Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven General Discussion (Part 3 beta coming in December)

Why does the negotiation part matter ? His first reaction upon seeing us is to shoot us and possibly wound one of our members. He still tried to murder us immediately after spotting us. How does responding to a request of ceasefire that we have to initiate after he tries to kill us, prove that he’s sane ? When he’s been gunning people down simply because they didn’t know he claimed a grocery store.

What proof is that ? you’ve only been presenting a possible outcome that the player can have and building a scenario/ hypothesis on how you’d like to recruit Jude or interact with him in the future. We haven’t been given actual information from the author that flat out says “Jude isn’t insane” meaning what you say doesn’t mean it’s actually considered canon.

Of course he’s going to blame the leader of the group. They’re the one who is responsible for everyone’s welfare. If you did something that jeopardized Nora’s safety it’s only natural he would blame you for his mom’s death. Having a reaction like that is natural it doesn’t make him unstable. Also him being a wildcard is dependent on your relationship with him. If you don’t do anything to improve your relationship with him the more rebellious/defiant he’ll be when you trying to get him to do something.

Ok good for him. Not everyone’s going to notice that or pay attention to that. Which is obvious since Kent and the family still went to the store and were being shot at shortly afterwards just because 1 or 2 people can notice a certain thing doesn’t mean you should start assuming everyone should have seen that.

We’re not at that point in the apocalypse where survivors are hyper-aware of their surroundings and can recognize things like body positioning and blood splatter. It’s been a week since the apocalypse started, the majority of people have a civilian mindset. It’s not realistic or fair to expect them to become experienced, hyper-aware zombie killing survivalists in a week.

Sincerely, People, this discussion has become circular. All we are doing is reciting the same points over and over. Each one has is canon, and that’s cool. Why won’t move the discussion to something that could be used for @JimD to give him ideas?

For instance, If you could make officers in your group Who wouD you make you officers?

Hmm, if my MC is leader then I’d make Rachel my second in command since she is the most capable and most realistically thinking one in the bunch. For quartermaster I’m torn wether Parker or Nora is the better choice, Parker bc he might be better at keeping track of what we have (and boose wouldn’t go mysteriously missing), but the pros of Nora would be that she is no pushover despite her age.
As for more officers, do we need them? Given the relatively small size of our group.

I choose Nora not only for I like her more and Parker could make a more physically demanding job. Is because she was surrounded by thieves and all that. So if someone is stealing she would notice early. Parker is organized but too naive

I’ve given you lots of proof and still need confirmation from the author, stop stretching it, it’s gonna be stupid reading this guy is bad, this guy is insane, this guy is the hero etc. of course other words are used lol

Also, putting signs to tell there’s someone that they are now occupying that place is not realistic.

Good that’s fair, haven’t read your post before typing the top part lol, nice catch btw

On the 3 choices, skill-wise to organize everything I always go with Parker, Kelly is out of the picture and I pick Nora for the firm arm, she would definitely handle the situation herself and no one is getting past her if someone tries to steal or tries to negotiate extra items.

On chefs, though, I sure hope they put an option to talk to Jaime if MC wants to cook himself like when Reilly asked to cook and there is an option to inform Jaime of it. Jaime sulks and gets upset, even getting picked on by Rosie and Edgar in a funny way

Honestly I wish I could reduce Jaime’s importance in the group, but as things are now: with him doing already far more work than some other survivors. I think it’d be better either for MC to take the chef’s hat (if MC isn’t the leader and doesn’t have level 0 or 1 cooking skill, wouldn’t want to accidentaly food poison someone) or give the job to Reilly since he volunters for the job and he also has some skills for it.

I don’t know if I’d make her an officer but, I would probably put Rachel in charge of reconnaissance. Especially as it relates to gathering intel on other groups.

Woody & Gina are the best crafters/builders we have so I’d put them in charge of construction and camp maintenance. Woody’s survival skills could be used to gather fish.

Lopez I’d put in charge of security and possibly gun training yeah he can be a goofball at times but, I don’t doubt he’d take his job serious and would ensure that people are both safe and competent in the use of firearms.

I don’t know what I could have Rosie and Tommy be in charge of. Besides acting as group cook I know I want Reilly to help me eradicate any living threats to the group maybe I could have Tommy & Rosie help me with that as well. In my warlord playthrough Rosie’s experience as a raider will be invaluable so she has that going for her also.

The only useful thing Church has done is bring me a zombie to use as a weapon against hostile people. Other than his possibly average crafting skill, I can’t think of a use for him then again I really don’t like him and he’s basically cannon fodder in my eyes.

Parker’s organizational skills make him the best suited to keep track of inventory. If I could I’d have him and Nora tag-team the role of Quartermaster.

Jamie could probably cook food for the group with Reilly as well.(Hoping for a chance to kill him in my bandit playthrough though.)

