So during the Yakuza fight I get the option at one point to dive or jump. It seems I lose attunement either way. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with that.

Considering this is set in around Edo Japan (or a little before, the Emperor’s figurehead status seems to support this), marriage age in Japan was typically 16 or so. Underage is also a pretty odd thing to try to apply to medieval sensibilities. But since she still had some baby fat on her cheeks, I’d put her around 12-14.

It depends on what animal you picked. I know diving as the Dog Spirit raised my attunement.

This game is amazing. I feel like its the best 3 dollars I’ve ever spent. I actually made an account for this game and this is coming from a person who has most of the Choice of games and a lot of Hosted game too. That cliffhanger has me wanting part 2 like that old woman wanted her opium. I loved this story I have wanted a Samurai based game forever and I was not disappointed.

Wow, never thought of this character as a THAT young one ==" I imagined he/she is about 16. Though I still can’t figure out how old the MC is. Something like 30+?

Hello ! I’m two-third through the novel, and I enjoy it tremendously. It is really well written, and the immersion is top-notch : you really feel like you’re in Japan (well, let’s be honest, I only know Japan through it’s manga and some anime, so I’m probably not the best judge here. Still, it’s only my opinion 
).
The pace is good, the novel is quite long and really enjoyable. And the morality is quite good, you don’t feel overburdened by western and christian morality, so that’s a really good thing in my opinion.
Really good job here, keep it up.

The beginning of the story with Momoko (the doctor) is a complete plagiary of Takani Megumi’s story in Rurouni Kenshin. I really hope that it strays from her story at some point. I would understand that you took inspiration from her story, and I really hope I’m wrong and it ends completely different from Megumi’s story but I’m doubtful.
Anyway my point is : inspiration is good, and I really understand it. It is both necessary and can lead to great things and improvement over the original. However, this side-story feels like a copy-paste.
But do not let that criticism anger you, I really love what you’ve done so far. I will buy the second story as soon as it comes out. Keep up the good work, I’m impressed with your talent!

Attunement doesn’t change regardless of whether you dive or jump at that spot. It’s important to keep in mind that while attunement increases are displayed to the reader, attunement decreases are not. Attunement, while it’s nice to have as a sort of rating system, isn’t designed to be something players ought to stress too much about.

It’s a rough guess, I can’t recall any late teenagers with baby fat still left. As for the MC… I’d guess late 20s, maybe early 30s. World-weary, well-traveled, but still at peak form since nothing suggests he’s on his downslope.
Though for all I know he could be 24.

Well I’m not much of an anime lurker. I actually tend not to watch much of them. I read some mangas in my youth, amongst them Rurouni Kenshin. And that bit is really a copy-paste of the story. But anyway, the rest is so good, that I gladly forgive it. It’s just that knowing what will happen even though I never played the game before removes a bit of the suspense.

What I mean by that is I already had strong suspicions when this girl came with two enforcers following her. When she help Hatch (who got poisoned from a guy who was a copy-paste from Aoshi’s Okashira soldier), who had his friend die from opium overdose just like Sasuke’s friend in Kenshin, I knew she would be the one dealing the stuff. Then she takes off leaving a letter, just like Megumi did in Kenshin.
It removed some of the surprise and suspense from the story. But hopefully you plan to take the story in a complete different direction, and even if you don’t, your writing is good enough that I’ll put up with it 
And yeah character development is really good otherwise, and the pace is amaaaazing! 
The addition of some flavourful text and actions taken automatically because you went with certain traits of character is an amazing idea, and it gives a sense of empowerment. It does, weirdly, by removing the choice in some places. Your character automatically acts in a way, because you pushed him/her on this path, and it really feels great.

Unfortunately there’s not. I think COG usually only begins to implement the save system once they have confirmation the sequel is definitely on the way.
Is there a way to get any of the Gifts offered by the snake spirit?

Nope, there is no way to get any of them. The only difference between the Gifts is that if you choose one of them and you have the right stats, then your Attunement will decrease less.

Seriously, this might have been my favorite COG game to date. Loved everything about it, really. Can’t wait for more.

This was discussed earlier in the thread. We think she’s 12-14, but that’s just an educated guess.

Nice story! Just finished it and enjoyed it. Way to leave it on a cliff hanger though, now I’m going to have to hang out for the sequel
