@jeantown is still quietly around and still committed to finishing when life is less of a struggle. So count the Guenevere project as dormant, not dead.
Any news on Star Crystal Warriors? I saw it on the Upcoming thread
Sword of Rhivenia
I don’t remember its name. But I miss my wereopossum trash mage. I also miss the cyberpunk/fantasy game where you could choose too be a mage, or shaman, or a couple other things
But it released?
Did the author cancel the sequel?
Sword of Rhivenia 2 seems abandoned imo
But the demo for Book 2 came out recently???
Yea but the author has not made any updates at all for moths. Including patreon.
he’s currently rewriting book 2
still alive
If true it would be nice if they told the patrons about it
Just because it comes out doesn’t mean it’s actively being worked on.
I can make a WIP now and then don’t update it for months, tell no one about it then it’s pretty much abandoned.
if it’s not updated at least monthly, don’t get your hopes High.
Expecting a monthly update for something it’s a hobby for most people is incredibly unrealistic. Also you don’t know what happens behind the scenes and aren’t entitled to know it either.
Do you mean SoR? If so, the last update to the Patreon demo (and Patreon update in general) was over a year ago, not particularly recent.
Unfortunately you’re right. Most people making HGs are doing it as a hobby, a few as a side job. It’s why something that could probably be done within a few months to a year depending on the size and writer speed often spans out into far longer as working regular jobs has to take priority and then anything over the top of that (extra shifts/study, illness, being away, other personal stuff, even writer’s block) can throw that planned schedule out the window even though the writer doesn’t mean for it to happen. If the authors are still popping up on the forum or posting things to their tumblr etc. chances are it’s still being/planned to continue to be worked on unless they say it is not even without monthly updates, but it may be slow to come out so have to decide if that’s something you’re ok with (no readers are bound to continue to follow a slowly updating story either and can wait to see if it gets finished.) Having monthly updates isn’t a sure sign either. Some authors because of the above reasons have periods of high and low activity so may be updating monthly, disappear for a bit, then reappear.
I’m also guilty of the no update while continuing to work on things. Often happens if I’m doing a big re-edit or stat adjustments and don’t want to release any updates while it’s potentially buggy or things are going to be changed which will mess with players who have later saves, or when I don’t have a lot of time and don’t want to bother people with little updates of partial chapters or can’t monitor and respond on the game thread. I do agree that it probably is nice for authors to advise if the game is likely to be on haitus for a while (although authors are human too and sometimes an unplanned delay can get away from them without them realising the time passed.)

So it cant ever actually be brought back from the dead, since it wasnt given up on. So much as their was a really unfortunate accident that got all the work they did erased. But it was The Fifth Horseman.

Dont know if its dead, but the sequel to Demon Recollect.
A lot of people on the forums sometimes… don’t seem to get this. I’ve seen people complain about WIPs not getting updated (especially with more popular WIPs that haven’t been updated in a while), and it’s like… yeah, that’s the thing with WIPs… you don’t know if they’ll ever get completed or not, it’s just a gamble.
Usually, it’s just a hobby, not a career for the author.
