But who would we replace Janus with? If we’re going stats wise then I guess it would have to be someone intelligence based? Like Zhuge Liang or something? Don’t want him or them in there though since it have to be someone where it could make sense somewhat for them to live this long. Arthur was able to be modified in a good way cause of the existence of Excalibur.
If it has to be someone Roman, what about Nero Claudius like in the Fate/Extra series?
Could go with Minerva, Goddess of Wisdom and knowledge, and battle strategy. Basically the roman equivalent of Athena
And there would be another female? No :v
Ishtar is the only origin who is strictly female. Same as Arthur is the only male origin. The rest are gender selectable. Minerva would probably only be a problem if she was female only like with Ishtar. Though with Ishtar’s background it makes sense since she’s close to Gilgamesh.
I think this is one of the most important ones right here.
If Janus just can’t fit and the power-theme doesn’t work, Janus can be replaced or simply dropped. New Fables can always be added later with DLC and the like, don’t limit yourself too early on.
If the author ever does decide to add more characters one myth i would like too see is Anansi.
I think Janus should be replaced with another Roman god who doesn’t have a Greek counterpart since Janus himself was an original Roman god.
Another trickster god like Anansi or maybe Coyote would be cool.
I’ve never really seen Janus as OP I’ve always just thought of him/her as similar to Dr. Strange in Infinity War. The ability to see multiple futures, but still requiring sacrifices to reach an acceptable outcome.
Just because Janus sees it coming doesn’t necessarily mean Janus would stop it from happening.
Head cannon:
Car ride after the fight.
Yuro: Sorry, I failed
Janus: You didn’t fail you did exactly what I knew you would do. Oh, sorry Kaizo, if your injuries could have been avoided I would have tried for that outcome, but any future that you didn’t fight didn’t give me enough time to deal with the Dawn and Cloud Praetors.
Kaizo & Yuro:
While I’m not going to ask to change a Fable completely, if there was a change my only wish would be that it’s from a different culture that hasn’t appeared already.
If I had to choose someone to replace Janus and still fill a similar position it would be Odin. He has enough stories to give a variety of choices for what his ability and weakness would be, while also as a seeker of Wisdom and Knowledge he would be a fitting replacement.
No matter my preferences for who is used, the author’s done really well so far and I hope whatever decision they come to is one they’re satisfied with.
If the Author would decide to switch Janus which is highly unlikely the candidates for the replacement would probably be the Fable’s the Author was already thinking about adding like the ones in the poll
From what i understand Janus suffers from hallucinations after using their power repeatedly, so couldn’t they trick themselves by thinking the future where they see Yoro taken hostage as a potential hallucination rather than an actual event that is happening/could happen. Plus from the description of the power it sounds like they would have to focus on a situation/individual to be able to see the future pertaining to such. Which during a fight with two individuals attacking from different sides would invariably take much of the attention away from Yoro/Kaizo, and would make them unable to focus enough to see the future going on with them.
Pretty sure no one knows about that ability of ours apart the other immortals that are still around since the people we were forced to tell were destroyed near the start of game. It’s probably better that way to be honest.
But then our MC would be doomed to die because of the whole Ragnarok prophecy where we get eaten by Fenrir. I think it should be either Fenrir or Loki. At least as Fenrir, we can start the story where after our origin story, we break out of the chains but some of the shackles are still on us (like the Fenrir from Smite) that can serve as some limiter like with Wukong’s circlet. The only problem would be how to unleash our full power at some point whether permanently or temporarily.
I mean Arthur should have died in the Battle of Camlann and yet here he is, so I don’t think Ragnarok would be that much of a problem.
Author makes changes to the lore as they see fit since it’s their version of the Fables. Odin serves as a good position for an Intelligence based Fable, but with enough stories to give an outline of his capabilities and weaknesses.
Fenrir would be a good source of his weakness, but he doesn’t have to die because of him in this story. I think he liked to disguise himself as a human sometimes, so it’s not out of character to fake his own death. Odin also had a habit of doing some far out stuff for his goal of wisdom and knowledge (sacrificing an eye, hanging himself from a branch).
I will agree that as a lover of mythological monsters and destruction I would love any place I could play Fenrir.
janus could just be very focused on the current battle predictions and when they predict the haley part, it would be too late or something like that
I tried to say that before but other people rejected it. Guess people forget that even Janus can’t change fate sometimes cos of a things like that
Kinda like Rat from Zodiac war
Hermes/Mercury could be a good substitute. Int and speed would be the main stats. Hermes is mainly known for being the gods messenger and his winged shoes, but was a very crafty character. His first day out the womb he swindled Apollo out of some cows if I remember correctly.
