For everyone’s sake, we better hope they stay lonely.

It depends. Though I can give you the stance of the government. (Implying that the people is not necessarily agreeing with them)

The golden dwarves, the original empire of the dwarves are extremely isolationist, they consider that dwarves should stay among dwarves and that those of the surface should stay among themselves. They consider that the surface dwellers are tainted and will bring ruin to the dwarven race and are unworthy of even seeing the walls of the forbidden city.

The civil war that split the dwarven race apart made two other factions, the Iron Domain of the Dwarves and the Copper Nomads.

The Iron Domain is distrustful of strangers, but they still accept brief stays into their cities, they trade with other nations and sometimes even lend their help. But they are very serious about staying independent, completely independent. Unlike the golden dwarves, if you do something to draw their ire, they won’t stop at the exit to the surface, they’ve shown themselves more than willing to lay waste to enitre duchies to get back at the people who thought they could get away with a serious slight against them.

The Copper Nomads are traders, mercenaries and craftsmen of all sorts. By their nature they’re less of a nation and more of a company or a very large guild. They have caravans all over the world, meeting regularly to make big decisions. They’re the most open of the dwarves, but also the least reliable. They are very chaotic and one caravan might be jolly, wholesome, honest traders while another might be full of greedy swindlers, slavers, highwaymen and bandits posturing as mercenaries. You never know what to expect when you hear a Copper Caravan is coming your way. They have a few “free cities” on the continent or big trading districts in some cities.

I feel like “it depends” is becoming my catchphrase, but it depends. You’ll probably meet more exotic species eventually, but Arkadia is already dense and complex, so even if the story focuses more on the classic species I think you’ll see your share of interesting things with humans, undead, elves, and pals.

Ah, the universe will never be done trying to kill me. I almost died the very day I was born. If that’s the not a sign the universe wants you dead what is?

As for changes, I make some all the time. Half of my waking hours are me thinking about my world, making stories play in my head and altering things, or adding things to the lore. Most of that is still in my head though. There are things I still need to think more about.

if the Wight King was to take over the kingdoms of the living and left the living alive mostly and being fair and reasonable would traders from the nation be allowed to trade with the Iron Domain or would they be entirely opposed to dealing with a nation lead by and undead

Trying before you’re born?

Dwarven vampires? Dwarven Bobs? Elvish Bob’s? :astonished: Bob Bobs?!

How much body hair does each race have?

Aren’t those guys usually the friendliest?

Ice cream?

Anyway so gods need prayer, old ones don’t… demon Lord’s don’t… How come Gods seem the weakest in this totem pole?

What made the world again?

The Iron Domain wouldn’t send trade convoy to faraway nations, high risks, low reward. And if they don’t trust words in general, they trust actions, so show yourself to be trustworthy and they might offer you to trade. If you were close enough to trade, then they might do it even though you are undead, but you would need to do more than a human kingdom to prove yourself because undead are inherently untrustworthy in the eyes of other races.

This is not a competition!

Dwarves are hard to make into undead, because of their resistances. So dwarven vampires are a very rare sight, especially since vampires aren’t really doing too hot either.

Bob is a lie!

The Legion is VERY friendly, still wouldn’t recommend the experience.

Well, Old Ones ARE stronger than gods and demons united. They’re just on an entirely different level.

About gods “needing” prayer it’s actually more complicated than that. Prayer and religious rituals strengthen them, but it’s more of a passive thing, it doesn’t directly make them stronger. Gundhyr hated prayers and rituals and forbade his people to dedicate them to him, and yet he was renowned as the most dangerous and powerful god of that time.

The title of god is more subjective in this world than it is in ours. The distinction between god and mortal is pretty hard to make at times. There are gods who were entirely spiritual with no physical presence, others who have a mortal incarnation they inhabit until the death of the host after which they find a new avatar, some gods ARE their living avatar in the mortal world… For example, gods that are entirely spiritual would be much more reliant on their followers and be made much more powerful from their devotion, while more physical gods would not need to rely on followers as much, or at all.

So in this universe “god” is about as vague and hard to define as demons or spirits are because they exist in all forms and shape. Hey, sometimes simple demons are treated as gods.

Chaos

Many dark elves are born with a demonic trait or two. For example if your dark elf parent had fangs and horns, it’s likely you too will be born with fangs and horns. And in general you’ll inherit a strange skin, eye or hair color.

So like the Warhammer fantasy Dwarves who would attack a dutchy for being a few coins short when paying them? Or more like insulting dwarven kind in general?

Not for a few coins. The iron dwarves aren’t petty, though they would still be very displeased if they find out that you tried to swipe a few coins under the counter discretely, they’ll take it back and stop business with you entirely, sometimes even favoring your rivals or enemies in revenge.

But for example, if a duke was to think it’s unfair that the Iron Domain won’t trade with him, and was to have the brilliant idea of making an example to get the dwarves to comply. Things would get nasty. If the duke was a sore sight to the dwarves in the first place, they’ll lead a punitive expedition to erase that duchy off the map entirely.

Iron Dwarves aren’t petty, but they’re vengeful, and often extreme in their methods. They won’t harm civilians unless it’s necessary, but you, your family, your army, your land and everything that belongs to you might be gone in an afternoon. Dwarves are excellent sappers so sieges don’t last long, they have unground ways to travel fast and their army, while small is terrifyingly powerful and well-equipped.

But while they’re prone to getting revenge in extreme ways, they’re still reasonable, if what you did was worthy of their anger but not entirely despicable, a sincere apology and repaying them in some way can be enough to soothe them. If you repay them, they might forget and forgive what you did entirely even, because they value honesty, integrity and the sense of duty above many other things.

Well I was gonna be an elf but then you mentioned how awesome female orks hair is and you sealed my gate of being a green skin…speaking of which do works have different looks and colors?

Yeah, pure orks have different shades of black hair, though rarely they can also have a different hair color (half-orks can have any hair color). Depending on the clan they come from, their skin can be different shades of green, brown, sand, grey, black, sometimes lilac or red, and rarely ivory.

Can you tell about the mutants and how they are created or born

orks are born from the swamps and hatred of evil monkeys sitting on elephants
wood elves grow on trees
high elves grow out of the ground with a stick [obscenities detected]
dark elves are born of spiders and fey
All Dwarves are forged and then cool in a tax collectors tears
mutants are born from spartans.

Basically chaos corruption. When you’re exposed for too long to chaos unprotected, you risk mutation because the corruption of chaos accumulates in your body. Mutations can take a number of forms, but depend heavily on the context in which you’ve been exposed. For example if you were exposed in the deep woods, it’s likely that your mutation will be animal in nature. Mutations can be minor or major, ranging from a simple change in your hair color to becoming a monster yourself. Though sometimes a too high level of corruption might just kill you or render you gravely ill or wounded, especially if you are weak.

Mutations can happen outside of places where the chaotic corruption is at a critical level, but they are extremely rare and usually only happen to newborns. That is unless a chaos storm is happening, in case of chaos storm, the chaotic corruption reaches high level even in cities and villages and unless you are protected against it, you might be corrupted and mutate.

Humans are weak to chaos, and are more likely to mutate than most species. Chaos storms are especially feared by mankind and chaos corruption in general.

Hey, that’s absolutely wrong! The monkeys were not evil, only mildly upset!

My mistake on the monkey part… :innocent:

Are undeads suceptible to these mutations aswell? Or do they get affected in some other way if at all?

The short answer is no. But it’s actually more complicated than that. And I’m not sure how to explain it in a way that won’t hint at some of the things you’ll read in the game.

Let’s say that undead by nature are not subjected to chaos in the same way as the living.
