Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven -- set for release 10/28/16

Maybe but with all zombies running around, I don’t think it’s too bad.

How do you figure? Zombies may be undead cannibals, but at least they don’t eat themselves. This is very serious business. Mm hm.

Well wasn’t Jill only almost a sandwich?

I really enjoyed Zombie Exodus. I had a go with Safe Haven, I am loving the stats and the different ways of character development in contrast to Zombie Exodus. Must be a bad label or something but chapter one appeared twice on the same page for me. Also I chose suburban home, homemaker, ignore zombie till it wanders after a car… anyway I think it was a page later but it tells me the zombie in my basement stopped making scratching noises. Not sure if thats also supposed to be there or not. I really enjoy your writing style. Keep up the good work

@JimD how is the progress in this game?

You know, today I was REALLY bored and didn’t know what to do and then I just though"hey,I’ll read 1450 comments in the ZE:SH forum"It took me 3 hours and I’m not done yet (i’m such a slow reader). But as I was reading I understood just how MUCH work it took you to put all those career paths together, and after trying choicescript myself I did like,2 different paths and it took me 1-2 hours to get it done. So,how do you do it?I mean how do you write the story?Do you write the story in a notebook first or something and then code it,or do you figure the game as you write or code, since I have no idea which way to go.

Anyway,on the game.Where do we get to spend our remaining skill points? Is it after every chapter is finished or while the game develops? Also,as a teenager, when we return home and decide to call the Milfords and they ask for help, will we be able to try to save them later? And how many endings do you expect you’ll have to write?(IF there are more than 1 ending.)

Also, since I can’t ask when a game’ll be released, are you somewhere close to get it done?(that should be acceptable at least),or maybe the question should be how many chapters are done,(you don’t really want to answer, that’s still okay.)

@Silverstone thanks for your comments. I will fix those bugs and hope to release an updated chapter 1 soon which will fix those pesky zombie sounds from the basement

@Drini7 Progress is slow and steady. I hope to finish chapter 2 by the end of March.

For all things I write, I take quick notes and outline the story and then build as I go. I don’t plan too much aside from characters.

Starting with chapter 2, you can spend skill points. I have a system worked out.

Yes, you will be able to help the Milfords (or try to), but that only exists for teenagers.

I expect dozens of endings, since there will be many paths.

I am about 10% finished with the game, so I expect to release it next year. I am taking my time to add in all I want.

@JimD, line 124: bad label makechoice

Hm, if it’s possible to save the Milfords it might be interesting to be able to coincidentally run across them in other non-teenager playthroughs. That way you could add a bit more content to all the paths, and it’d be interesting to try to take care of a teenager or two in the zombie apocalypse.

@Shoelip just about all NPCs will be encountered independently of profession. For example, you will meet Reilly, the bank robber, but not until much later. You will have no chance to meet him in the early game, since you don’t know him. Also, there are 2 NPCs in each starting location, but you will meet all six eventually.

@122B I just reloaded a new version so please refresh your browser

Oooh, more brain candy!

What? It’s like candy for the brain, this game.

:smirk:

“Starting location” What’s that? Like, each prologue? Or some place you’ll choose to go to after you leave your house?

I think he means whether you choose to start in the City, Suburbs or Country

The first choice of where you live (Big City, Suburbs, or Country).

That decision has effects on NPCs and places you can go starting in Chapter 2.

For some reason you can infinitely help Sean restore his house or whatever the choice is. This also causes an infinite time counter.

The game is going great so far, love the variety of choices and the encounter with the Blind but not blind just pretending to be blind person. Also, you can do the ‘go on the roof to get supplies’ option around 2-3 times, did you mean for that to happen?

@JimD Hey buddy, I know I told you about the zombies in the basement before… I tried out being the teenager this time out in the country, ignored the zombie outside, still got those pesky zombies in my basement. Also I think there seems to be some repeated text as shown in the above screen shots. Hope this helps with your game coding progress. Appreciate the hard work your doing! Keep it up

Not sure if anyone has spotted/pointed it out yet, but the text for Danger: Threat Zone for the Movie Star path has a slight coding error, at the end it has {/i] (which makes it show up in-game), it should be [/i].

Will Billie be a reocurring character, and if so will she be a RO interest.

Ps. Sorry if you already answered this

i tried making my own profession (BSAA ala resident evil) and chose it as an army/special forces type of profession… fast forward to the talk with the girl and the blind(?) man and they ask my job and i tell them im with the infantry… i know this is a minor thing and i can overlook it if i wanted to, but if there’s a chance you can change this into a vaguer response like “im in/was in the military” or something like that, it would make the immersion of the custom profession that much better… Godspeed…
