Anything can happen yes, but thats how life goes. At least she’d get a chance to actually live one instead of resigned to one fate of dying. Plus she does live for a long time with you anyway.

Don’t worry too much… surely there aren’t that many lunatic in the world :-)

Anyway…a 2nd chance of life is precious, especially when there are so many things Chloe could do with MC , they could perform many more shows together and go travelling to far away places now that she doesn’t need to worry about her health too much

I let Chloe dead because no way I short my life for a girl that I kiss once and never date. lol But that’s because I am not romantic. I felt that the tragedy of her make it a great dramatic figure and her place is to die to make plot more Dark gothic.

And I am so happy that there is a choice to say No I won’t give my lifetime for her. I was fearing that the game will force me to save her. It is something I love of this game you have many options available. So you aren’t force to be the good pc or the sinister pc. You could decide whether be more human or not.
A great game with good atmosphere.

Has anyone figured out how to do the spymaster achievement? I’ve tried a few times but remain unsuccessful.

what options at the funeral specifically, I am playing through it now and don’t see any romantic type stuff… Just assured her I wasn’t going to die.

I think it is obvious that you need to try and recruit as many people as you can for spies. Here are a couple places, though there might be some others I can’t remember at the moment.

1. When you go down into the Oubliette, you have the option of chasing after the serial killer, or look for the urchin. Decide to go with the urchin, and then offer her payment for each bit of news she gets.

2. When rescuing Holofernes from Dr. Tausk, you can repurpose his machine to force the inmates to become your spies on the streets. Depending on Science level, reading up on it in his office might be a wise idea.

3. Before going into the Oubliette, you have some time to explore. You could see Julian, Mona, or go alone through the Guignol. Choose the last option, and you will find an employee stealing money. If your stats are just right, you can blackmail him into serving you.

4. There will be a later option where you can spend time with a love interest, or pursue your own goals in Baroque. Choose the ‘own goals’, and you will get an option for a variety of things, and one is Building up my network of agents and spies.

Now I just need to figure out 3 achievements. Monarch of the Underworld, Portrait of Sebastian Melmoth, and Me and My Shadow.

wait. Chloe is RO? what the flip? I thought she is like, uh, minor character. She always died from illness at the end and it was just briefly mentioned in all my playthrough. Like, maybe in two sentences. Oh, my.

Yes , she is and a great one I recommend you try a character writer to be with her

I haven’t played this game yet, but I have played Heart of the House and enjoyed it very much. How much is this game similar to Heart of the House? (I am not implying plagiarism. I mean, similar in overall vibe, atmosphere, writing style, mechanics, difficulty, etc.)

In my opinion this capture better the dark gothic atmosphere and the dramatism in romances. It has more action scenes and more variety of scenarios. But both are great games. Heart of house is maybe more focused in romance than this. Even if this have good romances. In my opinion if you like heart of house you will like this. But you should try the demo

For Portrait of Sebastian Melmoth:

You need high insight/occult, and the portrait is at the ball. I forget if it’s in the office, or the secret room that you get called into.

For Monarch of the Underworld:

You need a high crime, and for my characters background I was an assassin prior to my death. I don’t know if that part mattered or not. But when the theater is having trouble, offer to go after the thieves. You meet them at a bar, and if you convince them that the theater is now your territory, you get the achievement.

It really warms my heart to see folks taking to this game. A lot of hard work from the beta testers and author went into it.

Good quality and value. Has to pay off. And I am the first person to criticize . However, lately Cog has improved in quality and variety. So I think is fair the good feedback. I hope that reflect on sales too and encourage more authors to sign up for more interesting games.

I think if our background was not an artist, where we don’t need to choose between composer, writer etc… we can still end up rewritting the script

I tried to be a Bounty Hunter and still end up given a choice rewritting the script for Chloe

That’s my intepretation of Chloe and her play as Queen Augusta… same gold hair , blue eyes

I very much enjoyed this one. I trapped a god in the MCs memories, ended up with the mad scientist and got their life back(mostly). Vincent get away to live a paranoid life fearful until the day he died, but I like to think that the MC found something (or someone) more important than vengeance.

how do you get coming of age and black mass?