As for poor sweet foolish Kelly, since she likes to pick up flowers so much, I guess she could forage ? I don’t know, my feelings about Kelly are a damn mess on one hand I want her to become a great survivalist but on the other I’m worried she’s going to get us all killed and I’m sick of her.

Maddison & Brody I’d put in charge of hunting. True Maddison is better at hunting than her brother but I think she should still have someone watch her back and aid her.

Maybe have Church continue the work of a pastor.
In a little corner of the camp, while making sure it doesn’t turn into a cult.

I don’t know if I’d trust him not to do something shady in the corner of a camp. He already started doing pastor work in the update of part 2, you have the option to talk to him about you’re feelings about the apocalypse. Not to mention Parker talks to him about his feelings. So, I guess he does have that going for him but I still feel like he should do more than that even if it’s just scavenging or watch duty.

I think a pastor could be useful to keep people from giving in to despair. Tho I’m not sure about this one, his reasoning of why he keept Zombie Joe was all wrong, I wouldn’t trust someone like him to be the moral support for the group. So I agree with you we would have to find other things for him to do.

I don’t trust Church because he has a plot with Jaime going on. Jaime went with him in secret and had a very suspicious chat.
He is also lazy as hell, and very annoying. To point if you are a leader and had no rest and even go, guard, all night if you Dare play video games ONE HOUR he called you selfish and whatever.

Says the man who doesn’t do shit at all.

I usually make Nora quartiermaster. She is tough and would notice theft. And I do like her a lot. With my bank robber mc I would make Reilly my officer since He then is totally on your side. With my other chars, since I am mostly nice I would choose Jaime and Lopez, since both are very loyal. I do not like Rachel that much, so I would choose her only to manipulate her, as she thinks she does with me.

I have been considering streaming on Twitch or YouTube for a while and would like to know everyone’s thoughts. Please take this poll on what you’d like to see.

Who would I make officers? Good question.

Most MCs I make end up leaders (I wasn’t even trying and had 0 leadership in my doctor playthrough [and he still got elected!:astonished:], while my military commander MCs are built as born leaders) unless I explicitly click the option to refuse leadership.

Lieutenants–Jaime and Rachel. I personally favor Rachel’s leadership style, but Jaime is the popular guy. I hope that after Rachel’s confession, they can work together and become (more) capable co-lieutenants to MC (and co-leaders while MC is away on a mission).

Cook–Reilly. He seems like the best chef, and giving him an important job (that he specifically requested) would make him feel more tied to the group.

Quartermaster–Parker. He seems most organized (he worked as a curator prior to the Zeta outbreak). Nora is also a good option (I have done some playthroughs with her as the quartermaster).

Doctor (even though this is not assigned in-game yet, I feel that someone should be filling the position in part 3)–Either Woody or Parker (most likely Woody, as Parker is already QM). They have the high Science skill needed to boost their medical skills, and Woody is mentioned to have practical medical knowledge. I’d also like the option to (try to) boost everyone’s Medical skill to at least Level 1.

I really think he should take a bath before he could become our groups doctor tho, wouldn’t want a wound infected just bc he goes closer than 3 meters to his patient.
Joking aside, I’d prefer if we could recruit an actual doctor (honestly I still wonder what the hell people in our group were thinking when they sent our previous doctor on scavanging/scouting mission) and Woody could do what he is already good at: crafting. While Gina is awesome, she alone can’t build everything in what we need to build our “safehaven”, especially bc I think she might be one of the most diversely usable people in our group.

Personally I’m sort of doubtful of Parker having the steady nerves to perform surgery on someone especially since that puts a lot of pressure on him to keep a person alive and could cause him to feel a lot if guilt if someone died mid-operation. If he weren’t such a nervous fellow when we met him. I’d be more confident in him not being consumed by the pressure to ensure people are being healed properly and making a mistake that could cost someone their life. I agree with your logic and reasoning, it’s just Parker’s nervousness and insecurity that makes me worry that he couldn’t handle the pressure as of this moment.

I think Jim said in a newsletter that we could meet a medical doctor or nurse or similar. Woody is too nasty to do something clean. And parker is diabetic is not safe be doc without the insulin

You’re correct, he did say a couple of times, that we could meet a medical professional in part 3. On a side note you’re feelings of hated and disgust towards Woody are hilarious, I’m pretty sure you genuinely don’t like him and are being serious about him but the way you write your comments about him just make me laugh.

I as a player out of the game, Doesn’t care for the guy that is genuinely goofy, and a great comic relief.
It is my main character Mara, who despises him. And I consider myself that very amusing, reason woody is alive in my main walkthrough.

Then on one special day Woody decides to clean up and shave so he wouldn’t look like a caveman anymore and upon seeing the handsomeness what was hidden before Mara can’t help but fall for him. Jk
Tho I agree with @CreoleGuy519 it’s funny to read your posts.

As for my opinion on the character: I’m fine with having a comic relief type character around, it’s nice when some people are able to keep their humor sense even in bad situations. Just please, let the guy take a bath and stop constantly describing his not so appealing smell.
