Okay So Hear Me Out (Headcanon Talks)

Jury is the kind of character I always love headcanon-ing to get crush easily toward people he shouldn’t have a crush. while his crush being totally oblivious. or in the case where jury cover his dorky/feeling with cocky attitude, hate his guts.

again my HC usually have little to almost no confirmation in canon. just me making my own bg for each characters, so… shrug

This has become a thread all about Jury and I could not be happier.

I like to imagine if your MC gets together with Jury he likes to ask you about Prodigal since she was his half-sibling so he’d probably be curious about what she was like since he didn’t get to know her.

Or even better. Jury getting the Prodigal MeChip personality.

Also I can see Jury being a very affectionate and cheesy boyfriend and using stupid and embarrassing pick-up lines.
“Remember when we met? You were quite the knock-out, cutie c;”

@mewsly you make me imagining a different scenario
I might be going off topic but…

imagine non-powered high school au where jury and prodigal is known as that half-siblings who that is total opposites of each other.
and they both set their eyes on MC somehow
poor mc…

ok back to HC: black magic secretly loves pastel colour ;D you can see how much I love putting contrasting quality in a character.

Jury is a bully - one that exhibited behavior like we see listed in the bully thread. I will never like a petty mean-spirited bully; even if he does do the right thing eventually because of guilt or being blackmailed.

but

I usually end up in the minority on “popular” characters anyways.

Well, hey man, you’re entitled to your opinion.

In my opinion this is fiction and while a person in the real world who acts like Jury would probably be a really unlikeable ass some people can see past that when its a fictional character. Its like liking a villain, I don’t have to agree with them to enjoy them as a character, but thats just my feeling about it. You have every right to dislike him.

Prodigal murdered hundreds, thousands.

Black Magic keeps a bunch of mentally disabled people in a room, and feeds off their life energy.

Jury is far from the worst character in Heroes Rise. Even with that first encounter with the main character, we physically assault him. And yeah, Jury’s an ass, but he’s an ass capable of redemption. And he’s not done anything anywhere near as bad as either Prodigal or Black Magic. Sure, he’s on the wrong side, but even then he’ll switch sides when he needs to.

Honestly I’ve always seen Jury as more of a rival than a bully. The Gary Oak to your Ash Ketchum as it were (I mean Gary was an asshole too but still). Sure, he is not a nice guy at all but even at his worse, from what I recall, he doesn’t do much worse to the Player besides some snide comments. Hell, does he even go so far as to call you “Gene Hazard” like a lot of other people do? I know he used to term “Hazard talk” when talking to you and The Crush but he didn’t actually call you it outright. Even the one time he actually fights you its because either your going power crazy or seem like you are about to.

Really the worst thing he did was what he did to Jenny which he clearly regrets. I don’t think Jury is really malicious, and the MC normally gives it as good as he gets when it comes to Jury. Sure that doesn’t make it okay but it makes it seem like the MC and Jury are on an equal playing field. Sure Jury has his daddy to back him up but the MC has their own support system and is much more powerful.

Though I do have a question. Did he know your secret identity before Prodigal outed you in Heroes Rise? It would make sense for him to know since Victon was able to find out and it seems like something he would tell him. If he didn’t know why wouldn’t Victon tell him?

Your implying that Victon cares about jury outside of him as a tool.

Everything said here is spot on. The beauty of the redemption paths is that everyone is able to be redeemed - the mass murderer, the torturer and the bully.

Jury is the most petty and inconsequential of the adversaries, yet he is turning out to be the most beloved.

@FairyGodfeather - I remember us having a similar discussion before (although not the details) and the difference between Black Magic and Jury is one of intent. Jury knows he has everything in the world going for him - yet he is intentionally petty. Black Magic had the intention of doing good and knew everything was stacked against her.

Prodigal is the case of an evil character written so well that the reader/writer in me fell in love with her as a character and has wiped all else away - my mc should end up sad that Prodigal and her life happened but I broke the 4th wall on her and there is no going back on that.

