@Jason_Miller
No one’s saying that your feedback’s not useful. We’re not trying to discourage you. No one’s saying your views aren’t helpful. I’d definitely suggest signing up for the next beta test that appears on the forums since I know you’ll be really good at helping to shape a game.
I’ve not played Fatehaven, but there’s a thread you can discuss the game on, If you haven’t already posted there you should, since I bet the author would love to hear how much you love the game. The sort of positive feedback you’re giving means a lot to authors. It was released on August 8th 2014 (according to the blog), which is a little over four months ago, however it was tested on the forums before then so you might have seen it there.
You’ll also find firstly, these forums don’t always represent the views of the general audience of choice of games. We’ve a rather diverse range of opinions. There was a very vocal contingent criticising Heroes Rise, for instance, however Heroes Rise is one of the most popular and best sold choice games.
We were just trying to explain to you a little of how things work. That adding alternative paths isn’t as simple as it seems. For those who can do it it’s incredible though. I’d definitely suggest you have a go of coding up your own game too, if just to fiddle around and see how it all works. It gives an interesting insight into things.
Psy-High does actually have multiple endings.
Choice of Games is definitely about having alternative paths, of having choices, of telling interactive stories. I, for one, wrote over 10,000 words of feedback on Psy-High while I was testing it and you can bet that some of that was suggesting a few alternative choices.
But, by the time we get to this point, when the game’s finished. Well, of course we can wish there were extra powers, but all that can be done about that is just trying to explain why there wasn’t.
I don’t think you should stop posting. You’ve very valid points. You can definitely help the authors here. Have a look at the various WIP and Beta test threads for instance, and you can have a direct hand in shaping games. Or have a go at making one of your own. (Or do both).
