Are their any factions/kingdoms willing to ally/work with us to achieve a mutual goal or are we basically chaos and everyone wants us destroyed?
I thought Kriegsgard was just a country of pillar men.
Come to think of it do any countries regularly burn their dead? Or famous heroes with mysteriously missing corpses?
Ooh let me guess, vampiric clowns who worship chaos? Who may be dark elves?
The clowns are nothing but ULTIMATE EVIL! They wanna become the dominant species on the planet, and they’ll DESTROY US ALL to make it happen!
It’s not so simple, you’re not a legitimate nation, at best you could be considered a barbarian invader, and that’s a mild way of putting it, considering you’re more of a steamroller, an undead steamroller. I think any kind of alliance or cooperation is not exactly on the table right now. You’re getting ahead of yourself.
It depends on the country. Different people have different traditions. And it also depends on the circumstances. Burning is not universal. And depending on a few factors, you could have your corpse enshrined in a holy tomb or tossed in a ditch for the crows.
Can’t argue with that.
We’re gonna get slammed into a teen on steroids while time is stopped by a vampire who spells his name in all caps?
You’d think they be more careful given that the dead still walk the earth.
Are there any nation’s where “dark” magic is more normal?
I am guessing the demons in the underworld won’t be showing up in this book or they won’t want to work with us.

You thought no one would notice, didn’t you ![]()
Would seem foolish of a ruler to pass up on an opportunity to gain a powerful external force unaffiliated from other countries? Are there none of them willing to risk it, considering how much of an edge it would give?
Of course idk if a Wight King would agree to such a plan, but it seems like a tactically sound move to ally with a power and use as leverage against them later. Do countries have a deep hatred of undead that is too strong to overcome such an agreement? A kind of no-undead policy? (Haha sounds like something on a sign outside of a bar) Or maybe the reputation of Wight Kings is too well known?
I’m at a loss for words. I don’t really like supernatural stories but man this was absolutely epic. The fight scenes, descriptions of the surroundings, colorful dialog options it’s just so good. Great writing I’m definitely looking forward for more updates
Everyday we undead suffer under unprecedented and unjust oppression. We’re segregrated off from the cities and villages and expect to unlive in the wilds. We can’t go to the same schools. I, the Wight King, have a dream! We’ll become gang stars. And then every man woman and child shall not be judged by their state of living, but by the content of their character.
Honestly wondering about the dark elve’s, I mean aren’t they chaos friendly buddies of ours? And don’t forget the night clowns!
I don’t think Wight King’s would be known to well ( at least if it’s been a while since the previous one) by the majority of people maybe scholars and wizards might know something’s about them I would expect paladins and maybe the Templar order to know about us.
I’ve always had a problem with fantasy worlds in which everyone seems to know about everything, even the most foreign, obscure stuff, but you don’t. It feels very disingenuous.
So the thing is, most people just know undead through tall tales, especially since the paladins managed to wipe out an extreme amount of undead and undead threat, as far as the paladins are concerned, they believe they’ve killed the last living necromancer. Most people don’t know how undeath works, how to avoid it, most people don’t even think about it. Just as some backwater farming village’s denizen probably wouldn’t be able to tell you a thing about magic, because he never even experienced it for himself.
There are too few undead left in the world in these times for the common folks to really consider them a threat anymore. And therefore they don’t actively fight the risks of more undead in the future. It’s just that the people of Shinra are like all humans, short-sighted and not the type to learn their lesson.
Not officialy, you don’t want to get a team of blackstaves knocking on your door for playing with such forces, no matter who you are, but behind closed doors some people like the dark elves make extensive use of it. The wastelands are also full of people with objectionable practices.
Hell isn’t the same as the Underworld here. The Underworld really is just that, the underground. But some would argue it’s worse than hell.
Well they don’t know that. You might be powerful but you’re a loose cannon, an undead to boot. The benefits just aren’t high enough for the risks of working with the enemy. By the time the great empires learn about you, you’ll be a huge threat. And they aren’t pushovers either, they don’t NEED your help.
Eh. Not so much really. The geo-political context just isn’t right for that. If they were desperate, maybe, otherwise they won’t bother.
I’m really glad you liked it.
There’s no overarching common allegiance in this world. Orks and dark elves won’t get along just because they are closer to chaos than most. Everyone is a victim and a vessel of chaos, elves, humans, orks, every single living being is subjected to it. And the Night Clowns… boy they’re a piece of work. And I’m very afraid this is gonna be their name on this forum from now on.
Knowledge of the Wight King is rare and often forgotten, but the legend persists in old tales. The people who even know about the curse can be counted on one hand. The people who know about the Wight King, and how it seems to come back again and again are more numerous, but their knowledge is very limited, they just don’t understand it. But the facts are still the same, there’s an extremely powerful undead that appears perodically, and we don’t know what to do about it at all.
Can we get skeletal war elephants because that seems like it could have some uses and they wouldn’t have some of the weaknesses as a living war elephant like sharp spikes on the ground, loud noises scaring them and rampaging threw their allies or a pig that has been set on fire.
And my personal favorite part they can be referred to as skelephants
That’s why we’re constantly amnesiac and poor educated. How else do we start at level 1?
So it’s rare? Is it like your born with a talent for it and can’t use it otherwise?
Ah. I’m surprised that all the nation’s had such a common view on it, or developed communication. I expected at least one to practice it as it’s always been a part of their life. Of course then they’d get invaded and no one would step in to help the heathens.
Blackstaves?
Wasteland?
Listen Wightey, I love you like a brother but my hands are a tied. You’re a loose cannon, a loose cannon! We can’t have you haphazardly messing with forces beyond our understanding!
As long as they don’t worship doors they’re good in my book.
Are there any immortals/long lived individuals running around who have had experience with a previous king?
For whatever reason every time I’ve seen Clown pop up in this thread makes me think of how the Dwarf fortress community refers to demons as clowns and he’ll as the circus
Could we hire or intimidate bandits into working for us?
You can also get your teeth kicked in and your stuff stolen. Can’t have nice things in Arkadia.
It’s rare because necromancy is a form of dark magic, and it’s hard to learn. Anyone could become a necromancer if they have magical affinity in the first place. But there are a lot of factors that act in how powerful of a necromancer you are, someone that has a greater understanding of death will be a better necromancer. You also need someone to teach you, the likelihood of you spontaneously finding out ways to use necromancy is extremely low.
It’s just that dark magic is inherently dangerous and creates a lot of problems. It’s a high risks high rewards kind of magic. It’s also repugnant by nature, it’s not evil per se, but the consequences of using it are often too high to ignore. Having a few dark magic users running amok in your kingdom could be fine, but if you have fifty of them spreading dark magic around, you’ve got problems.
There was a time when dark magic was rampant, necromancers and the like were revered like gods by some of their people. And something happened, several things happened, all bad.
They are in a sense, the Tower of Grey’s spec ops. They are a cell of elite mages trained within the tower in a section we call the Black Ward. They’re trained in magic of course, but are more specialized than any wizard and on top of that they are trained harsher than any mage, close combat, intelligence, interrogation, magic interdiction and containment… They are the most trusted and competent agents of the Tower.
Their missions are numerous but the things they deal with most often are rogue magic users. Wizards that betrayed the tower, young sorcerers who lost control and unleashed their power, people who sell illegal enchanted items or artefacts, cults and criminal groups centered around magic and dark magic… Sometimes also more covert and less… legal operations.
Blackstaves are their nickname, because of their founder and their tradition of using black materials to craft their magical focuses.
Some regions of this world are so ravaged almost nothing can live there.
Well, the wight knights for one. And there likely are still people who remember at least one Wight King, but they won’t necessarily be in the story. For example, some dragons were there to see Wight Kings, but it’s not like they’re going to tell anyone. They’d watch humanity get slaughtered without lifting a finger. They might even enjoy it considering some of them are survivors of the Dracomachia.
You could. Among the mortals who might join you there will be bandits.
Or all the times you wake up in prison… Nevermind all the times you lose everything in the sequels.
Has anyone been resurrected?
What are the types of dark magic?
So we have the inquisition cracking down too.
Video games are centered around gameplay, so it’s understandable that they take liberties. I’d rather have the feeling of growth by starting over than feeling stagnation by being the exact same as in the last game. Especially considering that means you’ll take over your character that had already reached the peak of power in the last game.
Personally, I don’t find it frustrating, except when it’s exceptionally stupid.
Resurrection is possible, but it must be done immediately after death. And the later you do it, the more is lost. Resurrection is incredibly taxing, you’ll lose some memories, it will significantly drain your mental and physical abilities for a long time.
There are different methods of resurrection. It can’t be done through necromancy, not exactly, you can bring someone back right after death, but even then they’ll become a husk or at least they’re likely doomed to become one. Priests and clerics can do it through miracles, but it’s incredibly taxing for them as well, resurrecting someone would gut your ability to cast miracles for a long while, with all the consequences I talked about for the target.
Well, I can’t really give you a list, it would be long and incomplete. The prime example is necromancy, about half of witchcraft is also about dark magic including curses, and you also have quite a few other forms of magic that are twisted into dark magic.
There’s about as much to talk about with dark magic than there is for regular magic.
So how do you think the truth is going to handle us are they going to send scrubs like a comedy Duo first after we beat all the scrubs then they finally send their Elite The Best of the Best I feel like I got into this very much now🤭
i don’t know a scrub is a guy who cant get no love from me… ![]()