@Wire
Personally, I like to give everyone I can a second chance.
That is a noble position to take. Jury has been given much more then a single second chance. He was given everything and set-up for success - there was nothing wanting in his life. He even got second chances before you gave him yet another, and if you feel he is worthy of affection or love from your MC; we’ll just disagree and call it a good read either way. :rose:

@Mewsly - Jury is your rival? Not Prodigal or Jury’s Father? I might have agreed with you at first blush but the farther the series progressed the farther that got from the truth-of-the-matter (as I saw it) and the less the pettiness could be justified as such. ymmv.

Can we not go back to this argument again and Back to headcanon, please? I feel like its always ended up about which character worthy of being liked. When it comes to fantasy character we just like them we need no bulletproof reason, right?

I’ve always seen Jury’s father and Prodigal as villains. Rivals are people who are trying to accomplish the same goal as you, someone who is trying to be better than you at something, someone who pushes you to be better for the sake of outshining them. Unless your MC is running for President or you’re doing a villain run (which is possible, I admit) they’re not in competition with you, they just to destroy you.

And you’re right. If we want to have this argument we should make another thread. We should get back into the headcanons.

Personally, I’ve always liked to imagine that Jenny is a big fan of Batman, since this game seems to take place in the future of our world I would think our comic book heroes would still be around. Maybe Summit is a fan too.

Aye, hey guys. I’m back with more Jury headcanons. Let’s talk about baby!Jury!

As a child, he craved attention and affection from his father. He was generally ignored by his parents most of time and has he been given an amount of love, maybe things wouldn’t be this bad. But that was never given, no matter how hard he tried, he was never more than pawn in a political chess game later on.

Aaron always strived out to be the best in his father’s eyes, thus, he tried really hard to be good at various things to impress his father. All in hope of getting his attention. The amount of his academic accomplishments is quite impressive, and he’s entitled to be smug about it because he knew he’s good. That was where his confidence coming from aside from his status, he was a good kid to his parents, a good student at his school. But his father never gives him a piece of his time, Aaron was always the ignored child of Victon.

He’s very obedient to his father, he does everything his father tells him to do because he thinks that will get him to be acknowledged by Mayor Victon. But his father never looks at him with love in his eyes, and sometimes he wonders if he’s ever even a son to him. But he believes in his father, an ignorance kind of faith.

He was kind of clinging on frail string of hope when his father “turned” him into a hero. It was by misconception that he thought his father did care about him after all, it was not wrong of him to lose hope. So he followed his father despite everything, because he thought miracle can happen twice.

The reason why he’s not good at heroing is because, even if he’s equipped with advanced MeChip, or even with his childish dream of becoming a superhero, he’s forced into the role. He’s used, played, controlled as a public puppet of his father. Jury was not acting good out of his own accordance, he was trying to shape himself into someone else’s dolls.

He was strayed off his own road pretty fast after his father gave him a role in the game. There, he learned all kinds of bad things he should have avoided and abused the name of Victon to get what he wanted. Because his father told him to take hold and use his power when he has it. Not the artificial power of his MeChip, but the power of status and control. His father taught him how to play dirty in game of mind and people.

Subconsciously, with everything he has done, Jury always has a knack at the back of his mind that he was living in a delusion. That, for once, there was never a father for him, only Mayor — President Victim. That he’s being used, he’s a tool, his mere existence can be discarded had he not been a spawn for this twisted political mind game. And when he shot Jenny that day, the walls he built up to protect himself from the truth shattered. Utter horror, guilt and disbelief. It wasn’t just the fact that he almost killed/killed another person, it was also the realisation his instinct was right all along and his world was a lie.

looks at everything I wrote and whispers “Yikes.”

Someone please post so I continue to spam more headcanons  I put too much effort into a character that isn’t supposed to be that deep.

isn’t supposed to be that deep.

What most likely is the reason we Jury fans somehow have to spawn so many headcanons. Because of all the potential the character has and we see but isn’t delved into during the games. Granted, the other characters also have potential for more depth to explore as we end up seeing (*cough* Blackmagic *cough*), but they at least get more screen time, whereas Jury doesn’t…so your effort is not that suprising.

Yis, thank you for replying. To be honest, one of few things the series lacks is the character development required for certain characters. Like we know Victon is an manipulative, power-thirsty man who’s not above taking others’ lives to meet his end goal. But not much beyond that, so it’s kinda open for everything. We don’t really need in-depth back story about them, that would be nice but overkill. Just something like, more layers for this foundations, things that make character complicate.

