Tally Ho Spoilers Discussion

Skullduggery needs to be higher than 45, or you’ll need both >25 Skullduggery and >45 Persuade (2nd choice) or >45 Soothing (3rd choice).

ooh… thank you for the advice :hugs:

Just for those who are on this thread but not on the Cakes and Ale Spoilers thread, I want you to see this amazing art from @Shyranno!

Ooh! Can we take these as more or less the “canon” appearances of the characters? I know, of course, that we’re free to imagine them however we want, but I kind of like to visualize characters as the author intended. Valentine, for example, wasn’t described in detail in the text so their image was sort of muddled in my imagination. So having a reference like this helps! (I’m sorry if I can’t say what I mean eloquently, English isn’t my first language )

I won’t say Canon with a capital C, because I like to leave room for interpretation, but let’s say this is one way that Shyranno and I collaborated to imagine them. But if you like them, visualize away–I know I’ve been thinking about these characters looking a lot like these pictures ever since I saw them…

Jolly Good fans who got the Mysterious Benefactor ending:
tenor
Seriously though, pleeeaaase?

Thank you so very much! Guess it’s time to do a Frankincense route again. Or a Rory-Frankincense-MC route (given that I’ve finally figured out how to get the poly ending.)

Edit: Has someone managed to get Haze to get help? Their story is probably the closest that has come to making me feel “sad” in Tally Ho.

It requires you to get their ending, >65 Tranquility, a relationship of >70 and choose to have Haze decided to work an honest job instead of the other two choices in the epilogue. I personally have never gotten it.

I did manage to get them help. If you want to boost their relationship then the Roman wall scene is a great place to have a high relationship boost with them

Oops, that was the place where I told them to get over themselves and called them a scared little child, I think. It’s so difficult to get Haze on the straight and narrow if I’m playing as a criminal, and it’s even more difficult to even like Haze (and vice versa) when I’m playing as a more soothing person!

Thank you so much! I normally always choose to have Haze be gainfully employed in an honest job (unless we become thieves together), but I think I falter on the stats. Maybe if I modded the file…hmmm… But that would take the fun out of the game.

Actually it’s not too difficult ( I say this since my MC is a soothing person ). All you have to do is be kind with them and show interest in them romantically. When you’re at the Roman wall scene try to be gentle with them. There’s a specific moment in the scene where Haze tells MC they’re probably going to be put into an asylum console them. ( I forgot the choices so it can be very vague + it’s been a long time since I had played Tally Ho!). At the end, hug them. By the end of the scene my Haze reaches 80-82)

Oh man, the most I’ve got is 56%, I think! I know that my relationship with Haze takes a hit before I even board the train because I apologise to the couple whose engagement I ruined, and then it takes another hit when they suggest we sex each other up and I go “nooooo” even though I like them. They get even more mad at you if you refuse to hook up with them despite crushing on them. And then I’m like, ughhh bish you have BPD and I’m doing the RIGHT thing by establishing boundaries in this case and why the hell won’t you let me help you you complete idiot? And it’s a credit to Gower that he wrote the scene this way, and that he made the post-hookup scene so very awkward, but the whole business has me rolling my eyes at Haze every time we next meet.

Anyway long story short, my soothing MC does much better with Rory and/or Frankincense. And this is why Rory is my favourite, actually. It’s almost impossible to have a bad relationship with them. Ahhh, my sweet Rory.

For the engagement instead of apologizing why don’t you just yell at the conductor instead since if you do that you can at least pay for the lady’s clothes and mollify the couple. Also, when in the train let Haze sleep in you shoulder and greet them warmly. If you want help with Haze you can ask me

And, Rory. At first they seem pretty normal but after going through their route I can say that they have won me over. And, how about the Frankincense romance ? Is it fun ? What’s the overall feel for their route ?

Despite playing through the game constantly there are still a few achievements I can’t seem to complete no matter what, and I’d appreciate any help I can get:
Alias Failure
Poor Fielding
Cat-Like Tread
In the Lair of Dr. X
The Talk
The Birds Choose You
The Miracle of Life
The Champion
The Pennywhistles Captured

I believe that to get this one, you have to miss the train in chapter 2. When Regina says she’ll call you “Dandelion”, say you’ll pick your own name instead, then keep giving her unsuitable aliases, such as her own code name or your real name or hers.

Hope all these help!

Poor Fielding

For this, it’s recommended to have high bold and skullduggery.
In Chapter 1: Choose the backstory of being a boxer in the past and suggest to Aunt Primrose to set out guards during the evenings.
In Chapter 5: When approaching the gates of Riternello, fail to convince Fielding that Figs is Professor Hickory twice (you know you’re on the right track when he questions you about Hickory’s middle name), and you’ll be given an option to punch him.
In Chapter 6: While you’re on your way out of the house, you’ll see Fielding again patrolling. You can then cosh/knock him out from behind.

Cat-Like Tread

In Chapter 6: Choose to participate in Rory and Mopsie’s fake theft. Then ensure that you do not make any noise on your way there. I can’t remember now, but I’m pretty sure not having guards/dogs around means Mopsie will always attempt to go out, which means some alarm will always be raised. So make sure either one is set for the evening.

For future searchers: In the Lair of Dr. X and The Talk are all Inner Circle mission-related, which requires MC to have >40 Observe or Intellect to even find.

In the Lair of Dr. X

In Chapter 6: Have both >50 Skullduggery and >50 Persuade, or >55 for both if you have Shambles around. Decline Trina’s help to get past the bouncer to Dr X’s mansion.

The Talk

In Chapter 6: After getting Firesnuff’s briefcase, open it despite being told not to by Trina. Then, explain things to her in highly clinical terms.

The Birds Choose You

This is gonna be more detailed than the other readmores because ohmygod do I haaate this achievement.

Highly recommend a Soothing MC with high Tranquility (65 or better) for some last-minute peafowl approval.

In Chapter 8: After finding the peafowls with the Grovers, choose to place the dumb birds in the middle and let themselves choose where to go. rep_peacocks is a hidden stat, and you’ll need >60 for them to willingly come to you (default rep is 15). There aren’t many opportunities to raise them, but here are a few:

  • Chapter 4: Choose to help Valentine with the post-hunt refreshments. After setting the table, you’ll get to feed the foul fowls together and there’s an opportunity to interact with them by praising/showing dominance/playing fetch.
  • Chapter 5: Only available if you choose Frankincense as your RO and you had donned Figs’ disguise. You’ll get to hang out by the peafowls during the break. Help interpret Frankincense’s dreams successfully and the overdecorated chickens will be happy.
  • Chapter 6: Choose to not participate in the theft or the stakeout at Dr. X’s. Galatea will come out of nowhere and steal the key, leading to a whole evening of peahen chasing. Letting her keep it at the end of the evening makes her happy. You do have an opportunity to get the key back earlier with Valentine but you’ll upset the featherbrains. I would suggest not doing that.
The Miracle of Life

Quoting myself again!

The Champion

Choose to go for/end up at the middle path in the boat race. Then, when facing off the Ragamuffins, be successful at reasoning with them, fighting back, or tell them to focus on the police’s boat instead (>50 Persuade, Bold, or Skullduggery respectively.) Their leader will talk about The Proving, which you can then choose to do undergo. Successfully consume The Champion with either >55 Bold, Intellect or Culture and you’ll get the achievement.

The Pennywhistles Captured

Okay, so, for this one, Haze has to be your second for the boat race. Help them to steal the Medallion during the said race and, as long as your Observe is higher than 60, you’ll get to accuse the Pennywhistles of stealing it.

@Greyscales thank yoooou! I’ve always wanted to get the peafowl to like me.

I always feel so bad about the achievements involving Fielding and The Pennywhistles though.

I gave her Light Fingered Lou (thinking that would get me the achievement) and for some reason she thought that was perfectly acceptable! Thanks for the help.

That’s so sweet of you, thank you! I’ll definitely bother you if I have more questions about Haze. I think paying graciously for the dress also causes the rep with Haze to drop, unfortunately. They’re too chaotic to like all these attempts by my MC to make everyone happy. But I’ll work on the others - and convince myself that the hook up with Haze in the woods is due to a momentary lapse in judgment, haha. (Have you tried telling them you think you love them afterwards? I always thought the whole thing to be hilarious but didn’t want to open myself up to the teasing that would follow).

Frankincense is adorable! I think they’re the closest to an “ideal” partner for me irl, with their love for animals and their tilt towards democratic socialism in their politics. Problem is that they can be a condescending jerk (at least towards my beloved Rory) and apparently you only get vegan milk in your household together. Vegan milk is great but everyone knows it sucks when you’re trying to make tea. :-((

Wait… that was a hook up? :flushed: I thought it was just enjoying Haze’s company !

There is a way to boost his relationship though in the train just tell them that your favorite season is autumn and either tell them in a very detailed manner on why you like autumn (the poetic option) or tell them you love autumn because you think it’s a transitional season.

Yeah… that was what I was worried about when thinking of romancing them . They sort of gave me that condescending vibes when interacting with them. But still, they are good people but a bit misguided in their methods. Personally, I find their ways of helping a tad shallow  but I personally don’t blame them since they only known luxury from birth so as a result their methods on helping those in need may seem… weird. Personally, I hope to see them grow maybe do charity work or getting their hands dirty for once (but that’s awfully too much to expect that from them). I hope in the Jolly good series we can see more side to Frankincense and see how much they have changed (or stayed the same) in Jolly Good.

Hahahahahaha, omg, really? :joy: Sorry, I shouldn’t laugh but I just find your innocent interpretation of what happened so funny and endearing

Hahaha :joy: I tend to be very naive… and dense. (As a result tons of misinterpretation happens a lot IRL and in games) Heck, I managed to misinterpret a choice in C&A where it was clearly romantic but I thought it meant something else. It was only when I was thinking through that again till I realized that it was a romantic option .

But, thank you for that picture. It’s very adorable. I don’t find myself to be adorable but I’m glad you think that way (???)
