Aroderia - The story of White Raven (WIP)

Head Hunter (you can see where that idea came from lol)
Ranger
Information Broker
Also, can we have a weapon of choice? Or a style of choice?
Like Nightmare Blade style or Nightmare Hunter and so on?

Ranger doesn’t fit very well to the profile of main hero. I will consider the other two.

You will have the option to choose your favorite weapon (I have it already coded, don’t know why I haven’t included it already lol). Weapons to choose currently are: one-handed sword, two-handed sword, dagger, bow, crossbow.

HELP WANTED
**************

I need help with writing side-quests, game is becoming more complex than I originally thought and it would be ages for me to complete it alone.

So, if there’s someone who would be willing to help with side-quests, corrections, etc. I would be forever in your debt.

Write here or PM me.

You know that you have my help

Great demo! And can I make a suggestion about what your abilities are? If you ever get them, I mean. But if you ever get your abilities, could you add chances of what you have? Like air, the second rarest to get might be 1/50 of a chance, with the *rand command?

On a side note, I might be able to help.

@Happy That’s an interesting idea! I still haven’t made my mind whether I should give player another “gift”. I’ve been thinking about making some kind of a poll in which the players will choose if they want it or not. If I give the main hero another ability, I will probably do it like you suggested, I really like your idea.

I will PM you about that help

It could even be a gift given by contract…

@Headhunter180 What do you mean by contract?

A contract with one o the five or a forbidden magic “contract” and such…

@Headhunter180 ah, I understand now. I will be thinking about it

Some new info:

  • game will be probably divided into 3 parts (each part 10 chapters) -if I’ll succeed and get it hosted, first part will be for free
  • there will be 3 or 4 side-quests in every location, you can skip them completely, but your story will be quite shorter
  • first illustrations coming out soon
  • gender option coming
  • favorite weapon option coming

A pact with a devil… I really prefer dont have another power but i think im a minory in that.Maybe character could choose adquire another hability losing something or only have his power i dont like magic in games i never knew why…
But if there are poison powers…,

I’m not a big fan of magic myself (I like more Tolkien’s style of magic)…that’s also why I’ve made the gifts so rare.

The game is not loading.

It works fine to me, do you have JS allowed?

Sorry for being a bit Off-Topic here but, I agree I don’t like Magic much. I just prefer that Imaginary creatures, such as Fairies, Pegasus’ and Dragons could be real. Though, I’d always think Magic combined with Technology would be Interesting. For example, A Magic infused-Steel Sword.
That attack better than the average steel sword and can repair itself if it ever gets scratched or the blade breaks.

I don’t mind this kind of OT, it helps me to understand players and their opinions better. It’s not OT like it was that with female vs male fights, that was pointless here.

All of the “gifts” I have in game have a physical explanation, so that philosopher I mentioned in demo is right. That’s why it isn’t very typical kind of magic.

I think you should make it another weird power.

@DrDerpyPoodle what do you mean exactly? I didn’t really understand what you were trying to say.

Project is not death. I just currently don’t have much time for writing. However, some minor update should be coming out soon.

Regarding the Prologue:
I think there should be more choices in it.
While I personally don’t mind a long streak without choices, I think it is important to consider the Prologue as the first impression of the game. I assume it’s purpose is to entice the player to stick with the game and play it to the end, and a couple times after that (if the replay value is high enough).

Now, while it is alright for people like me who are in it for the story, they are likely to stay on since it has potential for a good intro, once it’s polished up.
For the people who are more interested in the interactive part though, I think the prologue gives off the wrong first impression of being a relatively straightforward story without much choices. More choices would probably help to keep those players on at least for the first chapter.

… Rereading the post, I feel like I should add a disclaimer that I am in no way affiliated with an Interactive Fiction Company and have no practical knowledge of the market aside from my personal impressions

@Nasdaxow yeah…that’s something I was worried about from the beginning. Mostly after I added that mythology stuff (it wasn’t supposed to be there but other people convinced me). I will definitely try to work on the prologue more but not right know. Firstly I will introduce some of the game mechanics by adding first quest to demo. After that I’ll be writing female part of the prologue and first quest which can be the moment for rewriting the prologue to a more choice version like you suggested.