I should stop before I start ranting and more romantic headcanons? More romantic headcanons.

Aaron is an insecure person, and an insecure lover. He’s self-aware of what he has done in the past, and dwell on it from time to time after getting into a relationship with protagonist. Sometimes, when he holds them in his arms after a restless nights, he still thinks about his actions, his past, how he’s a jumbled mess, how he should be hated by them. Yet, they are here, comfortable and relaxed in his arms. And he looks at them with so much love, because he still firmly believes that he’s blessed by their love, that because someone loves him not because he’s a Victon or Jury, but because he’s Aaron. They have him at his most vulnerable and weakened state, and he appreciates them for that.

But even so, he doesn’t hold them back when their relationship falls apart. When that day arrives, he knows, just by looking at those eyes when in the morning. The both of them know they can no longer hold this up, but they still act their parts of a couple when they return from work. Small talk, shared bath, little gestures of affection, the two of them are closer than ever. It’s a long night before both of them have any sleep, but when they mellow out and he thinks it would be over, their words break through the silence and stop him from breathing. Let’s break up, it chokes him at a loss for words. He was expecting this, but it’s no less hurt. Yeah, he says, squeezing them a bit tighter in his hold. They pass out that night as lovers like any other night, but by the morning, they are strangers.

He still keeps that sketchbook, mainly drawings of them or their shared apartment. The two of them move out together after they secure their family’s safety. It’s a bit rushing, but there’s no time to lose. He needs support and they are happy to be by his side. From their bedroom, he can look out to the city’s side. Sometimes, he just sits in silence at the balcony to capture the scenery. A moment of peace after the storm, perhaps short-lived but appreciated.

He let them have his drawings of them after moving out by intentionally leaving it behind. And when they try to return, he tells them to keep the sketchbook. He shouldn’t keep art of them lest he feels weak and show up at their door again. He did, he did that more than once but he never had the courage to knock their door. But he forgets that photography is also art, and those photos of them in his MeChip he never remembers to discard.

He likes walk in the rain, he’s not even poetic or anything of a romantic soul. It’s just that, rain doesn’t care who it falls on. For rain, everyone are one and the same, and when he’s taking a stroll under the rain, he forgets who he is and just mindlessly walks on. He’s not quite good with deep thinking during these time, he saves those for when he’s engulfed by the sheer beauty of art.

Why am I make an arrogant and sleazy character into an ARTFUL SOUL with INSECURITIES, and REGRETS.

Wow, like, Aaron. That, trash can. Yes. Of course. Depth for him.

screams “Jury angst!!” while running into the distance

Aaron might be trash but he is high quality trash. Like medical waste or something. Expensive trash.

I have so many headcanons when it comes to Jury. Like him being touched by the smallest acts of kindest. Anything from remembering his favorite pizza toppings to listening him rant about the other members of the American Protectorate makes him unreasonably happy since he was never shown much kindness from his father or step-mother.

Aaron being a popular guy during school and all his friends being the typical “bro-tastic” douchebag types. When he tells them about becoming a hero they help him make the most ridiculous, over the top costume that his father instantly turns down in favor of something much classier.

Getting with the MC he and MC’s grandmother becoming kind of close. Him helping her with small things when the MC is too busy to do it themselves, watering plants, grocery shopping, things like that. Him bragging when De Milo let him water her without almost getting bitten.

Ah, I have too many feelings for this character. He’s making it hard to replay the game and romance anyone else!

Okay. So. I’ve got a few new headcanons.

First off, the most important one. Summit. He’s a furry. I mean, he dated an ani-powered hero, his arch-enemy Sheathe is ani-powered. If you can romance him as the new MC where he wouldn’t even give the old MC the time of day I’m going to consider it confirmed.

Also, this is more serious, how does Jury’s “powers” work? I kinda assumed that he would hack into other people’s MeChips. I’m sure the MeChips would have a view through the person’s eyes. Plus he does seem to have some kind of technical know-how since he was trying to hack Proccy.

Okay and… how did Miss Artillary get fridge’s full of Victon, ah, baby-juice? Either he is the most oblivous man in the world or she’s some kinda hand-job ninja.

My headcannon of the MC’s family echoes my own. Dad: Ronald. Mom: Ann. Grandma: Marcellia. I even gave my first mc my rl first name.
