Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven: Part Four Discussion Thread

Hey there,
I understand that some entries in this franchise have connected storylines but can also stand on their own. What would be the best play order? Are there any that I can or should play before the others?

There’s the original zombie Exodus and there’s this one. I recommend playing the initial but it’s not like you’ll miss anything huge if you just play the new one, there’s a few references from the first game that’ll come up and that’s about it

Hey so i don’t know if this is a bug or not haven’t played the game in a long while but is Tommy not supposed to appear on the survivor list on the hill battle with the zombies or camp even though he is on the group and i convinced him to stay and fight?

You can just ignore the cat and it should be fine. I always help Nora, save Tommy and then snipe the infected. Dogs have to be helped up the hill or they will die. Cats are true survivors. That said, update 4 seems to have caused a lot of bugs in the previous parts, so it’s also possible that your cat was killed because of a bug.

If you have the largest possible group and you organize them well during the attack segment, you can essentially skate through that entire hill section without doing anything and you’ll be fine

Hello can someone help with Maddison romance. How old is she in chapter 4? Is she romancible for college age MC or older?

Hi, i don’t know if anyone else is having this problem because everyone else seems to be progressing through the storyline and i haven’t seen this brought up, but i play using the app on Android/Playstore, and since the update whenever i start a new save it just ends after part 1, like it takes me to the “play again” selection. The story seems to pick up just fine when i skip to the other parts but if i start from the beginning it won’t continue. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but no luck. Not sure how else to go about it

Just started a new game as well and I can confirm the portraits are missing for me as well - I’m trying to keep one eye on the game code on a different monitor and so far it seems include_portraits is missing conditioning, at least in the earlier scenes? Or I’m blind, I didn’t have the time to go through every scene yet and I’m yet to meet Jaime at school - but I remember Tommy was supposed to have a portrait in the Makarov scene in chapter 1.

I already purchased Part Four and I have every other part on Steam including all DLCs. I’ll try to update this post as I go (and man, I’m so excited! When I woke up yesterday and found out a new part has been released, it felt like a Christmas gift that got lost on its way a little. Congratulations on the release, Mr. Jim! :sparkling_heart:)

EDIT: There have been no signs of portraits for Dante, Lopez, Jillian or Rachel as I’ve encountered them for the first time. The four of them didn’t have if include_portraits either, the only one I’ve noticed were for Tommy, Gina and Woody so far (and they were not displayed either).

I finished part 1 last night and 0 portraits showed up in my game, so yeah, this is definitely a bug. Though I remember that whenever I was starting a new character, the game would ask if I want to see portraits during the game or not. Now the game doesn’t ask at all and yeah, portraits are missing, even in reference page.

I don’t know if this is a bug or it’s just asking for a tons of defense points, but my Dante keep on dying after visiting the Dogs/Casey, this is with me already building 2 watch towers, electric fences, barbed wire, etc and I have try to even reinforce more but I have no more stuffs to build, so I don’t know how to move past this ( I’m trying to play a perfect route where no one die unless it’s scripted so I’m just wondering). Do I need to like put everyone on watch duty or sthing T0T. My defense point is like 18-20? which I think is pretty high but the game keep saying that my defense is poor. Also I believe I have use my old save file to get past the part of Gina dying in part 3, since for some reason in my new run this time, Gina always die despite my defense and offense being the same as past playthrough

I’m having a problem assigning people to the watchtower set up on part 3.

Could someone explain to me the inconsistency with the amount of items I can scavenge? It seems very random at times. Sometimes the game lets me take 12 items, sometimes only 6 and the amount of athletics and strength doesn’t seem to do anything.

I compared it between two characters with the exact same stats and… it was still random in the same story moments.

So my question is - how does it work?

Bug in chapter 14. After visiting the Pawn store at the mall, I got the delusion scene below. I then got the same delusion scene at Garcia’s Garage.

The highlighted text repeats after every gift given.

Found in chapter 15, when going to meet the River Dogs.

Looks like there is a coding error in the bolded text.

It’s based off strength/scavenging, and whether you have a duffel bag. Maximum amount 17 for most checks, but sometimes you’re in a resource rich environment, or have the ability to make multiple trips. There’s a guide on steam that lays out most everything.

She’s still 17 in part 4, there’s rumors that she will become romanceable by college student in part 4 or maybe 5, but it would be kind of questionable for MCs from other paths to romance Maddy, as many would be people in their 30s due to education/training times for some fields. I dig it though, my teen is my main MC, because Maddy is my favorite RO.

So I just had a bug in part 4 where the makarovs are killed by the Wendigo, Tommy appears for me and Jamie to give him a pep talk and he isn’t part of my group, last time I saw him was at the silverthornes camp

Also had an error earlier where Jude had shown up later after I had killed him but cant remember what point that was

There’s a bug in chapter 14 that tanks your camp defense rating. My defense rating upon loading a save from the end of part 3 was 43. It shows as such all during the Ute reservation scene and following missions (vet clinic, campground, strip mall) but as soon as you arrive at part 4’s first camp menu, the defense rating becomes 11 (offense rating was also dropped). Because of this you have use assignments to bum rush every possible remaining defense upgrade you can (in my case it was barbed wire, electric fence, sandbags, and security cameras) during this time to avoid a NPC death (Dante in my case) during the armed survivor defense blurb in chapter 15 but it doesn’t raise it high enough to prevent an injury (Allison shot in the hand).

I feel this may be the incident point of a few other possible bugs. The perimeter alarm shows as a selectable but not assignable upgrade even if built. The security camera upgrade remains selectable and assignable after it is built. The minefield can’t be build even if you have more than 5 landmines. Morale tanks hard in following camp scenes to the point it is literally cut in half during the post camp scene report in chapter 15.

Hello @JimD , I believe I have encountered a bug when trading with the River Dogs. Adding certain items such as spectrophotometer or the ultrasound will not put them in the listed items you are purchasing and do not appear in your inventory after completing the trade as well as not being usable in the following chapter. Other items such as the water collector does appear in both the trade and in the inventory and is usable for the following chapter.

I tried to do new playthough to change some decisions I’ve been made on a old playthough but the game not letting me build the watchtower even when it’s a option
