortest at 178.8cm (not even 6 foot!!). My 11yo brother is almost my height so I’m worried for the future. Accordingly, all my Bearers are at least statuesque

My main bearer, Mia, is just the idealised version of me in terms of looks while Elias is my little emo kid with amber eyes and daddy issues (more than Mia, anyway). I hope we can get partly shaved hair as an option at some point bc that’s what I imagine as edgy nowadays instead of layered hair. MCR memories come back

Let’s face it; every bearer has dady issues because everyone hates Zeus.
I wonder if the bearer could overthrow Zeus after they become a God.

Considering we have the option to work with Kronos, it’s not completely out of the question. Maybe we can make our friends the new gods! We have to keep a few of the original around though…maybe only the ones who were nice to us. Like Hades.

I like Hera. She’s perfectly honest about her intentions, she has a sympathetic backstory, and she knows how to hold a grudge.

I was never a fan of Hera, but I can understand why she’s acting like a bitch this. To be honest, she deserves better. She’s been loyal to Zeus, and what does she get in return? News that her husband turned into a swan to seduce a spartan queen? That he turned into a bull to kidnap a princess? Yeah. She may be a little bitchy passive aggressive but at least she got a reason for it, and she deserves better.

But she did throw her son off Olympus because he was ugly, and the funny part is that he became ugly because he defended Hera from Zeus. And in return, Zeus punished him. But Hera was like: ‘‘Nope, bye bye you unsightly thing’’.

There’s also the fact that if we kill Zeus (which most of us would like to do because he’s a total jerk), she’s likely to turn against us for revenge. Even if she doesn’t like him all that much, she’s loyal to him. Which also might cause problems with the other gods as well.

A great deal of us definitely hate Zeus (he’s become one of the characters that many love to hate). But depending on our own headcanons, our Bearers could found a sense a family stability during some of their moments on the run.

For Evander, he had a powerful natural draw that caused a good number of people to look after him. But the one who took the role of a fatherly figure was a leader who was descendent of Chiron, who took in the young Demigod for a while. In other words…Evander was raised by centaurs; it’s a wonder that he remained so vocally eloquent and calm while raised by a blunt and rambunctious herd members . But he loved them all and the leader taught Evander two important lessons: what it meant to be fearless and that heroes are never made (they just are). Evander would’ve stay if he could, but he had his own journey continue and he didn’t want to repay the herd’s kindness by putting them at risk of a attack from the Seekers.

Damon has two father figures in his life. One was Hades, and (now that he doesn’t have to deal with the added trauma of Hades being revealed as his father), Damon can take more pride in the fact that he’s more like the uncle who raised him for some time than he is like Zeus. The other father figure… was a dragon. And it shows a good deal in the way Damon moves and fights (something about him often comes off as a little beastly). The dragon taught a once meek Damon to face life head on and what makes family. Unfortunately, that same beast got injured by a Seeker attack when Damon froze at the worst time and the dragon had jumped in to protect his whelp. The dragon survived, but Damon felt great guilt for what his hesitation ended up causing and left to keep his ‘father’ safe and grow stronger.

In another version, she just flat out ignored Hephaestus’ existence after giving birth to him out of spite when she heard about another of Zeus’ affairs. The myths tended to vary on the Blacksmith God’s physical disability and how ugly he was (in some, he was simply described as rather plain looking, but that plainness was considered ugly by God standards).

But yeah, I’m none too keen of Hera due to treatment of Hephaestus (but he is one of my favorite gods, so that’s my biased talking) or the children born from Zeus’ affairs. But I do see why she is the way she is.

Well… For the most part. She did overthrow his rule one time and was in charge for a while..
