Way Walkers: University3--suggestions and feedback

I just want my character to stop being a cripple

I like the theater girl and romance options in general so maybe a few more romance scenes with the love interests would be nice. Also like a few more battle scenes cause those were fun too

While the disabilities from dying will never go away, they do become more manageable if you make the correct choices.

Quick questions i’m new, and i was hoping to get some help

Some things which have already been said which I think are really great ideas:

  • Humiliating Clay. I don’t think it really needs to get to the level of expulsion but I think it would be so cool if you could use your most advanced Way or Ways in order to beat him (bit vague, I know) somehow. e.g If you’re in a creative Way, you could spin up a song or play or painting that pokes fun at him cleverly rather than outright maliciously (much like Kvothe does to Ambrose in the Kingkiller Chronicles, if you’ve read them). If you’re in a wisdom or knowledge Way, you could have an encouter in front of the whole school in which your prove him absolutely dim-witted or if you’re in a combat Way, I think you could come up with a really cool scenario (perhaps involving Sem) in which you could
  • Pull one over on Cael. My imagination has led me to a scenario of displaying to the school he’s a total scumbag (can I say that on CoG?) and has been cheating the exemplaries out of good marks whilst also acing his test. I think my MC will be able to pass anyway due to his focus on intellegence but I would love to see that cretin get exposed. I think this would be a great option for us rebellious good guys who don’t want to cheat with Sem and his stolen exam papers but also want to expose the villanous Cael.
  • Don’t force the romance or Sem choice. I feel quite strongly about this for a couple of reasons: firstly, what’s the point? I can’t really see any reason to have to choose between your friendship and your relationship; I understand having to decide whom to go with at certain times (i.e zoo trip scene) but having an ultimatum is only going to be good for the players who want to dump the girl/boy and have mischeif with Sem. Secondly, I love how that guy is actually so wise and understanding to the MC when it gets down to it. For instance, in part 2 I have neglected him for helping Jun and chilling with Kess a bit but he has been so cool about it and the only way an ultimatum would start is if the romance character caused it. I’m not against having a romance option with Sem, by the way, but that’s a whole other discussion.
  • Also don’t force Sem-Jun conciliation. This is a short point but I love their mild hostility and any real friendship wouldn’t suit their personalities. I do like how they tolerate each other for the MC’s sake though.

Some original (I think :worried:) ideas from me:

  • Story for love interest. Whilst I cannot commend you enough for all the backstory and lovely detail you get from romance in the game, I feel as if the undeviating and infrequent actual interactions could get incredibly boring for a whole other interactive novel and, as @Apocrypha pointed out, their behaviour doesn’t change very much and the game still referred to Kess as my ‘friend’. There are couple of choices you can make to fix this, in my opinion, however:
    — Use the love interest for the main story. I must confess, whilst I have had many playthroughs of the WWU games, I haven’t really explored all the romance options so I don’t know the characters’ skill sets but I do know Kess would be incredibly useful for gaining a support for your Illyan plan, being so popular. I would also love to see how they interact with Jun and Sem.
    — Make a real sub-plot with your romance completely seperate from the main plot. This would be really cool as it would make the love interest a real, functioning, or not functioning :joy:, relationship. It could take the form of so many things from helping him/her out with a class in an interesting way (with a lower case w) to resolving some animosity with the MC’s or their friends.
  • Opportunities to show off proficiencies. I feel as if it would be so cool if you could show off your best Ways outside of the main plot. Some recognition from other students of my MC’s intelligence and wisdom, for instance, would be great as it seems to me that it would be far more realistic than just using them without anyone noticing. The same, I think, could be said for the other Ways too. (I see after writing this @jeexx95 said something similar pertaining to Beleskie.)
  • Suspicion of Red. Okay, the MC must look so suspect right now. I know it depends what choices you make but he/she is potentially in the middle of every evil occurence in the whole thing. For gods’ sake my MC was about to bang Kess and all of a sudden there’s a dead body found next to us. If this was America and the MC is black he would have been shot like 16 times already (aaah! controversy! If anyone is a moderator or equivalent of this forum and I’m not supposed to say things like that let me know; please don’t let this whole comment go to waste). I think I would be perfect for whoever the masterminds are behind the Illyan thing are. I’ve been poking my nose where it doesn’t belong, so to speak, and I look so guilty anway! It’s only logical for me to become a victim of the conspiracy. This is all assuming there is a conspiracy, however. (Again, after writing this I realised @kwerpoable wrote something really similar.)

That’s all I’ve got for now! Keep up the good work!

post scriptum: I’m so sorry if this is awful advice; I am really not an expert on this stuff! On top of being a kid, I have had minimal experience actually writing games like these so feel free to dismiss this in the most abrasive manner you see fit!

Hope this isn’t too late!

Take my relationship with Sem to the next level, maybe be able to get a paying job and buy stuff, get more proficient at rosin, do something crazy little more free will

The injury that I find to be the most debilitating is the intelligence one. Don’t know how to manage that one.

If you’re still taking suggestions I would like to either beat clay within an inch of his life or successfully frame him as a follower of red

Since this is the only way walker topic active, is jun romancable? Or is that just a hazy dream?

Hazy dream, sadly. Jun in unrefutably in love with Ay’cure (a), and not the MC.

I would love to see how you could influence your love interest and finally have a girlfriend because it wasn’t involved so I would love to see how this carrys over.

I’m not sure I understand-- you basically become a couple with yr love interest after the dance in wwu2 if yr successful.

I forgot if I asked this before, but does Montage have an Aspect? What in the world would it be?

If Montage is ‘The Way of All Ways’ shouldn’t his Aspect be something like “The Wayless Path” or “The Rejection of All Ways”. Or am I focusing on the conflict/resolution being opposite sides of the coin thing and Montage’s Aspect would be radically different? Maybe it’s a system where the main leads to the Aspect, like a Conflict always has a Resolution…

Montage is singular in the fact he does not have an Aspect.

It should also be mentioned that Avatars and Aspects are not actually opposites, but complements. For example, Kubesh’s Aspect is strategy-- he is the physical, while she is the planning. You need both to do well.

My question is Beleski has some practical utility? Don’t get me wrong is my favorite way in theory. I am a ultra fan of charisma in all rpg is always my main stat . But here it’s just pick Beleskie to suck . I only did good charming Sem. So keeping aside Actors and that stuff. What utility has a beleski adept in combat or similar? Could her charming and confuse a rival… like bards in table rpgs. Like use glamour … Because I hardly ever could do real magic in any check …

Interesting. What made you come to that decision, did it just feel ‘right’ or could you just not think of a believable Aspect?

Now, now lets not trat Bellie so poorly. The stat dies suck-- its just not combat oriented. Your Bellie strengths is more with the interpersonal relationships and for the acting club. Not every stat is going to make you super powerful across the board. :stuck_out_tongue:

LOL. Aw, come on you should know me better than to think I couldn’t come up with something better-- though the deeper reasoning is a spoiler for later books. :stuck_out_tongue:
