The Wight King(WIP) - Chapter 6 added (12/01/2023)

It’s good enough to try.

Violence is often inevitable, but in the end it is just another tool. How and why violence is used is what truly matters.

Violence is sometimes worth the lives it might save and the suffering it might prevent.

What’s the difference between a champion and a paragon?

Power, rather arbitrarily. Paragon is often the word used for champions who have grown too strong to truly be comparable with their former peers.

OK i have written a opinion here about the wip so far, just personal opinions, dont feel desmotivated or anything bad please,

Hmmmm playing this now, the start of the game seems long lines of texts to read without choices to keep the player engaged and interested, good reading is good, but not for so long, nothing bad just my personal preferency of a good read, giving people choices between pages is very entertainment,
But again i loved the way you write, Made me feel stronger and nice, specially at the start, when everyone and everything reacted to you, was epic, I always love playing characters that are not human but other beings but that stills looks similar to human,
Be it Angels, Demons, kitsunes and is specially nice when the characters react to you
more if they are humans, if that makes sense, just as you write in the intro the way they reacted to you, giving them life and personality, giving choice to be merciful is always nice ^^ !!! giving person more choices is always nice, giving the choice
who you want to be,

The Start fight with paladin was a pleasure ^^ !!! its rare to fight paladins, Specially morally good ones, despit being a little too long,
keep me from doing chores need done in my house, há XD !!! It took me around 5 minutes to choose the aura, which is awesome becasuse of nice choices, I miss the golden/Yellow option though but i understand the divine aspect associated with these colors XD !!!
but after you take all those and being in general a evil entity that made me lost interest in the game, unless there is a path
where you dont keep absorving souls, like a path of redemption, Like a Recently awakened Sith but discovered he dont want be evil anymore,
and instead something new or different something he chooses to be, for me personally that would be incredible,
(Unless you alredy planned that of course)

Small critic is larges amounts of text with just descriptions but nothing in general happening, its little tiring read pages of pages of just descriptions, personally, and most powers the character uses is narrative and not earned or learned by the player, not requiring player intervention,
making a pure lore wise instead of gameplay, while is good in book history sense is bad game sense, leaving player feeling more disconnected with their
characters and feeling empty,

After the chapter 1, really bogged down, i felt like was truly more like reading a book instead of participate in it, like you have no control over almost nothing, just following the protagonist and reading what
he does and what he is doing but having nothing to with it… felt bad and struggle to continue reading, in the end i decided to stop after chapter 3, i see the deep of the history but was not for me in the end and haved a lot of fun playing chapter 1, must be because i felt like my choices mattered the way i act against the templars, trying not kill many of them if possible and being rewarded by sparing them specially annie and the paladin reaction to this.

I agree not alit of choices but the story has to be fleshed out somehow I believe in later chapters you’ll get to see the action your craving my friend but this isn’t a story where the bad guy turns good and learns about humanity and all that we’re straight war machine taking on all the lands any and all comers get this smoke lol

I haven’t been a bad guy at all so far

This isn’t going to be a story that decides for you what you are meant to be, or what you should make of the powers you’re invested with.

What you make of yourself and your powers will define your role in this story.

Conqueror, tyrant, savior, liberator, butcher or protector, you’ll carve the path you feel is right.

I think there is potential here to have unique interaction like act like MC doesn’t care but actually care, which I think fit MC quite nicely.

Or MC doesn’t really care but because certain character do care MC change their mind because they feel indebted.

Or acting aloof and entitled like princess but just like princess do she do care about her subject.

Or acting like possesive spoiled kid that enjoy messing around with people but doesn’t like when someone else toying with them.

There is also possibility that you might acting like you’re the bully but does not accept that someone else bullying your victim, like having some twisted sense of love.

I dunno the dynamic open alot of alternative.

Yes there will definitely be many shades of rulership. Being a tyrant doesn’t have to make you a cruel megalomaniac, just as being protector doesn’t mean your intentions are necessarily good.

Manipulation and trickery can play a big part into how you interact with other characters or the people who serve you. And your actions sometimes belie your intentions.

“Evil” paths take many form from the mindlessly destructive to the machiavelical, nuance can make important distinction between them. And it is so for “good” paths as well.

I want to insist that this isn’t “bad guy” or “redemption” simulator, but both and everything in between.

I like to think things will rarely be as simple as a clear cut choice between good and bad, because I want this book to be way more than this, and to thoroughly explore the concept.

Oh I enjoyed this immensely. It feels like playing a DnD campaign. A grim one, which is my favorite kind, incidentally. Also, I wanna kick more templar ass :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Thanks! I’m glad to see you here!

That doesn’t surprise me at all, considering the things you write.

Oh yeah, that’s a guarantee. I think all the time about the future fights with named templars and paladins, I’m excited to get there.

Well it’s actually bc I was creeping on the profiles of commenters, as you do, and then I was like “hold up, this sounds rly cool”, and now here I am. [I swear I’m not a stalker, I just like to reread friendly comments when I need a mood lift. So that’s how that happened.] So now I’m doubly flattered bc you said you liked what I’m working on and you’re a talented writer yourself! So it feels twice as good lol.

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised by the grim darkness in this. Especially the mention of “purification” tripped me up, and then I was like “omg it’s really going there, isn’t it” and yep, it’s going there. And the portion with the hanging tree people reads like a poem??? It’s so good?? It’s like, poetically gruesome. Which counts for the whole IF, btw. “It falls over you like a shroud” when choosing the aura was one of my favorite examples of this. I mean it’s so pretty. And when you meet the others it’s just such a DnD campaign vibe, I love it sm. “Want a kiss” was awesome. Btw, I’m very very very excited to potentially meet Asterius again. (Swordfighting is just a way to express affection in my opinion.)
