i think the same too xD
I have just played the demo and I have to say that i enjoyed it a great deal. I can’t wait to play the full version.
Our foes tumbled over like a sore loser’s shogi pieces after a tremendous defeat. The splashes in the pound outside confirmed where the group flew off to. I grabbed Masami’s wrist to break her out of her trance, and so I could hear myself think.
There was a passage where you used the word shit, at the handling the can’t read choice, but later on when arriving to the temple, you used kuso instead. I dunno if this is intentional or not.
I also agree with some of the other posters in that chivalrous and perverted shouldn’t neccesarily be opposed. Just because you’ve got a foul mouth, a dirty mind etc, doesn’t mean you lack honour. Besides, in the case of the suspicious town guard, I didn’t really feel it was a question about honour. The guy hadn’t done anything to me, so why would I have any reason to attack him? Especially since I had reason to suspect that he was spying on me on the emperor’s account. That whole scene felt a bit strange, as if I was expected to attack him for no valid reason.
Apart from that, I highly enjoyed it. Good parsing, though maybe a little light in choices in some places. For instance, why was it assumed that I would tell the undercover corrupt cops anything? Silence would have been my first choice, especially since as a supposed retainer, it wasn’t really my place to speak. And being able to just shrug off (or at least appear to shrug off) the emperor’s arrival would have been nice.
I hope you make the game available on steam, as my means of purchase is a bit limited due to principle.
Yes! My favorite author and a new samurai game.
All those sacrifices to satan finally paid off!
The emperor is believed to be a direct descendant of a sun goddess and is the head of the Shinto religion. Think of him as a version of the pope who counts Jesus Christ among his lineage. Be honest, what kind of commoner would just shrug off his sudden, unexpected arrival?
Had a great time with this, and how the scenes aren’t quite what they seem! Will there be a linear approach to the targets you’re given, or can you choose which you go after first?
Saint Peter And not a relative, more like someone to continue his legacy.
Good try though.
i practice seitei iaido… matter of fact i got a class tomorrow… gets me pumped… very unique with the style of writing!
something that ticked me off: why use “baka” and “kusottare” when you can use “idiot/fool” and “shit/damn”?
I wasn’t saying that’s what the pope actually is. It was just a hypothetical, saying that the emperor is basically what the pope would be if he was a demigod in addition to being the head of a major religion and the holiest person alive.
@Bagelthief
To give it a more Japanese feel, I presume.
@Sneaks it ends up hilariously weebish, and not in a good way. even though memoirs of a geisha was a disappointingly inaccurate book (so much so it prompted the woman it was based off to write geiko girl), i think it handled the feelin’ correctly.
The first thing I thought when I saw this was Akito Hyuga from Code Geass. Oh me and my references…
It sure does seem interesting though, so I’ll give it a shot and share my thoughts when I can!
It isn’t really “weebish” when the characters are actually Japanese.
Yes! I"m so excited for this! I just got done with the demo and I must say all the cheracters were so vivid! I liked Fatehaven so I’m pretty excited to see what you will do with this and what you might use that you learned from making your first game on here. =D
Interesting. I’ve been dying for some one to come out with a samurai game and am really happy some one is trying it. I’m curious to see where it is going. Me personally would like to feel like 'I’m playing a role in the history of japan. I wanna work for one of the famous dynamo like nobunaga or tokugawa or masamune. I want to participate in major battles, maybe become a dynamo myself or a general for one. Just room for thought.
It’s awesome
Can’t wait for more.
Also, one typo. Running into a guardsman and answering ‘he’s my charge’
A blissfully cool breeze flew by, but I wasn’t unable to enjoy it.
I can’t tell you how long I’ve been waiting for a samurai game. Especially one with this much promise.
I thought that I would love this as much as I loved Fatehaven and I was right!
In fact I just finished my fifth play though!
Well I wouldn’t be crawling on any floors if I met the pope. Besides, no matter what their actual reaction, the possibillity/abbility to display indifference would say a lot about the character. But of course being given that whole rip out the eye thing tidbit BEFORE the choice could of course have changed matters. In fact, even removing the choice of looking up altogether would make sense in that context, if it was so ingrained with my characters background.
But it just boils down to, in a text game with choices, I want to make choices. And if the character acts on their own, they ought to ideally do so according to the personality that I have previously staked out, otherwise it creates dissonance. However, in this case it could be justified as a sort of background info dump or what have you, but then, IMO, it would have more of an impact if we weren’t given any choice at all. And the quick recovery afterwards seems a bit out of place as well, given the initial reaction.
This is a great game, loved the story, the humor, enjoyed how I thought to be a simple fish turned into something bigger haha, and I can’t wait for more so I can through my money at this game, I’ll definately buy this game, hopefully this won’t bomb at the end hate it when CoGs do that.
Hey, thanks everybody for giving it a read!
@childofgod
You probably won’t be able to become a daimyo or a shogun in the series mainly because I want to keep the focus on a small group. The story centers around the adventures you’ll share with these oddballs, and the relationships you’ll build with them. I really like the drama and sense of exploration this format can give.
@Chwoka @starnight
I wouldn’t worry about the Chilvarous-Perverted dichotomy too much. It’s primary purpose is to serve as a flavorful filter for some of the more lewd aspects of the story.
@ThisisSymbolic
All the characters will change throughout the course of the story. Stats however, will eventually become fixed in order for there to be stat challenges, most of which will alter your attunement. There won’t be anything crazy, like “bad ends” at every turn, and I encourage you to play however you want. I’ll keep your idea of locking and unlocking traits in mind for the future.
@Silverstone
Thank you for the compliment and the find!
@MutonElite
Thanks for the find! I switch in and out of English and Japanese curse words intentionally. Getting this on Steam would be hella nice!
