Whaaat? Rude system indeed, I never got one of those notifications.
Yes, I think both LI’s are male, I don’t think there will be other routes, but there are female characters that we can interact maybe a secret route?

Yuu’s route is mere days away! It will be bittersweet for Gilded Shadows to finally be complete, but I do still enjoy going back and playing routes from time to time. And I’m very excited for When Stars Collide too, so that’s something to look forward to.
I can’t wait to support GB Patch again! I have it on alarm too!
OMG I’ve been waiting Yuu’s route since the first release of GS. I am so excited
Every once in a while, you ignore all the warning signs and play a new game and end up thinking to yourself “wait…did I just screw a dying plant on the floor of a walk-in in freezer…”
I am as curious as I am concerned that I have played a game that if I remember correctly fits 25℅ of your description… But maybe my memory is bad and we’re talking about the same game?
Aaaand Yuu’s route got released. I couldn’t play today because I was travelling and now I’m home I can’t play because I have to wake up early tomorrow (because I got a new job yay). No way I’ll stop his route in the middle if I start it so is gonna be tomorrow’s afternoon. Already downloaded and all.
Oh my God, there’s more than one of them. Nope. No, I am playing on an app by StoryTaco. Not to imply that I’m not about to start the game at the link, because I totally am.
Yuu has quite a lot of surprisingly smooth one liners, and I like that there is an in game lore reason (that his bio kinesis speeds up his neural processing) to explain why.
I’m loving his route. I think it’s really good that on a lot of Gilded Shadows’ routes things move fast, but Yuu’s was one of the fastest! I really like a guy who knows what he wants. I didn’t finished it, and I’ll have to sleep now, but I will be DEVASTATED if there are ulterior motives for his interest in Morgan… But honestly, I don’t think the author will go through this path.
takes notes and adds this to what I need to play in the very near future
A guy who knows what he wants? I’m all in…
Guys I still haven’t finished Reuben’s route have mercy
Btw, what do y’all think of End Game’s routes in general? I didn’t do Magnus (bc I was already burned at that point) but the way the tone shifted to be so biased towards End Game made me really dislike them lol
Biased TOWARDS Endgame?
I mean, that might be a fair call given you haven’t played Magnus’ route, I haven’t played Ari and Caleb for a while. But Magnus is very much NOT pro Endgame.
EDIT: To answer your question, they aren’t my favourite routes. They are still good, but I definitely prefer Lance and Quill. The one’s where Morgan gets to escape the system, rather than really have to choose a side in it.
Yeah, because even MC acts like she’s pro End Game!! I would’ve understood coming from the others but MC?! When that’s the organization she never wanted to get in?? Because you can’t get out??
On Caleb’s route he calls MC out on it, that she’s only there because they (End Game & him) literally kidnapped her yet nah its dismissed… Even her thought process doesn’t expand on the reasoning why lol
Don’t have much to comment on Ari’s side, boy is whipped so that bs was convenient to him haha
But thanks for informing me Magnus route is not like that! I originally wanted to do all routes but wasn’t so sure anymore so that’s a big plus
With Red Embrace we have to consider the context of what the dev intended with the game (which is, a dating sim starring characters that weren’t meant to be romanticized or sexualized). Here are screenshots from the game book that circulated online:
Many romance game enthusiasts felt cheated by this game, since it was funded by the Kickstarter by that community and yet the game itself came out as an odd anti-fluff and evn dating sim scene manifesto. This has nothing to do with the topic, just providing the context for the creation of Markus (who is not strictly an RO, depending how you define romance).
That’s really interesting, thank you for sharing - I was vaguely aware of the Kickstarter and the creation of the game, but hadn’t played it yet.
I’m not sure I agree that romance VNs are a problem in the way described, and I always tilt my head questioningly when a game (or anything really) is framed as “not about politics”, but I find it a bit strange that people felt cheated - the Kickstarter text says it “contains ‘romance’, but isn’t a dating sim” and describes itself as a “twisted romance”. I’m not sure what was expected but it doesn’t seem like the game was being marketed as something other than what it is. (Not that I’m super knowledgeable about how the game was marketed!)
Learning more about it, though, makes me more intrigued to try it out.
Well, reading all that did one thing for me: it made me realize I want to avoid that developer’s games at all costs. Life has enough dark times and misery, with sad endings and pain. I don’t need that in my entertainment, nor do I want it. It’s one thing to have a dark setting where characters manage to hoist themselves up and make some light in their world (ItFO comes to mind here), it’s quite another to have a dark setting with nothing but misery and pain. Other people may be into that, but I’m not.
Thanks for sharing that. Now I know that, anytime I see something they’ve made, to avoid it like the plague.
Edit:
It’s funny, I love some yandere games (which are basically horror porn, lol), even when my poor MC ends up dead or imprisoned, but something like that above? No thanks.
I mean, reasonable the developer evidently has a very particular approach that isn’t going to be for everyone. I have to be in the right mood for something that dark myself!
Yeah Red Embrace Hollywood was a very interesting game that I have very mixed thoughts on. To be fair to the backers who were shocked by it, the first Red Embrace game was also very dark (One bad ending pretty much had the mc becoming a sex slave which isn’t exactly a uncommon thing in dark BL stories from what I’m noticing) yet all the ro’s still had a happy ending that you could get. Still interested in the next game which appears to be taking quite a few inspections from Disco Elysium especially in the UI.
This project, and the developer itself, were both at a particular stage in the developer’s life-cycle, and I feel that if you try to look at it and try to apply everything to both prior projects and future projects may lead you to the wrong conclusions.
ymmv, but I’d look at this project as one that was a project of where the developer was at that particular moment in time.
