Timeless: Lost Myths (WIP) [Mythological Fantasy | (97k words)

Current word count 97K words

Hi,

I like history, specifically Mesopotamian history, and I like angels. Those two facts together gave me an idea for a story I decided to try and write. What I have managed to write so far is a bit more linear than I’d like, but that is because my ability to code is abysmal. Honestly, there’s still a lot more work I could do, but I’m just posting it. Hope you like it.

Timeless is a story about the Earthly Angel (you). An immortal guardian who has watched over humanity since before memory. Across countless eras, from before the founding of the first cities to the fall of empires, you have been there. Through beauty and tragedy, through grief and loss, you endure.

And I’d enjoy hearing your thoughts :slightly_smiling_face:

Plot

Play as an ancient, winged warrior. Ages ago, an eldritch demon broke free from its prison, and like a shadow, it has eluded you ever since. Now, an old friend has crossed its path, and with their help, you may finally put it in its grave.

The world is not what it once was. Only echoes of mystery and ruin remain. Though their hidden temples stand empty, desolate, and their empires have crumbled. Would-be gods and those who believe themselves eternal still live, diminished, but not gone.

Yet even as the world struggles to move on, older things linger. Shadows from a forgotten epoch. Things once cast into darkness.

And because of you, one of them has escaped its pit.

For millennia, you have hunted it. Struck it down. Yet it always rises again, slipping through the cracks of history like a sickness. But now something has changed. Now it moves with purpose. It has found something, or someone, it desires.

And you are not the only one hunting it.

Romance Options

Danni/Danny.
Capable of taking the form of a great, they are lean and sharp-eyed, walking the fringes of human society, carrying themselves with the quiet confidence of a predator. Despite their place in the world, they are friendly and earnest, but beneath the easy grin is a wolf’s patience, a wolf’s bite.

Eithne MacTiernan
Severe and otherworldly, Eithne is a woman of deep roots and even deeper wounds, bound to both the grandeur and cruelty of the past. To the rare few who earn her trust, she is fiercely loyal, driven by an old, aching need to protect what little remains to her.

The MC

A forgotten guardian who has endured long past the era that birthed them. Charged by ancient decree, they fought on behalf of humanity, standing against the pantheons and old world powers that sought to rule in their own twisted regimes.

But immortality is a flame that consumes its light. None now live who remember those wars–deeds whispered in dead languages.

And humanity is not so helpless anymore.

… so MC can retire and finally have time to take care of themselves…
Eh, it’s never that easy, no?

It’s great start and I got hooked right away. I love that MC can fly - pretty unusual thing in interactive fiction. And even more so - descriptions of how MC actually flies. I think you did well here, same with gore descriptions. The monster hunt scene was epic ~ I could picture it in my head. In anime style :joy:
Good luck with your project.

Some little typos that caught my eye

A small update.

A brief tussle with Aag, and the introduction of Eithne.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to send messages and point out the typos. I know there are still plenty scattered throughout, and I haven’t fixed them yet, but I will.
