Wrote about 500 words tonight. First character scene is about a third done.

Have some dialogue preview!
“Yep,” you affirm. “Definitely can’t have you knowing that I’m actually a vampire,” you joke.

Jayce gasps dramatically and puts a hand to his heart, feigning shock. “A vampire? You?” He takes a second to look you up and down. “Hm. Nope. I don’t see it.”
I’m trying to sleep. I’m thinking about these characters, fleshing them out. I go from personality to body-type and I’m thinking [character1] has a nice belly. Then I’m thinking how [character2] would be expected to have sweet abs or something cause he’s kind of full of himself but nah his body is really underwhelming. I sat on that for a second before my brain’s like…he has a dad body. And fuck if that wasn’t the funniest thing in the entire world to me at like 2 am when I’m trying to sleep.

Sorry for the lack of updates for so long! I am still working on this project and hope to have a demo consisting of the first chapter soon.

For that to happen, I have two more scenes to write, as I just finished one character scene tonight.

Currently, it’s at 20,142 words. This project is going to take longer than I thought it would due to some personal issues I’ve been having recently, but hopefully I’ll be getting back on track.

Okay, make that 20,713 words. I managed to knock out the shorter scene, which leaves one final scene that I’ll get started on tomorrow. Once that’s finished, that’ll be chapter one!

I’ll try to keep y’all updated the best I can

Good progress today! Fixed a few coding errors, added a little more detail to a previously written scene, and got a good start on the last scene for chapter one.

Current word count is 21,429 words.

I might work on it a bit more tonight but I’m going to take a bit of a break now. I’ll definitely work on it more tomorrow.

I also have to do some re-balancing for the stat checks but I might worry about that later so I can get the demo out sooner (I’m overeager for feedback).

First chapter is finished! Link to the demo is now included in the OP, but I’ll also include it at the bottom of this reply.

Keep in mind that, as stated earlier, it’s a bit wordy in the beginning. The word count for everything included is 21,955.

I very much enjoyed what there is so far. I’m always down for stories about agencies whose jobs are to police the lines between supernaturals and humans. The prologue gives a great idea as to the personality of the teammates, and I also liked that we had a choice to flavor our personality.

Two questions about the world: Do vampires age normally? Seeing as they are born, not made, obviously they age at least for a while, but does it ever slow down or stop?

If we play as a human (or vampire) is their a chance of us becoming something more, like another supernatural type?

Glad you enjoyed it!

To answer your questions: vampires do age normally because they’re more or less a mutated version of humans or have a common ancestor (something not yet established in world). They stay more “youthful” in appearance, but have a similar average lifespan to humans. I assume you read the information provided in the stats screen? I’m proud of that

And while I can say that the choices are limited to human and vampire and you don’t have the opportunity to really “become” any other type of supernatural creature, I can’t say much more than that regarding the MC because spoilers.

As far as other supernatural creatures in general go, I’m sure you probably got acquainted with Faith, who is going to be the only other main character that is a supernatural outside of vampires. There may be supernatural side characters in the future, but my hope is to keep my options open for future writing in this world. Because of this and the way that the AHS is set up with different factions, the story will stick primarily to vampires and humans.

I read the stat page info and enjoyed it, but I don’t remember seeing something specifically about vampires aging…but that could be because it’s 2 in the morning. Sounds good though, thanks for answering the questions! So there maybe something to the MC it sounds like…or maybe not? Looking forward to more either way.

I think keeping the main focus with vampires at first is a good idea, eases the reader into the world and lets them get well acquainted with one aspect of it, while Faith being there is a good reminder that there is more out there we just don’t know that much about as a reader yet, which is a good thing.

There wasn’t anything about age WRT vampires in that info; don’t worry, you didn’t miss it!

And there’s definitely more going on with MC, but I’m going to leave it at that :innocent:
