The Wight King(WIP) - Chapter 6 added (12/01/2023)

cute youngling dragons will at least be comforting to hide near. at least it will give pause to the author and the mc for a moment.

welcome to the thin layer of safety…like a suit of chain-mail protecting against a howitzer shelling.

Not all of us have the powers of the eldrich to aid us, my friend, and honestly, not even that will be able to save ye if @bl00dragon goes postal with this new chaotic invention, whatever it is, it cannot be good.

Also, @bl00dragon , now that I know that sabres are probably out of the menu, what about a power sword like this one http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/warhammer40k/images/b/b1/IG_Power_Sword.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140105000840 it is basically a sabre on steroids, the finesse and deadliness of a sabre with the “robust” build, that should make it more “fitting” for someone like the WK, oh and by the way, try not to kill us all with whatever little nightmare of a weapon you are forging down there!

that feels like it could be classified as a exotic Greatsword.

the great forges in the distance are alight turning the skies over the great mountain forge a eerie orange-ish grey

See! it has the best of all worlds, style, range, power, and more importantly, it is technically lore-friendly.

I fell like I have heard that somewhere.

The funniest part about all this is how fast people jumped unto the wagon of dropping suggestions (I know, I was one of them myself…) even though bl00dragon never officially asked for it. He said he was thinking about adding one more (maybe he already had one in mind?) and boom… the floodgates opened.

Well we all love this game and want to contribute. I choose to believe this to be 102% absolute fact.
Release the gates!

Could we possibly have a war hammer?

Because of my DnD barbarian going slasher during the Halloween campaign on the rest of the party I would like to suggest a hook weapon so I can go Dying By Daylight on my enemies.

It’s not like you’ll find one just lying around. Also, it’s kind of overkill to cleave people in two and then set them on fire.

Nuh. I’m not giving anyone the finger.

The problem with crossbows is that their power is limited by the materials, techniques and technologies involved, as well as eventual enchantments. So if you get a regular hand crossbow it won’t be very powerful. Enough for unarmored humans and small beasts, but it won’t get through plate or the hides of monsters. For someone like the Wight King, something that relies on your own strength will almost always be better.

Alchemical bombs are not very rare but they are volatile and best handled by someone who know what they’re doing. Using them is always dodgy, and just carrying one can makes things go terribly wrong if something unforeseen happens.

Well, the problem with spears is that I don’t really see what advantages they have over other champion weapons. The haft is long, so you have a good range, but as soon as your enemy gets close you can’t use it anymore, you can’t really slash with it either. While it can be very deadly, it’s not the best. The spear seems to me like a very situational weapon.

I can see champions using spear-like weapons, if the spear was modified. A tough shaft and a much longer blade. Something more like a partizan would do the trick.

I’m not saying it’s impossible for a champion to choose a spear, or hell even a pike, but it would be a very specific fighting style.

Luckily, I think I’ve found a way to incorporate something like that in a way that won’t make me pull my hair out in frustration once I need to write fight scenes. So it’s very possible.

The greatsword in my head for the Wight King is kind of an odd design. An elegant blade that bends very slightly as you attack, far tougher than it looks and with so much reach you’ll poke a spearman in the eye before he even pull his weapon out.

Oh… no… not at all… :slightly_smiling_face:

Come on, I’m not that evil. Reminds himself of all the shit he puts his characters through. Uh…

Author:
Yes, soft scales will make for a fetching dress for the red baroness.

That’s… isn’t that just a falchion? Without the “power” shenanigans, it just looks like your typical falchion, one-handed curved blade. Or a very big knife.

I’m Sauron now? XD

That was all my cunning plan! It was a deception!

Nah, I was just sure there would be suggestions if I left an open space. It’s good, gives me ideas.

Hmm. Not really. I think you should imagine something like Minas Tirith, just as big but the entire thing is one citadel. And most of it is ruined.

One of the important characters in the story uses a huge maul as his weapon. And I liked the idea of the eveningstar better so adding another blunt weapon felt a bit too same-ish to me.

Well, the Great Beak feels pretty hooky to me. Maybe as a secondary I’ll add a hook and chain or some kind of grappling hook, because the Wight King going “GET OVER HERE!” feels extremely satisfying to me.

Another character uses a butcher’s hook attached to a chain and a cleaver as their weapons of choice.

Also

Is that the bootleg Dead by Daylight? XD

This is encouraging news. If the dual blades do not work, I’m leaning towards the greataxe. I might go for that anyways.

Since there are no dragons where the game takes place are there wyverns or Drake’s (if they aren’t the same thing) are hydras a thing or basilisk ?

There is no such thing as too much overkill

No such thing as overkill!

Edit: @CultOfCthulhu agrees with me!

Well apparently I was thinking of 2 different games at once

Edit: It was Dying Light and Dead by Daylight that’s what I mixed up

Hey, the greataxe is still a great choice.

The degenerate spawn of the dragons are all over the continent. Drakes and wyverns are present in almost every region, in different forms. Hydras are a rarer breed, mostly in swamps. I don’t know about basilisks yet.

So, firstly, your wyverns are the classic D&D style? with the stinger and poisonous meat, or is it more of a Skyrim styled wyvern without the smarty bits and crazy magic, also, are leviathans a thing in your world?
Also, what are thy opinions upon these weird weapons I found around the webway: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/91/a9/58/91a958045b3b9ed26036d98352fd5bef.jpg

Also, about a buzz axe from borderlands?

A good ol’ axe is always an option

Don’t particularly like the first weapon nor the scorpion tail sword the axe looks weird but nothing to bad and the vampire gauntlet reminds me or cao rens weapon in dynasty warriors.
