Oh, I’m interested in that one too. Yeah, mixed feelings sums it up really, I like it when characters go nuts, especially in setting such as the bootleg VTMB.
It didn’t always work. I felt the lack of influence, despite the politics hinging on your choices and the stakes while high weren’t personal. MC was a blank state enough to just sit back and watch the intended romantic options have the worst time of their life (or contribute unknowingly) and I needed them to give me more emotionally. Tragedies are a lot more fun when experienced with friends 
The characters were definitely memorable though. I favoured Heath and his drug-addled maniac pixie boy persona and I like what Randall had going on with his saviour complex (where I don’t think he works is the twist with the clan, but I’m not ready to turn this into an essay).
As a player, I could see things in these characters and see what was coming and I liked it. But there’s definitely room for improvement to turn it into something more.

Ohhhh, I backed that game! I’m so oblivious, I never realized there was backlash. I personally loved it. The characters were fascinating. Has the author created more? I enjoyed their brand of nihilism. It reminded me a lot of Disco Elysium (I think someone else mentioned it?) which is also up my alley.

Red Embrace: Hollywood itself is okay, it is what it says it is, and I had my fun with it, so you could give it a go.
Having said that… Yeah, I have enough stuff in life to deal with it in my media every time, especially if it’s a media about relationships, and the thing about any relationship, platonic or romantic, is that people want to them work out and bring as much joy as possible, and not heartache and misery. Plus, there is nothing more sophisticated about sad endings. You can show a lot of stuff happening with a character, and still let them find their happiness or step on a way to it. I actually think we need more of that - stories of healing and learning to move on, that’s what’s difficult in life, not the misery itself.
Also, I’m sorry, does anyone, like, masturbate to half-point and then decides that it’s good enough? Because unless it’s a thing, I’m more than sure that orgasm is very much a point of having sex, but it’s fun how we have convinced ourselves that it’s not so for a half of humanity.

More games in general or more Red Embrace? In either case yep but I wouldn’t say that any are as depressing as Hollywood especially their most recent release which is about a group of people playing a mmo(No it’s not a isekai just slice of life). For Red Embrace they made a free short story vn called Red Embrace: Mezzanine which i had not played yet. Supposedly it’s supported to be a set for thier next big game Red Embrace: Paradisus which is going to be a CRPG in the style of Disco Elysium gameplay wise

I actually consider Disco Elysium to be anti nihilism as in “Yep there is no meaning to life but fuck it anyways live your life the best you can” plus there is still hope both that all the bad foreshadowing stuff can be avoided and that Harry can get better even in the closest thing to a bad ending. The book that the game is a prologue to “Sacred and Terrible Air” on the other hand not so much but the author did say they worte it in a darker time in their life plus multiple time lines is a thing that exist in the setting

Really enjoyed what’s there so far. I like the option to not have the bully romance line (I’m obviously going to for the DRAMA and because I want to spectacularly shoot Micah down). Cass seems like the most sane romance option at the moment. He’s just a reasonably chill guy who is honest about being attracted to you. Daniel is a whole mess, but has a lot of potential. And I’m definitely going to have one playthrough where I romance Taylor just to really stick it to Micah.

@CC_Hill I played the game today and, unsurprisingly, I loved it. It was so fun. You are unstoppable. I love the characters in your stories so much.
I had played the previous version on choicescript, and yeah, this game has to be in visual novel format, because things flow much better. My favorite RO is still Daniel, but I love Cassidy too. The possibility of drama is HUGE. I also liked very much how over-the-top Micah is. I can’t wait to know why he invited us to his wedding. From what I saw on the game description, you don’t intend to make any poly route? Like Micah/Taylor/MC LOL it would be CHAOS
Daniel will be my first choice of romance. And I have to say, I hate Hayden, but I kind of feel bad for her too.

Yep. The first 4 episodes will be common routes. After that MC will fly to a tropical island with the RO they are fake dating. During the common route, MC will be able to flirt.
