Could be an interesting way of having side-characters with more time with the protagonist, I haven’t gone that deep with the future part of the story in my head yet though. I’ll be sure to keep the suggestion in mind.
Well that’s the interesting part, is it not? It’s gonna be up to you. Historically, the Amago clan was indeed defeated by the Mori but it was a very close race and the Amago could just as well have ended up as the dominant power in Chugoku.
For the story I’m not certain where the roof of power would go, you will certainly be able to become the dominant power in Chugoku but I’m undecided on more conquests outside of that. It’ll depend on the timespan I end up with. I don’t believe the book will continue all the way to the battle of Sekighara, there’s just too much content for that and I’d run out of story arcs by the 80s.
Pretty powerful, in any case.
I’m uncertain about what you mean with “social stat”, would you like to clarify? Don’t even stress it with the suggestions, I gobble up suggestions like a turkey and I’m pretty decent at filtering out what does and doesn’t work for the story, just hit me with all you got.
You should be able to find it on dashingdon now, seems you need to mark it as updated for it to show up in the list.
I have played War For The West and it’s not a bad comparison. For any potential romances I would be weaving them into the story in a somewhat similar fashion.
I haven’t thought about the Mori Clan since I was still playing the Samurai Warriors series- much less the Amago.
It’s a little too short right now for me to have much to say about it other than that it’s interesting enough that I’ll check for updates.
Making my English teacher proud, one book at a time…
Thanks for the kind words! Sorry that I missed your comment earlier.
In general I’d classify my English as pretty good, it’s just certain quirks of language flow that sometimes gets mixed up in my head when writing and just comes out as completely unnatural-sounding.
Obviously do what you want to do I’d recommend adding romance even in a minor way I’m sure you’ve noticed almost everyone who plays these games are into a romance element obviously not everyone but the vast majority of you add it even in a small way you’ll get more people coming around I seriously know some people who won’t bother with a game if it doesn’t have romance in it and this has potential I don’t want it to be ignored for something like that.
As in Charisma how skilled you are in politics so for example if you aren’t a skilled warrior you could be good at getting Allie’s (like charisma in the infinity saga)
and you could implement it into the 15 skill gains
by having him talk to people
Learn other languages
Learn politics
The first one would just increase charisma
The second one would increase persuasion
The third one would increase political knowledge
Not that exactly just to give you an example of how you could implement it and I know your balenceing the stats right now so it probably will change but it would help like the infinity saga so you could be good at 2 great at 1 or good at 3
Well since you don’t mind
A map kinda like war for the west would be nice and I don’t know if you have played a green journey but In that game it shows the land you conquer with highlighting the map with your nations color
Would be nice
(again I know it’s the release and you might be planning it already just it would be really helpful as someone who doesn’t know much about Japan except the typical samurai honorable warrior along those lines)
And have you considered a special choice in the duel against your brother if you at least 30 or something like that in swordsmanship you get a special decision that gives you a little bit more skill
does this duel only apply to swordship or spear and bow
Oh believe me, I’ve noticed
Thanks for the heads up, I’ll keep it in mind, trust me.
Oh yeah, gotcha.
Charisma is a pretty good idea, I actually don’t know why I don’t have that already. I’ll be sure to add that with update 2.
That said, you can’t be too bad of a warrior, martial prowess was very important for the samurai since that was their entire reason for existing in the first place.
A map like that is actually in the plans it’s just that I don’t have the tools to make it at the moment as I’m on vacation. Regarding not knowing that much about Japan, please do tell me any place where it’s overly confusing for someone without prior knowledge. Sometimes my perception of what basic knowledge is skews in the more advanced direction so any feedback like that is helpful to me.
There actually are different variants to the duel with your brother that give more or less skill, with each option having its own win/lose/draw with different degrees of difficulty for the skill check. At the moment the skill check only checks the physical stat, but it’s already in the plans to make it check both the physical stat and the swordsmanship stat.
If you mean the duel with your brother it only gives you points in swordsmanship.
This wip really made me interested, not just the story, the dialogues, when the game itself suggested translations, I immediately realised I’m about to get schooled, and I’m all for it. Really good work.
Well i imagine where not on the mainland of Japan but on the large island north or south of it
(I have little knowledge of Japan and most of the geography knowledge I know comes from shougun 1 and that didn’t even have the entirety of Japan so)
That would be pretty nice and a jeneral map of Japan maybe you could have fog of war for a while so you can’t see the other clans on the map except ones you border just so you don’t have to make every clan at once
also if you have to large of an image in dashingdon more than 1mb it can break the game I don’t know how it would work if it’s from a status page but the green journey did that and the entire update the entire section was unplayable (not a game maker that’s just what the author said was the problem)
And the duel yea I know one can you can give you +28 while the others give +21 atleast when you have 30 swordsmanship and I’m thinking about it now it wouldn’t make that much sense I was thinking about it forgeting he’s like 8 or 9
@Nax a good start and i am looking forward to seeing more in the future will half to play more lol.
It would be nice tho if your arrogant enough like 60 at-least you can try and keep hitting him (you know typical child with a stick and as someone who has experienced that on the receiving end I don’t like suggesting it but a kid would probably do that)
And question about the food choice dose that determine something or is it just a preference thing
Oh and the 2 options where you have to remember what the text said and type it (don’t want to reveal it because I didn’t see that at all my first run or second or third) shouldn’t that give a wisdom bonus seems like it from the text (i know people will save scum it but I imagine the final game isn’t going to have save tho so)
A codex explaining terms more in-depth with some interesting cultural and historical information is in the plans, I realized the translate parentheses got a bit lengthy in some parts. So if you’re interested in learning a bit about the period, stay tuned!
