Thank you!
I’m still in full LT inferno. I think my detective is ready to Gibbs slap Adam. Hard.
The suffering is delicious, and real. I already find myself suffering thinking of replaying it all for the save import to book 3!
And I really need to play the Nate route after this. The guy deserve it.
Finally managed to purchase the game and I just finished my first playthrough with A, which is my original RO since the first book. I want to praise the author for how well written this book is, the wordings, the descriptions, the writing its just great! I’m looking forward for the next book. I’m kinda disappointed with A’s path though, too much staring, too much stopping, I know it’s a big slowburn but at least I wanted more, maybe at least a true confession, I don’t consider the Latin conversation so I wish we at least achieved that. Otherwise, this is a very good book and it’s in my Top 5 favorite COG/HG book
Also all this time I believed that A is the most popular RO considering the stuffs I’ve seen in Tumblr, but looks like it’s actually M and I’m wrong
My F would like to have a word with you, sir
@AwkwardNature sounds like you will like the LT route then
So does my N. He may be just behind A right now, but was front runner in B1.
Sooo … let’s see how that race goes in B3 and B4 and 5 …
Yeah N was my first pick, but A took over
A has always been my first choice.
He’s still my first choice and considering that all the stuff in book 2 happens in just a month I really don’t think the pace was too slow
Mason is my second choice and, unpopular opinion here, I don’t really like A. I guess it’s because most of the men in my life are emotionally constipated and so was my fiancé (for almost a year before I managed to break through his walls! Phewww, talk about being persistent lol) and I’m just tired of it. It’s nice to be with someone who is immediately honest and open about how they feel, at least in a game hahah.
A was the first route I ever played, but N is my absolute favourite. I like the pining and the angst that comes from A’s route, but I’m a sucker for the genuinely nice LI’s like N. I think in most media authors tend to drop the ball with the LIs who are nice and easygoing from the get-go (by making them ‘boring’ or too mellow), but I think Sera has done a great job with N. N’s nice, but they’re not dull, and I think there’s just enough angst being hinted at in their backstory to build intrigue for future books.
Exactly!
What makes me sad is that casual players probably don’t even want to try N’s route thinking that they’re just another boring, nice character without substance
And that’s absolutely not true! There are so many layers to their personality! They’re „nice” yeah, but also very suave and sexy and their backstory might prove to be the most angsty of them all. And there are also the small nuances like the fact that calling them perfect makes them uncomfortable etc.
I also like the fact that they are very protective of the MC, but not in the overbearing, “you are not able/skilled enough to protect yourself” way? It’s lovely.
I don’t think you should assume so much about those who aren’t into N’s romance. Personally, I find N a bit too syrupy. I made a MC specifically for a Nate playthrough, and although the MC enjoys it, it’s just not my cup of tea.
The same goes for A, who is just… well, I don’t mind slow burn as much when there’s a reason (enemies to lovers, and stuff like that), but the overwrought way A responds to everything is cringe worthy for me. That said, I’ve made two radically different MCs for the A route, to see if I can find a palatable way to approach that romance (the MC I originally put with Adam was done with him by the walk through the woods in the demo). If nothing else, I’ve at least found it comical just how emotionally constipated A is.
My favorite routes to read are M & F (which surprises me because in book 1, I felt like I was reading about an adult trying to hook up with a child in the F route, but book 2 won me over to his route). I like them for different reasons, but both of them are honest about what they want, and aren’t gun shy about going after it. A is too annoyingly resistant to anything with the MC and N… well, N is just too damned soft for me to enjoy it. The LT is painful to read, but honestly I like A better in it than in his own path.
But that’s the thing about TWC (and CoG games like it)–different people have different tastes, so they like the LIs that fit what they (and their MCs) prefer. There’s really no right or wrong answer for it because it’s personal taste. And we’re lucky enough to have enough options to appeal to everyone.
Absolutely! I understand that N might not be everyone’s cup of tea. People have different preferences and that’s alright. That’s why we have 4 romance options to choose from
What I meant is that some people might not even try N’s route thinking that it’s just another nice character. And that some of them might be genuinely and pleasantly surprised if they do decide to try it.
And I agree with everything that you said about A, btw!
Yeaahh, A used to be my fave because the pining from the get-go was just deliciously painful, and M was a BIT too hot/cold for me (even though when they were hot they were REALLY hot) but… M’s route in book two is just… chef’s kiss all around perfect for me. Specifically the pacing. I like that it’s mostly physical at first and then they’ll realize later that there’s Feelings. And that you can already see those feelings developing on M’s side even though they are too oblivious to realize. A’s route is really good too I just like M’s a bit more.
In order of favouritsm.
LT:
The LT is my favourite, because I feel
,and
,but also some
,with a pinch of
.
M:
This is followed closely by M.I have two versions of my M route:sex and “not if it won’t mean anything”.The former is
,but the latter is more fun to me in some ways.I can’t really explain why,I just enjoy it(fractionally)more.
A:
This was my 2nd favourite route in book 1,but M got so much better,so A has been relegated.I don’t why,but A’s emotional constipation is very endearing to me.Like before,I don’t know why.
N:
I haven’t done N,because I like her in the LT,just because the contrast between her and Ava is just perfect, but I think she would be too sweet for me on the N route.I don’t really have much more to say about her.
F:
I haven’t done F,because in every other playthrough, she was my best friend, and I think all the things that make her a great best friend, take away from her LI potential.(Does that make sense?)
I agree with you on F. I have a hard time with him because I just get such a friend vibe from him that, while I like how cute (and even, dare I say, spicy) that route can get, it still feels kind of like dating your BFF (even though the only route where M isn’t my BFF is when I’m romancing him lol). So F is definitely my least favorite romance but I still looooooooove them so much.
I love all the RO’s so damn much but something about M’s full loyalty towards the MC and their deep romance (from Mishka’s answers) just hits so much different and harder!!
M and A are my primary routes for this series, it seems. M comes first place, then A.
LT is… non-canon, AU, purely for indulging my inner glass-eating drama-humper.
Then there are N and F. And they are… not sure how to express it… just not for me. There is literally zero chemistry. They are sweet and all, but… Friend-zoned, pretty sure for the rest of the series.
The LT breaks my heart, especially since N and A are so close I’m scared on the later reaction.
I urge you all to at least try F’s route. You may be surprised-- I certainly was. For me, Farah is a perfect, comfortable, warm follow-up to the LT-- playing her route is like a bubble bath after a storm.
At the very least, you’ll get more content in the BFF routes under F’s path!
I’ll give it shot.