@Rhalerien - You were 100% correct for the Monarch. Thank you! I guess I just didn’t pick the one choice.

Also, I did find a way to get the Portrait of Melmoth, so your hints helped me narrow down the area, though I had to go a different route. What I ended up doing:

First, this is dependent on you actually having a low Insight. Then, when you try to get into the ball choose: I will flag down a carriage and try to persuade its occupants to allow me to join them.

Note: You don’t want to recognize the lady in the first one, the Scavenger’s Daughter. So don’t get chummy with Mona (who knows her) and keep Insight low (otherwise you recognize her). You will eventually get into a carriage with Melmoth, but he is masked. Then when you go into the secret room, you will see a portrait of him and get the Achievement.

Black Mass is a little involved.

This one occurs after Holofernes directs you to procure a fresh corpse. Choose to Enter the Catacombs beneath the Necropolis (this also leads you to meeting the vampire).

The key here is that you need to enter, but then get caught by the cult entering it. Choose: I will conceal myself within the Necropolis grounds and wait for night to fall. You need to be found, and need a low Crime value (to high and you will avoid it).

Coming of Age

This one occurs near the end. I don’t know if it is necessary, but there is a part of the Mocata House mentioning about the Thallo secret, and asks ‘Is it worth the price’ and I reply ‘Yes’.

However, I think you also need to find pieces/clues along the way. This part is just speculation on my part, but when you go to the ball choose to Investigate the Cabinet of Mysteries. You will come across a Monk looking for his heart. If you find his heart, then he will give you a good history/rundown of the Thallo’s.

It might also be helpful to have a high Occult. This way, if you then search: Lord Thallo’s collection of occult literature, that will give you more information. If the above suppositions are right, when you meet Thallo, the achievement should automatically trigger

Please be aware that I might have included some unnecessary steps in the above, so others might have some better insight here.

It had truely being a wonderful journey for this game… lots of emotional experience and choices that i only wish i could had stay longer in this world… Baroque is truly a mesmerising and haunting world of wonder
There is still lots of potential within this world where we can explore , as every individual seems to have their own story and tragedy

i really wish i could had more interaction and story with Princess Carmila , she seems to be an ideal immortal companion … and theoritically she could continue to survive by drinking MC’s blood

Both Nicholas and Rochus are conflictual characters with lots of potential as well, i didn’t chose Nicholas but his claim about the cultist are harmless is far fetch… but Rochus’s current state of confusion and cowardise had clouded his judgement as well , he may once be an idealistic hero who no one appreciated , but now has slowly fallen after years of torment

perhaps i wasted my life energy for Carmila , my electricity is running low after saving Chloe and my lifespan may be shorter than Chloe … so it seems like to be a sad ending in future for us, but that moment when Chloe knows that i love her… she reveal that she is willing to die for me is touching . I chose Vision from the Crimson death, perhaps if i chose shapeshifting , my lifespan will increase

Anyway, Baroque is truly a wonderful world full of mysteries, there is certainly more potential for a spin off , perhaps a different MC could be a Vigilante for this world  i believe there should be more than one evil gods creating havoc im the world, it would be nice there is a MC operating like Van Helsing im Baroque

I do wonder whether there is a way to inherit the family wealth or allow Lara to inherit it ?

That makes a lot of sense for Portrait of Melmoth, the trigger must be having met Melmoth prior to seeing the portrait in the secret room. I had met him previously at Mr. Merrits Funeral, and you met him in the carriage on the way to the ball.

Have you figured out Me and My Shadow yet?

I’m also still having trouble with the Spymaster achievement but it must just be a me thing. My last playthrough I got my Minions up to 54%. I used the Machine to turn the patients into spys, I got the urchin, I got the employee stealing money, and I chose to build up my spy network. The only opportunity that I know I missed is blackmailing the Monk at the ball into serving you by finding and keeping his heart. I guess maybe you need to hit every possibly spy in one go? As far as I know he’s the only one I missed.
