I’m curious as to what personality traits each packmate likes. I’m pretty sure Nin likes Humans Must Understand because while it’s hard for her to care about humans she still wants to and acts like it (which is just as good as the real thing). Melodie, on the other hand, I don’t think likes Our Weapon is Rage which makes sense. Podge probably does like it, however. Not sure about Elton.
First, I’d definitely like to see that Gift or Feitish for myself. I certainly don’t remember any that could cleanse any city of its vampire presence in one blow.
Second, the difference is that this fetish can make the moon itself vanish from the sky whenever it is used.
@Kaio_Kryvoss thank you so much for all your answers! They certainly helped clear stuff up, and now I remember that the book did bring up the whole “Did Weaver lose her senses first and attempt to trap the Wyrm or was it vice versa” argument.
That makes so much sense to me! The world’s still plodding on, but barely. Poor Gaia.
Right? I think the whole point is that he only gets up and starts to destroy stuff if he gets really mad, and then he does it by way of a cool dance. I think he has a lot of romantic appeal in pop culture, given how ridiculously devoted he was to his wife, and given how powerful he was. His story’s quite interesting, actually. I should probably go read up more on it before I start talking crap.
Re: the Creator, there are stories that he began a relationship with his own daughter and that he was generally a pervert. Most Hindus are super grossed out by even the remotest forms of incest. You can’t even marry a 7th cousin under the law, technically. And they’re very blasé about non-sexual violence against children so when Siva beheaded his own son in a fit of rage and then had to fix an elephant head atop him, most people were like, “Oh, you silly man, you,” and went back to worshipping him like a boss.
I wish someone with a deeper understanding of these topics could butt in at this point and tell us what’s going on with all the Gods. Is Kyle right when he gave us all that lore about the goddess Shakti and her later incarnation, Kali? Because if Shakti predates the Vedas, then she predates the Brahma the Creator.
But I’m digressing as usual.
Oh, interesting! So Aila from Night Road would be an ancilla, then? Which means Lettou must have been older than her by another few decades at the very least.
Omg! This is too complicated for me. So high rage gives us a penalty when we’re trying to be charming? It had better give us a boost when we’re trying to scare people.
Yep! It goes in chronological order, starting with Ragabash (September) and ending with Ahroun (January). I wonder if Feb - August aren’t good months for werewolves. Which sucks, because Melodie is such a Leo!
I managed to pass it in one of my playthroughs! I had pretty high manipulation and subterfuge and low rage. Oh, and I was dressed like a preppy girl who “has very strong opinions on the early works of Lana Del Rey”, per Elton. (Side note: I love how Elton roasts us for our clothing choices every time.)
I’m really, REALLY not a fan of these stupid Nazis, but that mace/ax weapon thing is super useful. That said, I’ve collaborated with those mfs every time save for one playthrough, and I only got that weapon once. I think the other times, Giselle swooped in and grabbed it while we were fighting? Or perhaps it was a bug. I’ll have to try it again.
Speaking of the Cult, what are people’s opinions on letting them burn down the Hog vs going the other route to unleash Nin’s wolf? The latter way seems a lot less messy, but Elton keeps bitching about the loss of the spirits’ spiritual energy. And yet Nin says later on in the game that the spirits only get stronger, not weaker, when used for rituals. Or does that only apply for healing rituals? I’ve mostly been going the Hog burning down route and saving as many people as I could, but I don’t always succeed in saving everyone and the other route only features one casualty.
I always stop the fire, because, besides endangering a large amount of people, some of which are on your side, Nazis should be allowed nothing, on principle, and Elton can shut right the fuck up about doing it otherwise. Dude “spent the last three years lying face down on a rug” (lol), he doesn’t get to one-sidedly dictate how things get done now (and now you know exactly what part of the Litany makes my Conviction keep yo-yoing up and down).
Nin’s a Child of Gaia, so yes. Nin likes stuff that leads to high Humanity, straightforwardness, and using violence as a last resort.
Elton’s a Shadow Lord, and he likes ruthless, ends-justify-the-means kind of stuff (if the Hog Throne fire didn’t clue you in), and gathering information before acting.
