November's Writer Support Thread

Thank you for doing what you do. :tea:
(Selfishly I think this is valuable lived experience that you can write about later. But that’s for you to decide if it’s a positive thing or not.)

Please take care of yourself too.

Added more temp and rand variables to a related scene and also ended up creating a beverage variable.

Read for context and spoilers

If you are Exhausted, you spend the day in bed.

If you invest in one of the skills, the flavor of this miniature scene changes. A companion, of sorts, can randomly appear to be doing one thing or another and as you invest further it’ll change what this companion does.

If you invest into this skill until you’ve mastered it, one of the random narrative options that can happen is this companion will prepare your favorite beverage for you while you’re exhausted.

Haven’t posted on one of these support threads since October. It’s been kind of dragging, and I’ve been distracted by other stuff, too. But I’ve tried to make sure I do some, even if not much, every day. We’re homing in on the end of Chapter 2 now, which is the point at which I’ll feel ready to create a WIP thread! Exciting times.

Small Update:

Research will often lead to strange places – here is my latest research:

Hope everyone is staying safe and sound. I’ll be updating at the end of the month; November has been only semi-productive for me, which is the norm established for this year.

I went to update my WIP this morning, only to find that I couldn’t edit the post, which was… troublesome. Apparently I need to spend more time on this forum.

Trying to stick to the plan and write two sentences a day. Sometimes it’s a swing and miss and I don’t write anything, other times I knock it out of the park and write way more than two sentences.

Currently I’m working on filling out all the temp string variables I talked about yesterday. I had originally planned for nine random possibilities but they kinda grew more than I expected cause I had a lot of fun adding slight variations to one.

So now your ghostly companion can sit in the chair multiple ways and not just one way. It will also interact with your pet griffin on other occasions.

Also got the bare bones hangout scene/hub typed out. Bare bones stuff and I don’t even know what types of hangouts I’ll include for some of the companions, but I’m happy to have the skeleton structure finished.

Hi tr0pic –

If you tag the moderators in your WiP thread, one of them (or a Leader) can turn the first post into a wiki so that you may then edit it.

Hope everyone is doing well and is staying safe.

I was feeling quite fatalistic about this week

I was feeling pretty fatalistic about this but I’ve managed to do a lot more this week than I expected so I’m focusing on that. Today I reached some intense emotional scenes which should be pretty fun to do!

Cool well done Hannah.

  1. Didn’t hit 30k, only about 15k. Much harder month than expected.
  2. I’m really close, still not there. Maybe next month
  3. Nope : )
  4. I’ve completed about 75% of my remaining college applications. Only 4 left.

Overall this month was kind of a downer. I hit some major writer’s (coder’s?) block in the middle that corresponded with various bugs and that ate a lot of time. Still made progress though, just not much. On the bright side, I finally cleared up those bugs and my game actually runs again! Hooray! Hopefully next month I can get back in the groove.

Everytime I think I will have time and energy to write, life keeps throwing another curveball.

I think I’ve written around 500-700 words this whole month?

To everyone needing to hear this!

This month I wrote 36k  It’s not a nanowrimo win, but it’s still a lot of progress! I’m very close to starting the midpoint of the chapter, and took some time off during the last week to code and plan, so even though I wasn’t actually writing I did get some stuff done.

Hopefully next month I can keep the momentum going.

This month I, uh, kinda botched writing? I’ve got some stuff outlined and a little bit written, but without the incentive of a context or close deadline I just can’t manage to get myself to sit down and write. Trying to get back into the routine of writing every day again, but this far no success.

I got into the routine of reading 3 books a week. Which I’m happy about. I’ve been outlining a lot, but right now I can’t really focus on the writing aspect. November’s been weird, but I’m over it.

I think that was a successful month.

I hit 98% on my editing of the two chapters. But, I also finished one of the three endings that needed to be done, as well as editing the epilogue, so I’m happy with the result.

Good work, everyone, and congrats to any NaNoWriMo writers out there.

See you in December’s thread!

I managed 8k words this month, which is… not bad, considering how ridiculous it was in many ways. I also wrote something most days, which definitely helped.

Keep going, everyone, and see you in the next thread!

November just… sucked (forgive me the language).
I basically wrote only few lines among my thesis and my study room occupied because my mother boyfriend (who I can barely endure) has to smart working there
