UnNatural Season Two Released 4th May 23

Keep the questions coming. A few questions I’ll answer now because I don’t see them as being particular spoilery.

@Urban asked

“Will Unnatural be on Steam when you launch the Season 2?”

I don’t know about this, but one of the main reasons for my editing of season one is the fact CoG are porting Hosted Games over to Steam so the revised version will have a better chance.

“Will we be able to augment our Azure/Shade powers?”

Yes, there are chances to improve either Azure or Shade powers (this includes new abilities too :wink: )

@Zsero asks

“How will it work if we carry over a romance into season 2 but find a RO we want to be with instead?”

there will be options to break up or cheat or in certain cases join in it depends on the character really :wink:

@SirLordChris asks

“Length of the game overall and length of a playtrough ?”

I’m thinking it’ll be bigger than season one as it has 6 episodes of cases compared to 3 episodes of the first season.

“What would you be doing most of the game ? Generally being a part
of SRT or maybe doing something else , like going rogue or something ?”

As Urban said, Arthur does assemble a new team which he puts completely in your hands.

“Will there be more “ads” ? I loved them back in Season One (Cataphrak’s infinite supply of swords killed meh )”

Definitely. The ads are an intrigal part of the Unnatural experience :slight_smile:

@Karavolos

Yes early in the development process I considered having gender specific cases which looking back would in effect punish players who don’t choose to be a particular gender. So what I started to do (and want im hoping to do with this latest batch of editing) is add a lot of minor variations depending on your gender.

This is best seen in Episode one and two where Craig treats you differently than Sarah does, also you can be let into the party without a fight if a girl likewise the trainer in the S.R.T takes abit more interest in female players which also has a funny way of putting a stop to it.

There are a couple of social scenes currently but I’ll definitely look into adding more.

There are a few moments you can use shade outside of battle, namely the hospital when you first get it as well as when you try and infiltrate a M.R.U base.

As for breaking the masquerade that has happened already, Case Zero where you family died revealed monsters to the world

A little update about the planning of the case “Chime” for season two I’ve decided and made a note that the parents will react to their son “talking to ghosts” depending on which group came out on top in season one. If S.R.T “won” (closes a month later) the parents are accepting of it, whereas if the M.R.U won (s.r.t is closed immediately) then they have trouble with it.

“Yes early in the development process I considered having gender specific cases which looking back would in effect punish players who don’t choose to be a particular gender.”

[Rant Warning]
I disagree with this notion about as much as I would disagree that it “punishes” people to choose wanting to be in Beta Squad rather than Alpha Squad or to pick the Azure powers over Shade powers or pick this Mission over that Mission or any other variation of selecting A over B; it doesn’t punish people, it rewards replayability. They can go and play Path B after they’re done with A, nothing stops them; and if anything I think it punishes the rest of us more if we can’t have additional replayability because someone else can’t stand the idea of playing, in this case, a certain gender.

Not to get into political ideologies here, but I think we should encourage people to simply move on with something they don’t like rather than try to prevent others from enjoying it too because they don’t like it. I mean, I too have had moments where I just can’t stand a particular way of playing a game- most notably evil characters -and I don’t go out of my way to try and prevent others from playing evil characters if they want to; what right have I got to say they can’t?
Likewise, I don’t think you should purposefully restrict ideas that can really put meat on the bones of even minuscule details and that really makes Unnatural stand one as one of the best (and imo the best) Choice of Games out there because of someone out there might not want to replay the game in a different way to see the extra content and supposedly can’t move on.
[End of Rant]

Sorry about my rant here, I just feel that this mindset ultimately is more harmful than good and really wanna see this game and universe flourish; you’ve done great with it so far and I look forward greatly to both Season 2 and the revised Season 1; you’ll definitely have my money if it shows up on Steam :slight_smile:

@Nocturnal_Stillness I just came up with a question. It might’ve been answered before, but if so I don’t remember seeing it anywhere. Will the MC run into other Azure in season two? (I mean living ones. Not animated corpses like the brother or echoes of memories of Azure long gone.)

This one I can answer!

Okay everyone, tis the weekend and now I’ll answer the ten best questions,

Beware there may be spoilers or interesting tidbits from the Unnaturalverse :slight_smile:

@Lithophene asks
“Who are season two’s companions/ROs and what do you consider to be their most defining trait(s)?”

Companions for season two will consist of any Gamma member who survived Season One. Plus you can recruit Marie (only if you spare Samuel’s life) brand new companions are Cassandra who is a member of the Boston branch of S.R.T., Damon who is a member of the Chicago branch of S.R.T. Also through choices you can recruit Charlene (who I’ll discuss more in a followinq question) as well as three as yet unnamed characters who happen to be unnaturals.

