Otome Games

For me, Hakuoki (any version, any platform):

.
This game has no right being this good for free:

.
MxM Cyberpunk story. There’s a mature patch, and the good thing is, the mature stuff isn’t there just to make more space? It actually adds to the game and makes it a better story? So good.

The whole Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side series (PSP, DS). They all have English patches. However, there’s an Android/iOS/Vita game where you take care of a cafe/restaurant that a bunch of idols go to (Tokimeki Restaurant, ときめきレストラン), that is only available in Japanese.

.
I love how much character the art style has in this game. You can tell the artist is really confident about it. And yeah, it’s gorgeous. Also, I love tarot, okay?

.
And although not strictly romance-focused, this is like, the one VN I would pick to have absolutely not missed in my life if I could choose one

They’re both not pure visual novels though.

I’m excited to play whenever there’s an event.:see_no_evil: Been playing for 2 years now.

Since I was always the most cynical about its future release, I wanted to be the one to share that the developer for Seven Kingdoms: Princess Problem posted a Kickstarter update the other day. Among some comments of a personal note, she mentioned she hopes to get the base game out by the end of the summer.

Regardless, I’m glad to see she’s okay. With COVID-19 and everything, I was a little afraid for her.

I can’t believe it! Wow, thanks for telling us. I was sure we’d never hear from them ever again :disappointed_relieved:

If anyone is looking for a more adult game that has erotic content I’ve been enjoying the hell out of College Craze.

Welcome to Sugardale, a mid-sized college town and home of prestigious Sugardale University. You play as an incoming female freshman, ready to make your mark in the world.

Choose to study hard, work off campus, or party every weekend. Manage your grades, followers and bank account as you meet and interact with the 15 (and counting!) unique characters of Sugardale.

Create your own story and get into steamy situations, all while helping (or sabotaging) your friends, keeping secrets and revealing mysteries about the town’s shady happenings.

They definitely take inspiration from Eva Kiss’s Good Girl Gone Bad, so if that was something you enjoyed I think you’ll like this too. There’s a lot of branching in the story even now in it’s early stage.

College Craze is fantastic. I also recommend. There are many ROs and scenarios to end up in. The writing is also a huge step most adult VNs.

Question, but should adult works be linked here? Genuinely unsure since this is a general topic and people are linking to NSFW content.

I think it could be okay? Or I might be wrong. I meant since there’s no nsfw imagery just information. Maybe posting about an NSFW game should come with a warning with what it is just in case for those not looking for that?

Today is the last day of Otome Jam in itch.io. There are more than 50 free otome games. I already tried some of the Jam games (Teachers - with love and passion, Under Maintenance and Love in Oasis) and I really can’t decide if I have a favorite. They’re all so good!

A couple of free VN out on Steam.

The following allows same sex romances if one activates rainbow mode in the options.

The following is more of a story, but someone said it has a possible MxM romance (They didn’t finish it yet)

I’m playing Collar X Malice for the first time and all I want to say is that I’m completely in love with Mineo Enomoto. If anything bad happens to him I will kill everyone and then myself. He is just precious. I didn’t finish his route yet but this game is incredible.

Hi Hi! I’m a little late for the party, but here are some VN’s and Otome’s that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I have many more titles to list but currently I’m at work and I don’t have my Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck right now. I’ll probably make another suggestion list later.

I was a Teenage Exocolonist

Pros: The storyline is very exciting and original while also keeping it at a nice pace. You can pick your pronouns, your gender and your personality. The artwork is very bright and cute.

Cons: Not a traditional Otome game, and some very sad scenes which is necessary for the first play.

LGBTIQA+ Friendly?: Absolutely, it also has some poly romances as well.

Platforms: Steam, Nintendo Store

Arcade Spirits

Pros: A fun, playful video game VN. Set in an Arcade and you slowly discover yourself and your purpose. It’s an easy read and has a high replay value.

Cons: Again technically not an Otome

LGBTIQA+ Friendly?: Absolutely.

Platforms: Steam, Nintendo Store

Arcade Spirits

Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers

Pros: The second game in the Arcade series. It’s not necessary to play the first game to understand the second game. This installment adds a character creator and a new mini game to play throughout the main story. It behins as you are looking for a new Gaming team to sign up with and your Phone AI leads you to your new team who ultimately

Cons: The mini game in the VN frustrated me for a bit but you can turn it off after the first time you play the mini game.

LGBTIQA+ Friendly?: Absolutely.

When the Night Comes

Pros: A fantasy style VN that you could choose the pronouns and name for your main character. It’s one of my favorites for the character writing and how the story progresses throughout the game.

Cons: I don’t have any, but I could be biased because I love this one very much.

LGBTIQA+ Friendly?: Absolutely, it also has poly romances as well.

Platforms: Itcho.io, Steam, Nintendo Store
When the Night Comes

Piofiore: Fated Memories

Pros: A mafia based Otome that the main character has to be protected from the other factions in the city.

Cons: I personally hate how a lot of Otome’s have the main character be very “damsel in distress is my entire personality”. Though I ignore it for Otome’s.

LGBTIQA+ Friendly?: No, sadly it’s Heterosexual romances.

Platforms: Nintendo Switch

Honorable Mentions

•Errant Kingdom, a VN in the making by the same studio that made “When the night comes”.

•Our life Now and Forever, a VN in the making that follows the same content as “Our Life” but you could play either one first.

•Norn9, an Otome that was released awhile ago for the PS Vita but I saw that they might release a new Norn9 for the Nintendo Switch.

I’ll second the “Our Life” series! Only the first one is fully out, but the demo for the second game looks just as good as the first.

Series Summary: in these games, you progress through childhood and adolescence. You have one or two best friends (respectively) and over the years, you fall in love with them (or one of them). They’re stories about friendship, love, childhood fun, and the struggles of growing up.

Price: free base game and inexpensive dlc ($5 I think)

Errant kingdom is amazing :sparkling_heart: The final version of the game will launch december 20th and I am SO EXCITED to see the end of the story

I didn’t play it yet but there’s a Steam version of Norn9 too.

Dark Nights is SO GOOD. The steam launch is new, I guess. I need to see if is different from the itch Io version.

For people who play otome on Switch, there’s an Idea Factory Sale in the USA eshop.

Birushana is 60% off and Cupid Parasite is 50% off. Until tomorrow.

I’m seriously in love with this game:

I love slice of life games. And the protagonist was very relatable in some points to me, so I really got emotional in some parts.

I played two of three rotes and it’s amazing. The romances are awesome and well developed. At first the art style wasn’t my cup of tea, but now I love even that

Ohhh and there’s non graphic spicy content and it’s very good too :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

And it’s free

Didn’t finished Emberfate yet, I was playing on itch.io but they launched on Steam this week. And it’s also free

Another free otome game release on Steam. This one was from last year’s otome jam and its really cute

There’s going to be a Let’s Play (webtoon) dating game. The Kickstarter page will be up soon.

Are you ready for the excitement tomorrow? #Everdate #LetsPlayComic

It has:

  • 6 women and 6 men to romance
  • 3 queer women, 2 queer guys (if I’m correctly interpreting the grayscale flags as representing straightness)
  • 2 ace characters (not sure if those are supposed to be heteroromantic or not)

There’s also this…

You can date Marshall or Charles (or both) in Everdate! #Everdatehttps://t.co/srI2EFDGtq pic.twitter.com/PvLRfCZuFl

Not sure how you’re supposed to date both dudes when one of them is straight?

Really curious about this project.

I don’t know the webtoon but this project seems interesting. Very cute characters

This one was fully released today, I didn’t played the full version yet but I liked the demo
