The Sword of Rhivenia (Remake) (DEMO UPDATED 02/10)

I have literally listed another two allies your country has, and we’ve just had the rulers of both attend out coronation and confirmed their support for you. Lena is the only one who appears flakey, and she is just our vassal. So not exactly on kingdom level in terms of military contributions.

My point was that Marania was already independent country which you had no alliance with, this is not some kind of new development that’d make you lose strength relative to what you’ve had. And in that exact same situation (no alliance with Marania) nobody in game was running around in panic how without Marania our country is bound to lose a war for sure, omg. Charles least of all, while he did reach out to them he was also pretty quick to go “well, fuck you too” when things initially weren’t looking any good in terms of deal making. Neither is there any real concern about other supposed independent kingdoms, given how no one talks we should be trying to get them under Rhivenia’s banner.

So all this doom and gloom about there being no other outcome for MC but to lose for sure? It really doesn’t seem to be shared by actual Rhivenians.

The way I understand things, Rhivenia isn’t like the Iudian Empire in Shattered Eagle.

We are stable, wealth hasn’t been mentioned to be lacking, we have a sizeable military and we have loyal vassals.

I wouldn’t worry about Lena. This is the only time she will have the guts to actually try and rise up and that is NOT because of her having in any way, shape or form a competitive army. She has bowmen, sure but that’s all we know.

She is willing to press demands purely for the fact that she knows Rhivenia will enter a war either way, the difference being whether we fight on one front or two. If Rhivenia enters a war with two fronts, things will be unstable. If Rhivenia just fights on one front, their forces and resources are much more consolidated and the war becomes a lot more easier to handle.

If, for example Rhivenia and the MC were to win the Southern kingdoms and Asinea in a two front war (something only an idiot would let happen), Asinea would fall in line quickly. Lena knows she cannot win one-on-one against Rhivenia.

So, for all who are stressed that Lena is an actual threat alone, you needn’t worry. She’s a buff - great to have for yourself and bad to be against if you have another opponent.

I’m really enjoying the rewrite so far. One question though, at some point will you add a list of name suggestions for the dog, sword and horse? I suck at coming up with names lol

Also a thought I had, in one run I named my horse Freya for a laugh. But it would be cool if using certain names got a reaction from people.

I mean, if those got name suggestions, I’d appreciate the MC to get them too.

Lena is so arrogant!!! I hate her. I love her.

Now I try to be a reasonable person when it comes to forging alliances and ruling fairly since everyone else is thinking with their heart (or other body parts better left unmentioned) and war is certainly, but Lena’s arrogance made me reload a save and pick less diplomatic options strictly to undermine her. Frankly, I don’t know what that says about me that being looked down on in an internal monologue can make me immediately drop any sense of rationality and reason, but pissing her off certainly feels worth it in the short term. Gotta curb my ego before I end up like Charlie Brown

Consider this: We can get a little bit of innocent, harmless revenge when we’re romancing her if we’re able to top her during spicy scenes.
Plus she also probably thinks that way because she thinks we’ve likely treated her brother like sh*t while he was a political prisoner under our custody, so a little hatred towards us is reasonable.

I like the way you think.

So Rhivenia can face its enemies on the south side with his north ally ?

If i read correctly the south side with erwan aren’t only compose with one kingdom. Though they are smaller.

Yeah, since Rhivenia has at least two allied kingdoms of their own, i figure the outcome of the war is in the air. Like, if it was a guaranteed loss for Rhivenia in such conditions, when you also didn’t have Marania as ally etc, then it’s not like those southern kingdoms had any reason not to start the war earlier, without their “chosen by a god” figurehead.

I LOVE how everybody’s just theorizing something between Astryn and Lena, if they’re in cahoots or not, meanwhile my ass here is planning on romancing them both as soon as possible :joy: i need therapy i know this.

Me out here prioritizing the enemies before the kingdom:

I just know Charlie Brown is staring up at us (let’s all be real, he didn’t go to heaven) with disappointment for choosing the worst people to romance.

And I will return his disappointed stare with a shit-eating grin and not a care in the world. :face_with_tongue:

Between one of his wives poisoning the other, and the other completely ruining her own son’s mental state for her own benefit, i don’t feel like Charles has much room to complain about MC’s affinity for red flags…

…what is Rhivenia’s flag, anyway?

I imagine probably blue and with a skull on it?

“Are we the baddies, Hans?”

I think that regardless of what our stance is on how much we want the throne, the chosen will undoubtedly have their own faction of folks who are loyal to the sword’s choice regardless of who that choice is. So, if a civil war does break out and we decide to pack it up, I’m pretty sure the kingdom is cooked either way because I believe the sword loyalists make up a notable number of the population.