Melodie’s a Silver Fang, meaning that she’s a superfan of the Litany, but also likes ending shit then and there. She likes “axe time” when applied to the Wyrm and the otherwise spiritually corrupt, like the Fenris. For bonus “fuck the Fenris” points, she’s also jewish. Well, jewish-ish.
Podge is the unusual combo of Bone Gnawer ahroun, and he likes to protect the vulnerable part of humanity and blow shit up, which combines in a result that his favourite way to protect the vulnerable part of humanity is to preemptively blow up the shit that would threaten them. The larger the blast radius, the better. This is so incredibly true that at one point the other packmates break through the Answering Tiger’s influence because they notice Podge still has grenades, and there’s absolutely zero chance of that happening if there HAD been a fight, and at another point Podge makes a bunch of Banes dive for cover by throwing an energy drink at them, because the assumption is that if PODGE is throwing something at you, it’s going to blow. Podge is the sort of news that gets around.
I really with there would be a chance to raise Podge’s opinion/romance him without having to do the most idiotic, shortsighted stuff possible lol
Sadly I don’t have nor Rage against the Heavens, The Book of Auspices or Hammer and Klaive anymore so I cannot search about it and it’s been more than 20 years, but over the top stuff? yeah, Legacy - and mostly Revised - is full of them, that and much much more, for example is not that Gift I mentioned before but a Silver Fang one, Renew the Cycle - I have the player’s guide second edition - can make any vampire that fail the resistance into dust with a look.
And Croatans got one that is a literal Orbital Laser from the sun.
Also yes, Vampires cannot soak agravated damage caused by the sun, summon the sun, if they don’t have Fortitude they cannot soak it, and because it can act and is not alone because the summoner and its pack is also there…
This was one of the conclusion of an Under the Blood Red Moon campaing I saw IRL.
I could continue the post giving you more examples on how over the top and crazy Revised is, but this is not the place.
This is very helpful, thank you! I always waffle back and forth on the Litany so it’s no wonder Melodie is like “yeah, I fed you once already.”
Ok so it looks like Hogsthrone is just completely fucked for me. Cause not only did I fail that Heinrich Wit+Awareness check with a combined 6, I also failed the following Int+Academics check to talk to the witch lady with a combined 5. Welp!
I think you were one point short. I know this, because my Garou is a nerd and IIRC I passed it with 6.
In this case, it’s rage penalties.
See I would think so too but I passed the Heinrich check with a 5 before but now I can’t with a 6. So I dunno.
My guess: you either had new clothes in one and not the other, or a Rage penalty difference because you’re playing with a different auspice or were more aggressive in your initial lines (and there’s no way to burn Rage in that mission before meeting Heinrik).
Nope. I’ve always worn the prep clothes, always been a theurge, and was always at 2 rage at that point in time. The only differences I made is in the prologue where I killed the thing with the lupus form instead of hominid cause I wanted the extra wit+athletic.
rage-1/2, in your case it would be 0,5 which is rounded to 1, so you don’t have the 5 necessary to pass.
I thought 2 rage doesn’t have any penalty
Regardless, if that’s the case of why I couldn’t pass the Int+Academics check, that would mean I failed the Wit+Awareness at a 5 rather than 6. Which wouldn’t make sense because you can pass that check with a 5.
It does. Rage penalty is (Rage-1)/2, round up, meaning that the only Rage value that gives no penalty is 1.
Ok so I restarted and went with killing the bane in human form and I managed to succeed the Hogsthrone Heinrich check despite being at a lower combined stat number. I’m kinda livid ngl. So it’s gotta be the weapon I chose. I picked the dagger rather than the machete, so I’m gonna restart AGAIN to check and see if that’s that problem. Which would be weird if it was.
Okay yeah no, from what I gathered it seems killing the bane in Lupus form is what cause that Heinrich Wit+Awareness check to fail.
I did It as lupus and didn’t fail, so or It was a bug, of those I suffered a lot or the cause was another thing completely.
