I actually initiated romance with Elton pretty late - on brownie night - and he and my MC have still progressed nicely. It would definitely be nice to spend more time with our ROs, though, since I’m a greedy bish. Thanks for the tips on how to romance Melodie. I’m guessing the same thing applies to other packmates too? I’ve been letting many of them get injured in my attempt to maximise answers and protect people and that’s made the stag mad too! I don’t know about the others, but I had no idea about WoD and its entire universe, and I really, really appreciated all the coding you did to ensure we had such diverse experiences in every playthrough! I rescued Melodie first this time in my latest playthrough and Podge was so confused when we brought up Ashfield later on in the game. The difficulty levels are decent if you turn on Storyteller mode and turn off Iron Wolf mode, even for players like me who forget to strategically maximise their traits and skills. And the characters feel palpably real, with their strengths and weaknesses! I’ve been reading the books nonstop the past week, and I think I’ve even started to dream about characters. I’m obsessed with Trevor! He’s such a sweetie big bro type character and he reminds me so much of my own protective older cousin. And most importantly, I love the interactions between the characters. I can’t wait for future DLCs and I’m preparing to save up so I can buy all those Vampire CoG games too from the same universe.

I completely agree! I do tend to give him the full tape depending on what sort of character I’m playing (if the MC respects the Litany and also wants answers, there’s nothing to do but share the video), but I do think it might serve to validate him, in a Shadow Lord sort of way. Perhaps because my MC has had that conversation with Elton and he’s moving on and admits that Katherine was never the love of his life and it was more likely an infatuation since she represented everything he could be. (She was definitely amazing, but I’m just glad we don’t have to romance someone who was Harmonie’s spouse. She definitely seems like someone who would be impossible to get over.)
W.r.t. Podge, he calls Nomi an autistic bodymoder, a term that I had to Google. Nomi doesn’t feel like they were bodymoding in that moment. They were being their authentic (and possibly autistic) self. I did appreciate when he snapped at Dafne when she kept calling Nin an it instead of a she. And I appreciate him in general. I guess that’s the problem with characters who are hilarious. Sometimes they can say edgy things that seem problematic to sensitive people like me. But overall I do love his candour and his silly sense of humour, and even if I didn’t, I adore his ability to roll with the punches and do everything he can to help the humans. Honestly, so far I’m only really struggling with Melodie as a pack member, but maybe I can find a subsequent playthrough where her goals and core values match my MC’s!
So i found that Theurges have the most gifts available, after that Philodoxs with four gifts available. I love the mama bear gift so i think i will play as theurge next and finally get 12 gifts. I already have Falcon of Doors but it’s kind of underwhelming. I thought it would be more like the Animalism discipline form VTM. The animals just kind of distract the enemy and gather information and nothing else. I wanted pets like the dobermans of Daphne Clear.
I just wanted to say firstly I love the long detailed responses. Sometimes i feel like such a windbag for giving myself so its great to see someone else doing it too lol
From what I understand about Melodie she really is the archetype of the Silverfang Philodox. In the interview, the author basically said he wanted to not only make real people, but for it to feel like the TTRPG where you’re around people who are playing out characters; Elton for example, is a classic Theurge shadow lord, wonderful relationship with the spirits, basically commanding Stormcat to a degree and always seeking the unorthodox and even ethically unsound option to learn and accomplish his goals, much like Katherine at the end who literally tries to sacrifice Elton. . I guess since Melodie is both a Philodox AND a Silverfang, she doubly embodies that “'im the boss and the leader, we do things my way and right way” archetype. so it makes sense she tries to muscle her way into the group doing things her way since she’s used to being in charge and vehemently argues against anything that against her values even if its a better idea overall. This is especially seen when she snaps and kills Froman if you convince Elton not to kill him and even he needs to shut her down, she brings up Rank and the Litany when someone disagrees with her like if you recommend waiting before going to Esther’s bar, or how she refused to entertain the idea of working with the Cult of Fenris or letting them blow up Nin’s show. She even ignores you about not ramming through the factory and punches you in the face if you try and stand up to her and tell her you do not want to do it. Even crazier to me personally is that going to stand up to her is a SKILL CHECK rather than say, just common sense and a firm sentence but I digress. Even if you succeed that check, she STILL ends up doing it anyway and is completely unapologetic about it .
I also struggle with Melodie like every playthrough I do- she’s just not a team player. Personally my least favorite character. But her character is very consistent and well fleshed out so thats good and we both care about people so my standing with her never hits zero. MAJOR spoiler warnings btw just in case anyone reading this in the future haven’t played through the game

And I adore your description of Melodie. I suppose she’s one of those people whom you’ll really only love if you happen to be on the same side of things. I didn’t know she overrides is even if we pass a skill check! Damn, this means I’ve been right to rescue her last in my playthroughs! At least you can reason with Elton, Podge and Daphne. (I never reason with Nin; I just want to give her everything she wants regardless of how unreasonable she’s being.)
Wow. I can maybe get 2 from the whole list? I will have to reexamine and not quick read. Quick look I was able to see 2, there was at least 2 others I could but wrong type. One was theurge that I wasnt and the other, something, but not that one either.
Interesting. I will literally have to save and recheck. I was right that barely any spirit likes how I am.

Does anyone know if there are any hidden achievements in this game? I feel like i saw it somewhere but I don’t see any indications in the achievements tab.
Is Breaker of Wings canon in W:TA? I really like the idea that a werewolf is responsible for imprisoning humans in their own planet. And this is the most political werewolf story I have ever come across and I love it.
