I didn’t know where else to put this, but I found a continuity error between the two games.
In the first game, in my recent playthrough Jolon definitely died (and I finally got the trophy for killing Williams!) But yes, back to civility… So Jolon died in the first game, and in the second game I’m at the part where I’m about to raid the HSM camp and Jolon just pops up and everyone is all “business as usual” almost like he never even died, no surprise as to why he’s just now popping up halfway into the game, what happened after, he wasn’t even in the outbreak at the Nail… Only explanation is:
[“I haven’t seen much of you around the camp lately,” you say to him. “Glad you’re here with us.”
“Sonoma’s crew have been keeping me busy out on the perimeter with Nawat and her lieutenant Onyx. It’s pretty high stress, but at least now I get to take a break and attend the raid party.” ]
Nah… that’s not right at all. Doesn’t explain anything… and I really think it’s a continuity error. This isn’t the first time it’s happened, it happens in different ways depending on my playthrough.
Did you actually witness him being shot in the head in your Haven Rising playthrough? That’s the only way he stays dead, otherwise he manages to recover later on. If you saw him die, he should stay dead. If you didn’t see him die, there should have been an explanation at the beginning of Pack Mentality that he was close to death, some even thought he died, but managed to recover. I’ll look into it to check the code for any inconsistencies. You said ‘it happens in different ways depending on playthrough.’ Do you remember what the different ways were? Thank you for the report, I appreciate you taking the time!
I don’t have stat blocks for the individual characters, but I’d say at least 60. He’s the pack’s huntmaster, constantly trains in the gym during Haven Rising, and roamed the streets for patrols during restless nights. He’s also put in control of Sonoma’s border patrols in Pack Mentality which requires high stamina. He’s extremely physically active, a good fighter, etc…
So combined with werewolves’ regenerative abilities and his fairly high Vitality, he had a decent chance of making out of the fight alive, which he did, unless he got shot in the face. Got it
I betrayed Maker to Sonoma and she used the gas to kill the military. Outside, when Dena is freaking out, I chose the middle option that basically said “We’ve gone too far.”
However, the next screen’s dialogue with Bly seems to indicate that I selected an option that supported Sonoma’s actions. It starts with Bly saying “We should have fought them like civilized beings.”
Also, midly relevant to the topic, is it possible to betray Maker to Sonoma but prevent her from using the gas to kill the humans?
Now I am amazingly curious about what the primary stats of the main characters look like, Bly’s Combat and Vitality, Sonoma’s Leadership and Combat, Ahote’s Diplomacy and Academics, etc.
Just looked that up, it’s not really supposed to be you condoning it, it’s more that you’re taking issue with Bly saying civilized beings, because humans committing genocide is anything but civilized. I can see how it could be interpreted how you interpreted it though. I’ll make some language changes on the next patch.
I can certainly work some up as they exist in my head-canon. Like I said above though, they don’t have stat blocks at the moment. I’ll give it some consideration and see what I come up with!
I’m going to do another playthrough and keep track of the transition dialogue from Rising to Pack Mentality. I may have missed that explanation, to be fair.
What I remember from my “smarty pants” playthrough, Tiva indicates Jolon may be dead as she had seen his body after the battle.Once I got to the escape part, Jolon appears under disguise as one of the guards. What I found a bit… coarse I guess is that there wasn’t really an introduction or “I thought you died!” It was more or less “Hey dude whats the next step?”
Of course my recent playthrough Tiva explained the same thing in the beginning, and then much later on he just appeared out of nowhere right before a major event, with no explanation other than he was busy.
Also in my assassin playthrough, I only even know Jolon was there once I got training from Sonomas assassin squad. Jolon appears and tells me about my mission, but he wasn’t present at all up until that point in that playthrough.
I guess what I’m getting at is there really isn’t a transition dialogue to support the story, even though he may have survived I was told he was dead as far as Tiva was concerned, and when he does pop up my character doesn’t have a dialouge option of surprise or anything… I was hoping he would pull the “be still as death” trick and then survived until he got back with the group.
You are able to keep her, yes, and there is an ending where you join her in her private facility.
I appreciate your in-depth look into this. I’ve been really swamped for time the last week, but I actually like your suggestions and intend on putting this one in as canon. I swear I had Bly explain that Jolon was alive in the prison in chapter 1, but maybe I’m misremembering.
That would be awesome. I also just found another continuity error and have screenshots if you want that as well. Basically I accidentally found out you can join Williams when infiltrating the base to rescue Tiva I went that route, and Tiva was detained. As I’m going along with Elan during the war, it gets to the point that Lapu comes through the other side of the battlefield, and Tiva is there exclaiming that “It’s Lapu!” I have screenshots of this, and also at the very end when he says “Your friend is already on the way”
So I am confused on who are the new RO’s for Book 2? I am already with Bly and was hoping Maker would be a RO especially after seeing her naked in her room and flirting with her there. It would be criminal to not have Maker as a RO in Book 3 especially after seeing her naked. Is there a lesbian poly route for Bly?
Given the bleakness of this book, I’ve seen some people asking whether it’ll be possible to play a peaceful MC but I am actually wondering whether it is the opposite that won’t be possible.
There are, let’s say, a thousand werewolves in the US, more or less? The odds against the military are…not good. It seems like the only options available to the wolves are to either be considered US citizens and see their rights respected or hide their nature and pretend to be human.
I would like an option to lead the pack to victory in war but I’m not sure if that is realistic.
From the header of Chapter 4: “Our ancestors fought by brute force and the claw, but this new war will be won through cunning and deception. The human wartime apparatus is too powerful to be defeated, and thus our only option is to turn it against its masters.” - Major Rivera, two years before the Jackson Slaughter
MC/Bly/Jolon is the only threesome in the book, and to be honest (I think I mentioned above) it almost didn’t make it in at all. I’m proud of it, but making a ton of specialized scenes that less than 1% of players will see is tough when the book was already slightly overdue. I always wish I could write more, but we all have to be reasonable or it wouldn’t come out for a few more years.
