Also could we create specialized musket users then just have them as standard infantry, like we could create a some time of dragoon unit or something of the sort, also could we befriend the Portuguese and learn some European style of warfare to give us an edge against either standard clans or clans that also have gun units?
When u say dragoon do u mean as mounted infantry or heavy calvary that uses guns
Well dragoons are medium so normal cavalry with guns so yea let’s go with heavy infantry with guns sense it’s similar
by any chance have you played the dragoon series by paul wang or are just interested in historical warfare in general im just curious
I love the dragoon series, it what caught my interest in this community
One book is my initial hope but it’s hard for me to estimate exactly how long the book will be this early in the writing process, I might have to split it over more. I’m aiming for one, though.
Your physical stat increases if you train swordfighting but no other stats do.
You could figure something out that doesn’t end in violence, eventually.
This might be to hard to incorporate but have you considered a path where you kill your brother (when your like 15-18 somewhere around there) so you don’t have to worry about succession and so the civil war that I imagine is going to happen because it’s hinted at in the first scene have a very honorable general or someone of that rank think you killed him and start the civil war (or poison him so he’s weak or something like that)
I feel your fire as a fellow dragoon series fan but dragoons in mid 16th century japan isn’t really something you’re gonna see, dragoons were very barely even a thing in Europe.
It’s important to remember that firearm warfare at this point is very underdeveloped, these weapons were large and unwieldy arquebuses rather than muskets. Troop tactics didn’t start to take on a more reasonable form until the 30 years’ war, with most armies using pike-and-shot formations that were hugely inefficient.
There’s a ceiling to how advanced you’ll be able to make your domain.
Regarding trade and European contacts, the Izumo province isn’t situated somewhere where there was a lot of European contact, with most of that being down south. That said, the Amago clan was intensely rich due to sitting on the Ginzan silver mine, something Japan became one of the biggest exporters of during the renaissance.
I’m not gonna exclude it as a possibility entirely, I’m just gonna mark it as implausible and then we’ll have to see where the story takes us. Contact with individual Europeans though, that might be something we can do.
love that u like the saga so realistically what kind of army will we have i like warfare history but i am just now branching off the asian warfare
Interesting proposition haha. It’s not an unreasonable course of action historically and it’s not that divergent of a path, it’s just that it might undermine the arc of the story. There will definitely be ways to sabotage your brother throughout your teenage years, sometimes rather grimly. If I were to add a way to try and kill your brother I think it’d just work to feed into the conflict between the two of you later though, rather than stop it entirely.
Alright it would be kinda cool if you can attempt to and if you have enough stats you can give him a permanent debuff whether it be
You cripple one of his arms or
Blind him in one of his eyes
But if you don’t have the right stats you get one of the debuffs but you would also lose a lot of support no matter what because you where dishonorable
Or since he has the opposite stats you have I think if your honorable you can’t try and kill or poison him be he can and will (tho that would probably be to much coding but I also know pretty much nothing about coding so I could be wrong)
Well, the matchlock firearm reached Japan in 1543 but saw limited production for at least 10 years due to doubts about its efficiency on the battlefield and the price of production, and it wasn’t until the 1560s that it saw limited use on the battlefield and it was closer to the 1570s that it became more widespread, with the battle of Nagashino in 1575 marking the turning point where firearms became a regularity on the battlefield.
In the scope of the book, this would mean that your army would mostly consist of bows and spears for a big chunk of the book, with the potential of early adoption of firearms coming to more savvy players in the 1560s.
When firearms are adopted, it’s mostly used by the standard infantry, the “ashigaru”, and mostly serves as a shock-and-awe weapon as well as an anti-cavalry weapon.
Not gonna say no to any of these, they could definitely happen.
Alright fair enough
thanks for the info well we have side storys where we gather a personal guard like the akazaya 9
and how powerful can we get because the Amago clan was beat by Mori so in this timeline what happened
@Nax
Have you considered adding a social stat (again I do know it’s the release so a lot hasn’t been implemented yet) I also get it why you wouldn’t because you would have to have a lot of opportunities to actually make possible to win the wars because you would have to make a lot of Allie’s just curious
(sorry if I’m bothering you with all the suggestions but this is the first demon game I’ve seen when it first came out usually it’s way to late to add the things I think of so a lot of the idea I have had before came up when playing the game)
Oh and is there a reason why I can’t see the game on dashington
Have you ever played War For The West? That doesn’t focus on romance but the romance that’s there I think fits what would work for your story.