As for defining traits, Marie is very loyal if a bit naive, how you talk and treat Samuel will have a big effect on her realtionship wiith you. Cassandra is a very stern and serious woman who takes a lot of pride in what she does. (in fact depending on which ending you get she can even replace a familiar face from season one as head of security.

@poison_mara asks
" Could Our character get rid of the power stuff and being human again? Could our character suicide?"

No you cannot get rid of your powers as it is very much a part of you, however not only am I working in more non-powe options in combat, but during season two there will be the option of trying and sealing your power. As for suicide maybe depening on the ending to season two.

[The next two questions were very similar so I’ll answer them together.]

@Baam asks
“Is our souls addiction going to cause trouble with the fae or others?”

@NotGoingToGiveUp asks
“Will we get attacked by fae for taking souls? There will be a specific power or two only obtainable by a soul eater?”

Taking enough souls will attract the wrath of the Fae. They will give you a warning to stop however before coming after you. Your companions will also react differently to you when they discover you are doing it (not all reactions will be bad - I’m looking at you Victor!. BUT Lakota lovers should REALLY think twice, family is important to him but if he loves you enough he WILL put himself between his family and you which would destroy him.)

@Nathan_Faxon asks
“Will Marie will be an RO?”

Yes she will.

@EmperorHeartless asks
“Just how far could the MC influence the state of the world, regarding
views on Supernaturals and how much power can the MC amass (influence,
military power, personal abilities, etc)”

The state of the world will change each season and will mainly vary on the endings. At the end of season one for example the two main variations refer to whether the S.R.T ended better off than the M.R.U getting an extra month to sort things out before being closed, or whether the ended up worse off and got shut immediately. The former results in the world being a bit more aware of Unnaturals and government-led replacements for the S.R.T. and the latter resulting in no replacements and a more “you should accept unnaturals as part of our world now and we shouldn’t try and police them differently to humans.” which also causes an increase in unnatural caused deaths as the M.R.U who are meant to look after Unnaturals don’t feel they should interfere.

Silver Cross Inc starts up as a private replacement for the S.R.T. describes as a collection of dedicated former members from around the country, As you succeed in missions reputation will grow which means recognition from the government. It can grow from a small specialised unit into a larger organisation with government backing.

As for personal power the MC is the leader and effective owner of the company. They make the choices in how it is run, who does what etc.

@Karavolos asks
" I wonder how the ending of Season 1 will affect Season 2 and how far into the future we are?"

Season Two takes place a month after the events at the end of season one.

I talked a bit about how the endings affect season 2 in a previous answer (Re:state of the world) but to go into a little bit more details, it will also affect how much available money you start off with for Silver Cross Inc, how certain cases play out will also change.

@Cecilia_Rosewood asks
“Will the MC run into other Azure in season two?”

Urban quoted infortmation about the case “Azurean Dream” but I’ll elaborate a bit more. In season Two in that case you will meet Charlene Nash who happens to be a surviving Azure, she was in hiding using a device meant to seal her powers, the azurean orb you find in Season One that eventually breaks causes her own seal to break which returns her powers and reveals your prescence to her.

There will also be a few more Azures who awaken after the orb breaks (azure souls when released will seek out suitable vessels aka people who possess the azure bloodline.)

You will also meet one of the original Azure who took part in the Azurean Civil War.

I hope you enjoyed your answers. If a answer is not quite what you were after let me know and I can fix them :slight_smile:

Thanks for the answers! I sincerely hope another Azure war happens with all those Azure awakening…

Maybe Silver Cross Inc could have an entire Azure squadron. Course that itself might spark another Azurean Civil War…

She has her reasons :wink:

I was kind of hoping we could get some kind of symbiosis law going or something.

Working out werewolf psychiatry has got to be easier than trying to make some chemical “cure”.

as boss of Silver Cross Inc you can choose which research you want to do, so hiring unnaturals to help other unnaturals would be possible. i,e it;d perfectly be possible to get Denise to help someone who has recently been infected with lycanthropy etc

Yes it will be possible, difficult but possible, also depending on your relationship with Lakota it may involve having to kill/beat him.

Could we possibly recruit Charlene? She would probably feel a lot better sticking close to somebody of her own kind after all.

read my previous answer to the questions of new companions :wink:

Azure partners kicking ass. If I wasn’t excited enough for season two, I definitely am now :grin:

So…Taking more power, sorry, souls, may fuck things up between my MC and Scar? Mmm…Great, now I´m torn. Thanks for the answer by the way.

Yes out of the current romances;

Ashley, Austin, Craig/Sarah, Scarlet will react badly

Victor will just accept it.

Denise will be worried but be accepting it might be part of your azure nature.

Lakota can either react badly or try and deal with it even getting between you and his family.
