Children of the Gods (Important poll #12306)

This is sort of random, but I’m super curious about what Poseidon’s “human” name would be. Like, Hades is Henry and Athena is Alice, would Poseidon be Phillip? Daddy Phillip? @Rohie Will we ever know this, or is it just like not important at all?

Phillip is a name with Greek origins, I like it.

The first trial will be given to you by Artemis.

Yoooo Calypso must be sooo hype.

Text corrections:

There is a long, deep red velvet carpet before you, leading up to a giant set of thrones, both embezzled in gold. (emphasis mine)

I think the word you want there is “emblazoned.”

Your mother is a tall and lean, like most Spartan women, but slightly softer than lower-ranking women.

Drop the “a”.

“Whoever invented mascara wanted me to suffer,” she says, throwing the mirror onto her desk to hard you wonder if it cracked.

“to” should be switched to “so”.

But that was not all; you knew even more about the complexities of war than average war centered Spartan.

…than the average war-centered Spartan.

Somehow, the Queen convinced King Menelaus that your immediate presence around her was dire.

Dire is distinctly negative. (specifically: causing or involving great fear or suffering; dreadful; terrible: a dire calamity.) The context of the paragraph, at least in my play-through, indicated that I was the queen’s confidante and that we had a positive relationship.

“I’m not sure. The feeling seems to want to shatter my bones. I wish I knew what it is.”

“is” should be switched to “was”

The Trojan’s do want more than a surrender. They want a surrender that appeals to their ego’s.

The apostrophes should be removed from both words (The Trojans do want more than a surrender. They want a surrender that appeals to their egos.)

Achilles and Odysseus had predicted that the battle taking place inthe heart of Troy tomorrow would be one of the bloodier ones.

missing space between “in” and “the”.

There is a mass dried out trees to the west, not thick enough to conceal anyone but a few soldiers who could run scrimmage as a distraction.

Missing article in “There is a mass dried out”. Add an “of” for: “There is a mass of dried out”.

But the Hero seems to laugh when the arrow strikes his heel…but only for a second.

I’d probably drop the first “But”. It reads as a bit repetitive with the second one there. “The Hero seems to laugh when the arrow strikes his heel…but only for a second.”

The Hero’s scream your name.

The plural should be “Heroes”.

you ignore his answer.

The word “you” should be capitalized.

You feel an absence of warmth, and see the Athena is nowhere to be found.

“the” should be “that”

“Whoever invented mascara wanted me to suffer,” she says, throwing the mirror onto her desk to hard you wonder if it cracked.

“to” should be changed to “so”

"It as a gamble, mainly.

“as” should be “was”

"Each Goddess had something to promise the young prince–I believe he was only seventeen at the time, but many claims he was as old as twenty–

“claims” should be “claim”

Helen wasn’t an object." a boy with a shaved head protests.

The period after “object” should be changed to a comma.

“You’re pretty of average height for a Demigod, Angelis,” she had remarked.

Switch “of average” to “average of”. The other height adjectives may need a check, too.

The entire climb is long, the boys legs shaking as he makes the trek.

“boys” should be “boy’s”

When he reaches the top of the stage. he stood before the Gods.

Should be: “When he reached the top of the stage, he stood before the Gods.”

A woman is pale as white marble stands before the party.

“is” should either be switched to “as” or dropped completely.

Her gown in black lace, exposing her milky skin near the chest and arms.

A couple of things you could try here, but the simplest would be: “Her gown of black lace exposes her milky skin near the chest and arms.”

I’ve been trying to get hades for a long time please help me!!!

post 3450

I second the motion for Poseidon’s name to be Phillip, it very much suits him. :grinning: Maybe Hera’s name can be Heather.

Phillip just sounds so cute and dorky. Very Poseidon  And I may be bias since I have a sister named Heather, but I think that would suit Hera, if she ever actually needed or wanted to choose a separate name. High-five! I want to give all of them names like this now. It’s too fun.

I’m not asking when the next update will be because I know that’s against forum rules, but do you know how much the next update will include? As in would it be roughly a chapter or would it be closer to the last update in size?

I’m not rushing you, I’m just curious as to how you’re going about this.

Okay, a couple of things.

Why does the statue of Athena have her with Ares' animal, the dog?

When the phrase "dog of war" is used, they aren't referring to Athena.

What's with the binary option with the Trojan War? I don't care about

the Greeks versus the Trojans, they were just looking for an excuse to fight
anyway, what my MC wants is to get his friends Paris and Helen the hell out
of dodge until he can find a way to unfry their brains.

And while I really dislike the selection process for our divine parent, it

doesn’t help that it doesn’t make sense.

Zeus- god of lightning, how many people does lightning kill a year?

Poseidon- God of earthquakes and tsunamis, how many do those get every year?

Hades- God of the underworld, who pretty much doesn’t interact with the living unless someone tries to pull a Hercules or Orpheus, and his most famous weapon is a helmet of invisibility.

So two gods whose portfolios have killed more people than small pox, versus a hikikomori who doesn’t leave the underworld unless he’s cosplaying Harry Potter with the Cloak of Invisibility.

In the myths, even when Hades wanted someone dead, a doctor who “could cheat death,” he had
Zeus kill him, which suggests that Hades was unable or unwilling to kill himself.

So I have to say linking him with murder owes far more to the demonization of Hades, not the actual myths, and since he’s our beloved Uncle Henry it just really seems out of place.

No, I do understand. I’m just saying there are other ways of doing things. Take Scion, for instance. A godly child that was birthed by another God can become the “child” of another God and gain their abilities simply by having been claimed by them. It’s how gods like Artemis (who is supposed to be a virgin) still have scions according to the game.

And really, settle down a bit. There’s really no need for bold-faced caps lock in a cordial discussion.

Technically, the Olympian gods (Excluding Hades) would vote on death sentences. For instance if Apollo is to shoot a plague arrow at someone, they need a simple majority. Hades isn’t allowed to go around killing people, but he does have a sense of humour in the sense that he may or may not appear behind Apollo and yell, “BOO.” Right as he fired the arrow causing him to miss and hit the wrong city-state.

Hades also hated his job, let’s be real. If you were the god of the Underworld, you’d generally be a very cynical person and very very bitter. Especially when you were the eldest son and all.

Hestia was the firstborn out of the whole original Olympians.

Unless of course you pissed off Zeus or Poseidon, then they’d smite you. Zeus will strike you down with lightning and Poseidon will kill you with a tidal wave.

Oh, the caps were for remark a fact, not for shouting. And here in my opinion have zero sense for Athena steals us when everyone knows we are not from hers. Also a more powerful god wants take the role, and actually is the real father . She already is in a precarious situation , she has the aunt stuff to try to control us anyway

Each of my three MCs got a different father  (I swear I didn’t plan it).
I really want to see my MC, who is Poseidon’s daughter, not knowing if she should call him “dad” or use his name. And also see his reaction when she does call him “dad”. (I’m dying here just to imagine the scene )
I don’t think my other two MCs would call their fathers like that. Hades’ son wouldn’t really care about his dad, until he finds out it’s uncle Henry (but he is still a little mad at Hades so he doesn’t know how to react). And Zeus’ daughter is willing to give her father a chance, but she doesn’t expect much.

I start a lot of posts this way, but…well…It’s true.

I love this game.

The scene with the hunter on the roof. My gods! Yes I killed him, and my character’s reaction was perfect.

I think overall that’s what I like about this game. I feel like I could my MC to react the way I wanted to.

Oh I’d be totally remiss if I didn’t mention the stat page. Most of the time I never even look them, but this one is totally worth it. On second page of stats(I think it’s called personality) there are a few little lines that sort of translate your stats from math to English.

My three highest were wit, allure, and stress. There was a nice little line about what it meant to be that smart, in the game world, and what it meant to be that alluring. About the stress it said, “You’re hands shake.”

Phobe was already very well developed in my imagination, but that one little tidbit…It just made her real. She’s pretty. She’s witty, but if look close enough you can see her hands shake.

I can’t wait for more.

What level percentage of stress is “You’re hands shake”?

Mine is at 60% and says it. Getting it to 68% changes it to “You tend to worry over the smallest things”.
