UnNatural - A supernatural horror game - editing complete, beta testing over

I would like to join in the beta. My favorite scene is when your character has the choice to infiltrate the monsters rights group and warn everybody in the S.T.R HQ about the bomb preventing many members being killed from the explosionor to go into the building and prevent an animator to bring back your brother from the dead unless you let him and you fight your brother. It was a hard to choice to make knowing the story depends from the action in the next volume.

Iā€™d like to join the beta. I find the scene when your character has to fight Ren, my favorite . My character tend to be well rounded with all shade powers at the cost of humanity.( being human is overrated) So i managed to stalk Ren tell the very last bet, and after you kill him he Plays his last prank on you with his faceless smile, then he say " your parents would have been proud". Now I found this scene to be this both heart warming and sad. Ren was by far my favorite character and for being an 8 year old version of yourself he was more powerful and wise. Acting as a Mentor when you needed him ,so first time I found out he had to die I was rather shock. :frowning: But i did at least get more Powerful because of him so thank you Ren.

@Xero_Espadas @Grey_Wizard

added you to the beta tester PM.

Thank you for the invite

Are there any other spaces open? If so I would love to.
Also, could you PM me the codes? (I feel embarrassed to ask this but I just canā€™t find the code in Case four, Mayhaps another hint?)

PM the codes you have discovered and Iā€™ll give you hints for whatever youā€™re missing.

Iā€™m having the update beta tested for one more week so Iā€™m looking for a few more people to beta test the updated version of season one and make sure any and all bugs are mushed into the ground.

If youā€™re interested comment below with what your favorite scene in the game is and whyā€¦

Iā€™ll add those ones I like to the beta test list. Good luck!

Hello. I know I just created an account and started chiming in, but when I saw you communicating and working with people to get things in Unnatural updated I figured this is the avenue for it.

First of all, great game. I have been enjoying it, and have tried playing through it in several ways. I would love to participate in the beta for it.

I play on my Kindle Fire. Actually do most of everything online with my Fire. I have a bit to say about this game.

I am not sure I would like being able to skip the first part of the game, as it is storyline. I would however like to be able to quote unquote skip the dream flashbacks. If I were given an option to either proceed, wake up, or if I had high enough will the option to Lucid Dream, giving you control of the dream and you can change your choices, even if it does not actually affect the game. Though it could possibly be a route to character name change?

I want my decisions to always matter, so when I get stonewalled on something, I feel routed. The best instance I can think of for this is when, near the end of the story as an Azure, you are given the option to absorb the souls from the orb. Yet choosing that option results in you being unable to, and choosing to destroy it results in a decision not to. Maybe I am missing something, but if the consequences for choosing to rip the souls out of the orb or destroying it are negative, I would still rather suffer them than be routed to a certain choice.

When the building is under attack by the MRU and you are given the choice to go to several different locations then fight several unnaturals, you can only choose so many places then the story advances. I would rather be able to choose all of the places and then go to a certain option to advance, or just have the option to advance without visiting any.

As far as I know my decisions as an Azure to absorb every soul I came into contact with and trading off all my humanity for power did not really affect the story except to allow me to stomp every thing I encountered. I would like to see more consequences for those decisions.

I like that you can have relationships, but I will be honest, I would like a bit more in terms of options where it comes to sex and relationships. I spent time as a female character wooing other female characters, yet my character rarely got laid, and never had the opportunity for a threesome or cheating. Maybe I just was not doing it right.

I would like to be able to save more of my opponents. Like that doctor. I was given the option to try, yet it always results in his death unless I am missing something. Not impossible. I think it would be interesting to see how their continued existence would affect the storyline.

The book you find in the beginning that might have a spell, what is that about? I always try to cast the spell and nothing ever happens, so I do not know if its a chance thing or if it is meant for future game content. It baffles me. I am baffled.

I would like more stealth options if I choose Shade. I was hoping to be able to pull off some fun assassinations, yet it hardly ever seemed to play into the game.

When choosing to go to the MRU headquarters instead of save your brothers corpse, I feel there are not strong enough repercussions. Why am I not allowed to slaughter everyone at the MRU, and why isnā€™t the brother brought back anyway, only stronger because you werenā€™t there to stop him?

I know there is more, but I have already wrote quite a bit. Again, great game. I enjoy playing it.

Thanks for reading.

Hello. I know I just created an account and started chiming in, but when I saw you communicating and working with people to get things in Unnatural updated I figured this is the avenue for it.

Welcome to the forums, and yes this is the best place for suggestions and complaints and general banter about Unnatural.

First of all, great game. I have been enjoying it, and have tried playing through it in several ways. I would love to participate in the beta for it.

I am glad youā€™re enjoying the game. The beta for the update is coming to an end soon so I canā€™t offer a place for that. However I intend to start working on season two and there will be an open beta for that.

Iā€™m not sure about making the dreams skippable especially as they are only there in season one as the player is aware about what they are by the end of the game so the dream bits arenā€™t needed in the second season.

I agree choices should matter and the majority of main choices should matter be it effecting the growth of your character or an npc. In regards to the orb originally the player was able to absorb or destroy the orb but as I wrote the ending the planning for season two was leading to the orb being important to the plot in season two. So I came up with the idea that your azure side (be it in azure or shade form) intervenes on your part to keep the orb for its important role. - I agree that it takes away a choice physically but I thought of it that players can still choose what they want to do but forces outside their control intervene.

When the building is under attack by the MRU and you are given the choice to go to several different locations then fight several unnaturals, you can only choose so many places then the story advances. I would rather be able to choose all of the places and then go to a certain option to advance, or just have the option to advance without visiting any.

