As you can probably tell, I am “new” to Choicescript. I am a young, aspiring author, and I am looking for a way to polish and round my skills. Not only that, but I think that making a game on Choicescript would be exciting and full of new experiences for me to learn.
Unfortunately, there is this one problem.
I have already downloaded the file off of “github” or whatever it’s called. I put the file on my desktop, and then zipped the file.
I was wondering if some kind soul could help me through this, because I am utterly clueless.^^"
yes notepad++ lets you write the game, dropbox will let you host it so people can play it.
You need to enable the public folder in dropbox. let me just find the link. Give me a minute
edit:
okay once you’ve registered with Dropbox click this link
that should enable the public folder. Once you’ve done that you should be able to open dropbox on your computer. Then you should move the choicescript folder to the public folder in dropbox.
Once you’ve done that you can access the files on any computer with an internet connection.
Hopefully someone else will be able to continue the help, if not I’ll try and leave some more steps for you tomorrow. You can check the earlier links for additional help.
I found @CS_Closet’s tutorial extremely valuable when I first started trying to figure out choicescript. I think it’s a little outdated now, since you don’t need to access the mygame.js file anymore you can just do things from startup.txt. Otherwise it may still be useful.