A few of the beta testers mentioned this as well so Iā€™m making it so that players can visit all places if they wish.

As far as I know my decisions as an Azure to absorb every soul I came into contact with and trading off all my humanity for power did not really affect the story except to allow me to stomp every thing I encountered. I would like to see more consequences for those decisions.

absorbing souls should have an effect,it can trigger Lakota warning you to stop doing it. It will also come into play more during season two.

Same about trading humanity for your shade powerss, low humanity allow you additional choices and has a scene where the player hallucinates.

I like that you can have relationships, but I will be honest, I would like a bit more in terms of options where it comes to sex and relationships. I spent time as a female character wooing other female characters, yet my character rarely got laid, and never had the opportunity for a threesome or cheating. Maybe I just was not doing it right.

there are romance paths in the game if you check my website www.nocturnalstillness.com there is a romance guide for the game there which might help.

I would like to be able to save more of my opponents. Like that doctor. I was given the option to try, yet it always results in his death unless I am missing something. Not impossible. I think it would be interesting to see how their continued existence would affect the storyline.

You can save the doctor but you canā€™t take Lakota on that case and you need a decent reputation to convince the team to spare him.

The book you find in the beginning that might have a spell, what is that about? I always try to cast the spell and nothing ever happens, so I do not know if its a chance thing or if it is meant for future game content. It baffles me. I am baffled.

The spell never does anything itself, but reading the book gives the player a boost to their Will stat (which should occur in Episode 3 (iirc) and it reappears in a choice in Episode 4

[Ren has been helping me translate that tome I found in the library.]

which has a second choice where you can choose volume one or volume two for a boost to either will or humanity.

It also triggers additional text in the ā€œSchool Dazeā€ case when studying the symbols carved into the walls.

I would like more stealth options if I choose Shade. I was hoping to be able to pull off some fun assassinations, yet it hardly ever seemed to play into the game.

You can use shade to do a few stealth bits (mainly during the fight with Ren or dealing with an Animator and her cronies.) Iā€™ll look into adding more stealthy bits into season two.

The return of your brother if you donā€™t go to him is something Iā€™ve been considering for season two. In the revised endings players can make a choice to do what they want to do after the attack an option to go after the M.R.U could fit quite nicely into that.

I know there is more, but I have already wrote quite a bit. Again, great game. I enjoy playing it.

Thanks for reading.

Thanks for your comments, I hope my answers help.

Matthew

First of all, thanks for the great game. The branching cases were a good way of helping to make decisions more meaningful and were quite fun. Some choices didnā€™t feel as much, like humanity for example. I think I saw only one additional choice despite running for a minimum humanity/shade run (Max at the SRT raid), and the same goes for the ā€œmoralityā€ choices. I was hoping that they would affect some sort of hidden morality variable along the way, but alas.

Second, a quick look at this thread implies that there are multiple new game plus codes, but Iā€™ve strangely only found the three for the vampre/werewolf/zombie choice at the beginning. Iā€™ve run the game multiple times for both Azure, Shade, no souls, full souls, etc. but I did not notice any others. Any possibility of messaging me hints or perhaps a list in regards to this?

Hi glad you liked the game. I agree some of the choices werenā€™t as meaningful as I liked (due to getting used to choicescript) It is something I hope to address in season two.

Humanity does have some more meaningful results not always new choices but sometimes it results in variations to scenes. Rather than put spoilers in this thread if youā€™re interested I can PM you the times humanity comes into play?

With the new game plus codes there are 3 codes for each possible monster you can choose to kill your family. Then there was another code unique to beta testers. There was a fifth code for surviving the meeting with Unit Gamma after telling them youā€™re an Unnatural, this was removed in one the later updates (for reasons I canā€™t remember - itā€™ll be readded to the game in the next update),

I hope these answer your questions.

regards

Matthew

Latest on the update;

My testers have said theyā€™ve found no more breaking errors and my changes to romances seem to be working fine too. Iā€™m just going over the new game plus codes and my planned achievements then Iā€™ll finally be able to submit the update. Currently in the updated version there are 5 codes to find and about 26 achievements.

Hi Matthew,

I found a bug in the game. I donā€™t know if you knew about it yet. I got it after getting to college without your childhood friend. When you meet Arthur for the first time it says the following:

Arthur turns and leaves the room, moments later, another man comes out and starts calling out names. While you wait, you stand besides $ {friend}. Her excitement is almost palpable.

ā€œWhat unit do you want to work with?ā€ Asks $ {friend}.

I liked the game, I played it several times mostly starting in Unit Beta for Denise is my favorite character. I do wonder were she went after the final evnt. You can choose to go find one of your teammates but Denise is not one of them, does that mean she died?
And one other thing I was wondering about is the romance, aside from the kiss there was no other scene, did I miss anything or will it continue in the second season?

I look forward to part two. Iā€™ll start working on some fanart soon, I really want to draw my MC and Denise being a badass team.

Yes that error is fixed in the current update

The update clears up what happens to Denise and the others depending on your choices. The update adds a few more additional scenes for the romance options as well.

Has the game been updated

Not yet Iā€™m working on the achievements now. Wonā€™t be much longer.

News on the update there will be 50 achievements I just need to settle on the points given for each one.

Very excited for the update.

Hmmmā€¦Iā€™ve never played this Hosted Game. Iā€™m debating whether or not I should wait for the new update or play it as is.

@LordObs i only can say is worth that cheap price and the writing is pretty good if u like dark themed games

i buyed it long time ago and im waiting for the update to replay it hehe
